The crash appears to be related to user credentials not correctly getting copied/written to HKCU registry locations. Workaround: Extracting the contents of http://sd.stardock.com/gc2_ultimate_2.04.2.zip to the GalCiv2\Twilight directory should also fix the crash. More/better fix to make sure all HKCU settings keys are set properly from registration: </

You should be all set if you restart Impulse. Added Ultimate to your Impulse account.
Now that we have the final RTM Win7 code, we've checked into this and it does not appear to be an issue with the release. http://windowsfixup.com/2009/05/windows-7-build-7122-fixes-game-issues/ suggests it was an issue with the RC builds and they include the workaround steps posted above. I am going to be republishing new revisions of the Twilight/Endless Universe/Ultimate installs on Impulse either today or Monday. These do not change the game, but work around some issue Win7
I apparently have a lot of them, as someone does it to me most every day.
Gold Edition are 35 characters (including the -'s).
General Homsar, you don't have a registration for DA under your email address. If you've bought DA, please contact [email protected] with information on your order.
OK, this should be sorted for the evening, but you must use Stardock Central to handle the activation. In Stardock Central / Games, right-click on the Dark Avatar module and select the "Activate (w/logging)" option. The backend should be happy with the Gold serial you have and will generate the sig.bin in the Dark Avatar directory. I've tested with CydoniaRanger and scottrycroft's accounts.
Given that the Dark Avatar beta is going out as I type this, there maybe some confusion. You may happily download the standalone installer updates for your base GC2 build at work, transfer to usb or whatever, install at home, and activate over dialup in a matter of moments. There is no standalone installer for the Dark Avatar beta. That said... you may install the DA beta at the office and then use the Archive functions in Stardock Central to create a .sdc archive fi
Access to the internet (even by email if you must insist on transferring the request from one machine to another) is required for the beta.
Another comment: you must have the Stardock Central 2.38.432 Build 139 (or later) to be able to install the build. I know based on testing that somehow a few people still are on Build 115 from February (that one had a bug that didn't auto-update). If need be, slap http://storage.stardock.com/files/sdcentral_setup.exe over it and you should be up to build 139. Kris
In response to a question earlier, you will be able to purchase the DA beta and get initial access to it for at least the next week (probably a couple of days more given the holiday next week). But, it will be closed again at some point and things will move back to preorders for new purchases until otherwise noted. Updates for those with access will continue to follow until we move into further phases of testing, at which point new updates will be to a more limited group up until rel
Please do _not_ order again. Either your preorder will process tonight or it won't, but it'll be done by morning. I know some have already failed (incorrect info, expired info, etc). If you have preordered and you don't get the email tonight, please gently contact [email protected] after 9am EST and we'll get things sorted. The more info you can include (like say your order email/number or at the very least the email address), the better.
I've emailed you a new serial. It's too early in the weekend to play conspiracy theory online. Kris
Enough. Tom had a contract with us to work on the GalCiv2 manual, completed his work, and was paid for it last December (as best I know for when the check should have been cut for when the work was completed, there's quite the lead time for physical manufacturing of items). There is no ongoing business relationship with him, no contract for work, no payments to him based on GC2 sales. We contracted with him for a widget and he delivered it. Stardock has spoken with him under
The 100K download is telling the game to enable the CE content you already have. It's not adding or removing files. I believe it's all additional ship parts. The latest update adds a bunch more stuff that is not part of the original CE content, but with the update, all the new bits are available for everyone. Link
It'll look something like the below. Email that to [email protected]. If you've entered the right information (esp if you've already used it in the past), it'll send you an email back within a couple of minutes. If you haven't, it'll need the support guys to look at it. As this is a holiday weekend, I'm liable to be around more then them. cc the email to [email protected] as well. m=1&v=1&a1=8E24B6CAA2B4990C5A76871C37AB15B587D4BE3535DB6884F59A54F279D4
Remove the sig.bin from the directory on the other machine and reactivate it. If you are using Stardock Central, you can right-click on the component and select the Activate w/logging option. If not, it'll prompt for activation. Enter the email address and serial you've previously used with it. The activation is liberal, within reason. A sig.bin from one OS install will not work on another. But, you can install and activate on a reasonable number of machines during a given period bef
What difficulty are you playing at?
Email the activation code it generates on the unconnected PC to [email protected]. Just emailing and going "HELP!" to that address will require another go-round of emails otherwise.
No, Stardock Central should get the changes properly. Or applying the standalone installer on top of everything else.
Press Ctrl-V to paste it in. Yes, that needs to be made more clear. If you have reinstalled the OS, you will need to reactivate (Malkuth). In your case, it'll generate a code you can email us and we'll send back the sig.bin file. So long as you don't reinstall Windows, you're set.
The latest German files from mid-last week are integrated into this build. There maybe some small data differences or additional #-defined extra text strings that are not present, but those can be added in the future. If Language = German at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2, then the updated German files will install. If that has been changed to English via a previous update installer or beta, you'll need to use RegEdit.exe to flip it back. Or reinstall from t
1.10.027 should be "the build", both via Stardock Central and the Downloads page. Some people reverted to 1.0X when they jumped the gun earlier as the servers were still syncing.
To check on something else: What version is SDC reporting in Help / About? You should be on build 129. If this is happening with that version, please note that here so that Brian Harper ([email protected]) can help you track down what's going wrong.
Yes. It appears you're running the video drivers that came with the Windows XP box. You'll need to update to get a version that's compatible with DirectX 9.0c.
