Sounds good. I might buy it this weekend. Is there a demo to try the game?

I just saw the reviews/trailers on Gamespy and Gamespot. The game looks really great. Are you concerned with the securerom drm/protection? Does it slow down your pc in anyway with other games? How would the fps be with a Geforce 8800 at 1600x1050?
Moosetek, interesting site. Is it legal? Quality is not perfect, but doable I guess. StarAdder, why did you give up on Stargate? I've heard it is a good show, but I havent seen it yet. Currently I watch the series 24. I still have a lot of seasons to watch, but it is so addictive that they are running out fast.
Ship combat is much better in HW2 and I don't like the way ships look like in Sots. They look much better in HW2 and SINS imho. If I want a decent 4x game I would play Galciv2 or the upcoming Distant Words, as I don't like the tactical combat so much in an 4x game. In particular if it is not so easy to understand how to master it.# It shouln't be about battle skills in such games but rather about empire skills. Note that I've tried the demo of Sots. #
Didn't the patches fix the issues with Armada for you Martok?
Maiden, thanks for the tip! Unfortunately they are not at war with anyone. They have the highest diplomacy rating :(
Why? I don't really like Sots I didn't really understand the tactical combat part of the game and the ships look a bit strange.
Great to see that people are still playing this game and using the metaverse. I intend to play a metaverse game soon after I've getting my skills back after a long time not playing this game.
I'm (as Terrans) now in this game with Altarians as the strongest opponent, for the moment I'm friendly with them. But they keep sending scary fleets through my territory to attack the Drengin that are on the other side. I support the Drengin to keep the battle going and the Altarians occupied. I like this type of proxy fighting. In the meantime I'm killing off the weaker players and taking their planets. To answer your question: you can see where ships are heading by clicking on them
Thanks. But why don't you play the game anymore? What do you play instead? Have you seen this new game Distant Worlds, sold by Matrix games?
Good to see that you and your wisdom are still around Mumblefratz! Have you already started playing DA? I just installed it for the first time, after playing DL since I bought the game.
Yes I mean Galciv2. It seems that you are one of the few active participants on this forum left. What kind of games do you play nowadays? 20 hours, you must be kiddin?
Thanks for the responses. I have solved he error with a registery fix I found in the bug section of the Galciv2 forum. The forums went online again after some time I posted this message on the Sins forum/websie. I don't have clue what the registry fix fixes, but it worked somehow. Now I can play this great game again! Are you guys still playing it?
I think starbases boost trade as long as the trade route goes through the starbase radius of influence (the circle you see when you click the starbase). I don't really get your question on the economy boosting improvements. I think they are very useful.
I'm by no mean a veteran but I play this game from time to time and have played it since it was released. For most of your answers you can go to the galciv 2 wiki (just google it). It is very useful to get you started with the game. Regarding your specific questions, I believe the answers are as follwed: 1) Yes they apply to every ship and soldier 2) Dunno exactly 3) 15% morale is for every planet within the radius of the starbase, it works just like bonu
Any news on the proposed small update? I would prefer a change to the approval system. Now you can easily rig elections by lowering taxes just before the election, which seems strange as people are not so stupid just to vote for you again if you only have low taxes just before an election and raise them afterwards and keep them high until the week before the next election. Brad/Frogboy please change this. I would really appreciate this change as it makes this game concept much more in
Nice ship Scoutdog!
Does anyone use E-readers to read magazines, newspapers, books, pdfs? I'm considering to buy one. It seems easy on the eyes and saves u carrying all those books on hollidays. What about the kindle?
@Campaigner I don't think you do justice to this game. It seems that the developers have implemented some innovative elements into this game. I like the fact that there's actually a whole economy going on, while you are managing as a head of state. Also the galaxy is much larger then in common rts/tbs games. The UI seems very easy to use and there is a very extensive galactopedia to help you. Why would it be impossible? You can automate the things you don't like. I wish I could d
In addition, the strongest player could just use the Divide et Iimpera strategy and win even easier (at least that is what I do when I'm quite strong). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divide_and_rule
"Yes, it is actually more difficult to get weak AI's to attack a strong AI than getting the strong AI to attack the weak AI's" Perhaps this should be addressed in a future patch or galciv3. I think it is logical (at least in board games it is) to gang up against the strongest player, otherwise you'll lose the game for sure at high difficulty levels + it is less realistic.
1) devote resources to social production in the economy screen, don't build too many building in the beginning. It can ruin your economy. 2) Design your own ships and research the necessary techs 3) Starbases can't defend planets, they only defend the specific spot in which they are place, however, they can assist your ships in a large area. + the effects stack! 4) Probably these are just ships attacking your ships.
I like this: "Lack of rewarding micromanagement". I guess preferences differ.
Is it easy to get the AI gang up against the strongest player in the game? I would think that they are afraid om his military strength. I think, however, that it should be easy in the game as it is the only way - at difficult levels - to damage him. Resembles the game of RISK in which human players also try to form an alliance to weaken the strongest player/bully. What do you think?
Hi Maiden666, Thanks for sharing your idea. Seems logical, although I wonder if war by other AI's with this strong AI wouldn't affect his strength.
