I think it is interesting that people first assume that slow download speeds and such are the fault of a particular site rather than a faulty connection. I have never had a problem with Stardock Central...

No, it isn't only for Beta Builds, phbbt107. There is a selection in Stardock Central that allows you to exclude Beta Builds. Pnakatos is also correct - you can download non-Beta updates from here as well: Link You still need to register, though.
Did you update your game and add the multimedia content from Stardock Central?
Enui71, the developers decided to forgo copy protection and instead give people more content (updates, etc) when they register the game. I like it better this way than the alternative - CD dongle "protection" with straight downloads that may or may not be posted regularly. I don't see how it is "hidden." Just go to downloads and it is right there - "use Stardock Central to keep up to date on Galactic Civilizations II and other Stardock sof
For all those that have Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound cards, here is a link to the site for newer drivers. I have seen several folks having problems with the game that look like they need to update their sound driver for this card at the very least. Link The latest driver file is sc_4193.exe for Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98 Note that it is NOT signed by Mic
The problem in this case would be one of distribution. Sure, you could claim that it is not making anyone any money - that seems right. However, making the logo available for download to the public in a thread like this would be another thing entirely - especially on the forums run by a company that would have to be licensed in order to use the logo themselves in game materials. Fair use usually requires a limited viewership or one that would not "water down" the artwork's value on the commer
I suggest that people read this regarding "fair use:" Link Then follow the link here for more information on copyright in general: Link I don't see how use of a copyrighted image in a game like this without the creator's permission would be
Hmm - I don't have to run the game only on one processor... and I have basically the same setup as you with the exception of my use of an nVIDIA card instead of ATI. I see your game version is not the most up-to-date. Have you tried patching that yet?
Yes, I can design and build my own designs. But the game is unplayable BECAUSE the AI can't/won't. The biggest ship I've seen AI build is an escort of 20 HP's. That is ridiculous. I play on tough settings, and all AI has is 8HP fighters and 12 HP heavy fighters and defenders. Obviously I can simply walk onto these planets us
I think you should analyze the "fleet" aspect of combat some more here. The exact makeup of the fleet can be crucial to some battles, especially against enemies with a lower amount of logistical knowledge.
I am running a dual AMD Athlon MP machine and can run the game fine. Like the others say here, patching is a good thing.
I'm using 81.98 drivers on a GeForce4 Ti4600 - they appear to be working fine.
You might want to put "Resolved" or something like that in the title of your thread just to make sure people know that you solved it yourself.
Keep up the good work, Citizen Chris Nahr !
I have all the patches and the vid and audio drivers are all updates, but I just had the same buggy situation as this fellow. I saved last night after getting a great empire set up and now this morning the game crashes when I try to load that saved game. Questions, Citizen christian97470 - did you pat
And I wanted to know if it is a bug or a deliberate feature, but when a tiny custom military ship with 1 laser is in the viscinity of a military starbase with all basic protection and all basic attack support it only gives plus 1 laser and plus 1 sniper turret attack, but my small design ship gets all the protection and all the attack bonus. How could they make the best offer when no one else made an offer. Maybe it was "secret?" And why make an offer for revenge to the entity that you want revenge on? Not a bug. A nice feature rather that keeps players on their toes.
I checked out the Starforce site and read a number of posts on their forums. It is interesting to see how they are backpedaling, though not speedily, on this and other issues regarding their approach to DRM. Many of the threads on their General Discussion boards are now locked because they couldn't handle the volume of people coming in from this forum, Slashdot and other places complaining about their attitude and even their own software. It is sad
Before this gets locked, I want to add that Citizen Hereticked is also free to get on the Stardock IRC channel and talk with developers and fellow gamers about his or her issue. He or she may get a more immediate response and may be asked questions that may help him or her make this post more constructive in its exploration of the problems he or she has encountered. But of course Citizen Hereticked is also free to sit and stew in his or her
That's quite a stumper you have there. I know you probably have, but just for the record did you try uninstalling the multimedia pieces and such then reinstalling them?
I already said that updating my video driver will probably solve all or most of the crashing, I know this Ok, then perhaps you need to make a new thread on your other issues or join other threads that talk about the bugs you encountered. Do something proactive and constructive so that your efforts c
I'm using an old card, a GeForce4 Ti 4600 to be exact, and it works fine with up-to-date drivers. You don't have to have new equipment. You just have to keep the drivers current. Updates to driver software is normal for any device and companies that produce hardware often work with game companies and others to provide fixes to glitches caught in the course of play or program operation. The key with all of this, of course, is that the end
I'm aware my video driver is old The bottom line question is "have you tried changing out that old driver yet?" In other words, are you specifically resisting trying something that may help solve your issue for a reason you can list here or have you tried this and it did not help. Either way, postin
You are welcome. The Santa Cruz is still a good card even now. I'm glad it worked for you.
Did you try the things listed in that thread that was linked? Did they solve the problem temporarily?
