if I'm reading this correctly, which I do hope I am. Then your saying you should either focus on building Factories and stuffing money into them in the beginning. and the other is to build a decent research orafice first then slowly ease into productivity... The one thing that I notice which is a major dissadvantage of the factory rush is the unexpected losses incurred in the game. if you have a dollar and set it to spend money on half science and half production. then you esstially are

while I don't enjoy the learning curve an Aritificial Intellegence does. I do posses the ablitly to know exactly what they do every turn, since the AI tends to be predictable to me, putting their transports in the weakest positions or placing a single ship into an awaiting arsenal is sometimes suicide for the AI. I would tell it what it was doing wrong but the machine is so stubborn it don't listen to me no more... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Tongue.gif" border=0 align="

take this advice start the game out on a note to keep ecomomy above a negative for a decent ammount of time this would require you to spend points on economy or better yet Trade put some points into these and you should stay out of the hole for a decent ammount of time... addressing you concerns though here we go! One of my biggest issues I think is morale. If a planet's p

Hi I'm completely new to turn baised RPG's um just to let you know the only role you really play is that of an entire empire. TBS(Turn Based Strategy) is more like this game . Strategy is who idea behind the game you are not some person just looking for th

Answer provided by Dr.Science: Whenever one falls off a car that is moving, it's a shocking experience. How well I remember the time I hung onto the side of a Volkswagen beetle going down the highway. It was the summer of my fifteenth year, and I was standing on the running board, holding onto the metallic lip of the rain gutter on top of the door. Everything was fine until we rounded a curve. Then centrifugal force pried my fingers from the gutter and sent me onto the road's surface. At first,

The theory of dark matter arouse from people not really understanding gravity :/ It is plausible in a sense that it lets all the numbers add-up. Other than that we have 0 proof. Concept of dark matter is just whacky to most people because it's hard to imagine somethign we never experienced. Don't even get me started on dark energy. So is the h

The galaxy isn't infinite. Nor is the universe. I may agree that the galaxy is not infinate. I can however say that there is no measure of the universe so a guess is only going to be spectulation. There are those that believe there are intellegent life out there and are at this moment searching for it, me included, SETI(Search for Extraterrest

Have you considered that maybe these ships don't have artificial gravity? Each turn is considered to be a week...so in theory, people are on board these ships only months at a time. That's easily accomplished even today. if they have no gravity it will effect how the living conditions are on the ship, say if it took you several weeks to get to

You're completely and utterly wrong. As said before, hypothesis= educated guess. Theory= tried and tested. No. God is not a theory, but a hypothesis. There is not enough proof of a God to make him an accepted theory. <

In scientific terms, 'god exists' as a stand alone statement is not even a hypothesis. God has not been proven not to exist; therefore he must exist. << think of this more often as a scientist and as a person.

Anyway, we aren't going to do anything with it. Too weak for weapons, don't need the energy (in GC2 anyway), so what's the point? Just trying out supposed ideas to make the game more realistic.

The Speed of light is exactly 299,792,458 metres per second. In a year there are 60 x 60 x 24 x 365.2425 = 31,556,952 seconds. So how far is a light year? Answer: 9,460,536,207,068,016 metres. About 6 million million miles. From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parsec The parsec (symbol pc) is a unit of length used in astronomy. It stands for "parallax of one arc second". It is based on the method of trigonometric parallax, one of the most ancient and standard methods of d

did you try right clicking the planet or using the arrow keys to get to the planet, difficulty won't prevent you from colinizing planets and races don't do that either so both of those facts are irrelavent.

why do you want to add something else that can't be seen? we had enough trouble with the precursor library. maybe with tech you might be able to see it, no?

So I thought I would make a post on the current poll to see what people really want from Stardock. I picked Turn Based Fantasy Game. My reasoning behind this is that I think those types of games if worked out in the right fasion become somewhat of an addiction to play. I also like the idea behind Society yet there is not much content to go on yet so I didn't vote for it. This is just my thoughts to the poll what does the community here think?

I think there should be a way to utilize some inihabitable planets by this method but would seem to require quite of bit of messing with code and adding that might be too major to add in the game at this point but I think the asteroid fields that you will be able to use in the DA expansion will be extrealy useful if anything this might not make it into this game but could be an idea for GCIII or something in the future.

Try a bunch of Huge ships with tons of weaponry and defense that might be able to make a diffrence Huge ships can usually pack a big wholup and in the case of defense they are quite good at both if you pack a ton of weaponry you can take things out in one shot usually although you would still kill for some defense because they get a shot at you no matter what in 1.2...

I find if you don't constanly look at your economy in the beginning you are doomed from the start. Make sure you have some economy bonuses on those higher levels if you are not used to them. I am playing on a Gigantic Painful map, its taking absolutly forever to finish, I usually start out much the same as you do but I intead of continually building factories I regulate there spending with Market Centers and reserch Trade as fast as I can, there is an Economic Capital there, and also research to
