Placement of Weapons

Placement of Weapons

Hey, I know this might be a stupid question but does it matter where you place weapons on a ship? And does which direction it is pointing matter? For example if I point a weapon to the front will it be able to shoot backwards? Or are they not able to shoot to the rear?

Thanks!

Placing weapons is only for looks. If you're in a hurry you can select a hull, slap the components on any old place, and it will all work the same in combat.

You can even rotate the weapon so that the barrel is opening side of the ship's structure.... I've never made a ship like that but I'm pretty sure it would still work (funny if it blew up your own ship though )

I sort of wish it did matter but it is not really a big deal. I sometimes put weapons front, rear, etc just for S&G

actually it does have a visual effect in combat...because your weapons fire from where there at on your ship if all your guns are on ther front it looks really wierd when they fire backwards throught you...i like to put most of mine towards the front and sides on tiny to medium hulls and then on large and huges i put some on ther front and most onn the side...

This was one of the most disappointing aspects of the game. I was lead to believe that it actually mattered where you placed the weapons.
