Stardock said "Fu@k you, we don't care about you" to anyone who doesn't have their gaming computer connected to the internet. I agree with smartwings, I don't want to be forced to install another program just to make the game updateable. Granted, I've never had any problems updating either GalCiv or GalCiv II/DA...until now. I'm in the Army and deployed in Iraq and the only internet access I get is at an internet cafe where I don't even have access to the desktop, let alone any chance

I agree, GalCiv II and Dark Avatar are the only game I own that I can't just download a patch for. I'm in the same boat as HossXL, I don't have internet access on my gaming computer and the computers I can get on the internet with I can't install Stardock on because I don't have Admin rights. They are great games, but a little support for those of us not blessed with personal internet is a definite must.
Yes, and so that I am clear, I have access to a computer, but not one where I have admin rights and can install anything. Therefore, I can't install SDC and get the patches from there. And to say it again, I am not able to connect my computer, where the game is installed, to the internet. If anyone has any kind of download link or website hosting for just the patches, the latest one for Dread Lords and the latest one for Dark Avatar, I would really appreciate them. Thanks.
I do not have admin rights on the computers I can get on the internet with, so thus NO I cannot install SDC. Next option, please. Requiring internet access to download a patch for a game that is not online only is crap. I love the game like I loved GalCiv1, and I expected better from the makers of these games. I will continue to buy and play games they make, but I am very disappointed in their lack of support for those of us without a constant internet connection.
Is there any way to download these patches without using Stardock Central? I am only able to use shared computers to connect to the internet, not my own. When I log in to galciv2.com and select downloads, the newest patch I can find is the straight GalCiv2 1.4, nothing about Dark Avatar. Thanks a lot.
I pre-ordered GalCiv2 and got a little card in it that said enter this number at the GalCiv2 site for some Collector's Edition content. The only problem is that this site is asking for the serial number, which says it's the number that was on the jewel case. I've tried using the number I have (I'm not at my computer since I don't have internet on it) and don't have the jewel case with me. Is that card and number just a red herring? Thanks
