lol....i usually use mass drivers when invading....

i got my current card for 145$ US, it's a 6600GT, 256mb...it was an awsome improvment from what i was runing...it plays oblivion and Galciv2 looks real pretty with it...

i would like to be able to that as well...it would be especially handy in very slow research games...

i don't know about setting it up at game start however a factions standing towards you at the end of your last game as that race carries over to the next one and is that "Historical friendship/hatred" thing.. at least it used to...

i found i could stop this by going to the planetary management screen and then clicking on build ship in the top right and then on "nothing".

actually it does have a visual effect in combat...because your weapons fire from where there at on your ship if all your guns are on ther front it looks really wierd when they fire backwards throught you...i like to put most of mine towards the front and sides on tiny to medium hulls and then on large and huges i put some on ther front and most onn the side...

which tend to be a bit better or a lot better anyways....

i didn't know economic starbases boosted production.... i'll have to build a couple near my home world sometime...(i always use my home world as my first manufacturing base)
