My notes (and please remember I'm a hack): Changing the backgorund is not covered here . . . that may come later. You can shoot me a line via email if you need more/less help All code and ideas are based on the KFI Radio object. All mistakes are mine. I created a new object called WXPN_WMP, made it a child of the background edited script added Windows Media player activeX control (as a test I entered the U

No buyers regret. Fun game. As far as the argument/rant that the mechanics aren't transparent . . I would argue that some (myself) wish that they were less. I want to manage a civ. I want to have to learn the way it works and beat it at rules I don't know exist yet. I don't want to see what might be down the line in a tech tree. I want the -magic- of immersion. The UI is different, not bad. Different takes me into the world that was created. It's only unintuiti
If I were managing a civ . . . I'd want a simple interface . . . maybe 2d? It's not really the galaxy, it's just a representation. Most people that go mountain climbing don't have 3d representations . . they have 2d and contour lines. And is space . . you don't need contour lines.
Try to reinstall SDC. https://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp That should help clear up the download problems. Then download GalCiv2 again and all shoudl be well.
1) All the spiffy graphics make it harder to focus on the text of the posts, and probably contribute a lot to the overall sense of confusion. An optional display style which was more spartan would be great! That's branding and not a bad thing. Just not your thing. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=#FFF394 class="mb-Body-Quote-Ta
I ended up Chaotic Evil in my last game. I tried to stay neutral . . . but I was running low on funds . . so I made an evil choice. And then another. But then I mad a good choice to balance it out. Then another evil . . . . because I was already doomed really. One thing led to another . . . and then the GNN robot changed. I knew I had fallen to the dark side. It was fun. It was liberating. Who cares about the moral bonuses . .
If you don't have it installed already pick up Stardock's SmartException https://www.stardock.com/products/smartexception/ and send along anything it catches. [email protected]

Would a SD rep please advise on how I "return" my downloaded GC2 and exchange it with a hard copy [email protected] or upgrade: https://www.galciv2.com/upgrade.aspx They're pretty busy right now. Strength through patience. <img src
From the article: Stardock has added some other features to GalCiv2, some that make your life easier, some that make you plan harder. One of the features in the "making your life easier" category is the introduction of Governors. Governors can be assigned to a solar system (there can be more than one habitable planet in a solar system) when you don't want to spend eve
Sorry . . refreshed . . and only got the title of this post. Removed my question.
I finished my first Metaverse game and verifying how badly I suck. I couldn't find myself in the rankings . . . but I can wait on the database for that to update. It looks like I suck less than I thought I did or everyone else sucks too. Either way I'm happy. The bug is that if there are 11+ pages of results . . . . page 11 shows twice at the bottom of the page. It's really page 10 (or 11) but it shows as 11.
I take all the planets I can. If you don't, they will. That can be very bad strategically.
Good job Brad. (and team) Enjoying the game very much. Thanks for investing in your customers, expect good results back.
I don't know where yet, but I would like to have an icon on my skin so I can launch the game from any window [for personal use]. Is there a simple tutorial on how to do this? I have never done anythign with SKS before.
Stardock takes the cake for coolness. A strongbad emblem ALONG with a Canadian. It almost makes me wish I was from Canadia.
I took the video that t-man had in the galciv2 fan pack and posted it to Google video. It makes it wicked easy to embed in your website like I did. http://www.klenkefamily.net/blog It's there if anyone wants it. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8152882833400413099
