Diplomatical : Chances are that certain files from the full version of the game have been overwritten by the trial version. I don't believe that there are settings in the registry or otherwise that act as a flag, telling GalCiv2 whether it's the full version or the trial (This would be too easy to workaround, otherwise). If you do uninstall, the files at MyDocuments\MyGames\GalCiv2\ ... should be retained, which include your game settings, saved games, etc. Y
moppy1982 : Could you please email this to [email protected] with the serial number you're attempting to use to activate this? Thank you, -Mike [Stardock Support]
wclee00 : I am sorry to hear that the problem persists. Have you had any kind of issues with other fullscreen (exclusive mode) games? Though SmartException unfortunately doesn't catch anything, is anything recorded in the Event logs? Start->Run Even
wclee00 : Sorry to hear about your trouble with GalCiv2/DA and the lack of a response from support. As Kryo said, we're unfortunately a little behind with all the Dark Avatar email that's started coming in. With the game now in windowed mode, does it still freeze up
quigley0: Does running the following self-extracting file help? http://sd.stardock.com/mike/files/gc2-fonts.exe (Be sure to adjust the extraction path if you have not used the default install path for GalCiv2) -Mike [Stardock Support]
williamjuly : I have found your email in the support system and sent you a response. We should have your activation issue resolved shortly. I apologize fo
Uraniraptor : Thank you for your patience. I see that you have submitted multiple activation requests and after processing your first, it came back successful. I can only assume the others were also successful, as no ticket had been created in our support system.</P
seems I can play the game fine with my serial IF I do not update it from this site. But when I download the latest update it will not activate! This is true, because Galactic Civilizations 2, as released, does not require activation. If you choose to obtain the latest version, which offers additional features, we require that you activate Gala
Wh1te Out : You shouldn't have a problem at all. Activation and updating can take place in any order. Activation is actually not required for the retail build (the version on the CDs), only for versions 1.1 and newer. If a game of v1.1 and newer is run, it will loo
Wh1te Out : I just noticed that you've used your gmail address to activate when your Stardock.net account is under your Navy email address. No worries, I've merged these two -- use your gmail address for anything here in the future. As a precautionary measur
Wh1te Out : Activation is actually a very painless process given normal circumstances. You are not restricted to writing in from the email address used to register, you just need to be sure to use that email address when activating . The activation
When you come across this bug, if you save your game and then load it again, is the minimap still displayed incorrectly? Either way, I would be interested in a zipped savegame/debug.err from whomever is able to send it that is experiencing this problem. Please direct these to [email protected] and reference this thread in the body of your email. Hopefully we can finally get this addressed! <IMG src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Congrats.gif" align=absMiddle b
Ameorn : It shouldn't matter what language version of Windows XP you have installed. All Microsoft apps (unless otherwise indicated) should install okay. If you go to your device manager (Right click my computer -> properties -> Hardware tab -> Device M
Reaver : What if you turn off AntiAliasing and run the game in windowed mode (if you set the resolution of the game to the resolution of your desktop, you will not see a difference)? There are also some newer Forceware drivers available: <A href="http://www.nvid
Tasty Gerbil : Hmm, sounds like it's related to a drawing issue in the minimap. <A class="Comment_AuthorLink hand" id=ctl00__ContentArea_ctl00_ctl00__CommentList_ctl05__User onclick="showSlideMenu('ctl00__Con
Thurlin : It's good that we have more than one confirmed report of this problem. If you could post your debug.err when you get a chance, that would help. <A class="Comment_AuthorLink hand" id=ctl00__ContentAre
That's an interesting problem. I'd like to check out your debug.err file if you were able to post that. If not, could you send it in to [email protected] and reference this thread? -Mike [Stardock Support]
Yep, scaling and rotating comes in very handy if you want something to be aesthetically pleasing. -Mike [Stardock Support]
Galganov : I would suggest sending in your debug.err file located in the GalCiv2 directory to [email protected] . It would also greatly help if you could send in one of your saves (in a .zip or .rar please!) and we could try to reproduce the problem here. -Mike [Stardock Support]

Could you post your debug.err from a crashed game? This file is located in the GalCiv2 directory. Regarding the graphs with the huge gaps, could you take a screenshot of this? The easiest way might be to launch GalCiv2 in a window and use the PrintScrn key as you would normally. Thank you, -Mike [Stardock Support]
