unexplored space
- trade routes are visible on the main map, even if youve never been on that side of the galaxy
- double clicking on a planet will bring up the colony screen -- even if you're randomly double clicking on unexplored space =P (or if you followed a trade route to the end of the line, heh)

trade screen
- (FIXED: by Cari) exchanging techs leads to a CTD when trying to add techs from the AI
- the popup for Attack... only has a Cancel button, but it still functions

foreign relations UI
- the "Trade with us" stat does not update as you click on the varius races...

planet improvements
- basic farming and xeno farming are not "connected" - you cant upgrade from basic to xeno, which means the auto upgrade wont take place... you have to demolish the basic and then build the xeno... eek.

Just installed 0.77[b].008 and starting from a shortcut works again, no more "activation" problems. Thanks!

Reporting bugs here, but we should probably start a new thread for 4B reports?

quick build list
- bringing up the QBL displays the stats of whatever ship you built the last time you used the QBL dialog, instead of whats being built on the focused planet.

fleet information
- the preview image for a fleet uses the last solo ship you previewed

foreign relations
- the "trade with us" stat still does not update when you click different races

planet details UI
- starship bonuses not listed
- One of the "word on the street" strings had a variable [LeaderHeShe] in it.

main map
- I was playing on Central Powers, and you can move ships into tiles occupied by a star.
- you can see trade routes in unknown parts of space

textures
-missing textures for certain parts of starbases

diplomacy/negotiation
- AIs who are at war with whomever you're trading with are still being listed in the "Attack..." dialog...

- starbase fortifation, mk1 -> mk4, there are two mk4's listed... and the typo on "fortification"...
- "singer IV" should be "stinger IV"

combat viewer
- at the end of combat, in the center columns displaying the various stats of the engagement... the "ships lost" stat is cris crossed, showing *my* losses on my opponents side, and theirs on mine... perhaps this should be labeled Units Killed, instead?

(the ship icons of the 3 I lost were properly displayed under my empire's flag)

planet improvements
- adv. market center and banking center are not linked.
- banking center and trade center are not linked.
- research center and research academy are not linked.
- GNN popup for the extreme stadium lists the morale bonus at 1%
- soil improvement, habitat improvement, etc, dont appear to be functioning. after researching not a single planet shows a new tile... (class 10 -> 24) (central powers map)
- aphrodisiac: in the improvement description window it shows "Economics 50%" instead of population growth...

improvement list
- you cannot scroll the list with your mouse wheel if you currently have a tile selected that already has a building on it, unless the cursor is over the scroll bar

morale calculation
- higher quality planets receive less morale bonus from "native ability" ?? bug or intentional?

'salvage' ship
- when you destroy a ship (decommission) it doesnt remove the 'focus' on that ship, still listing its stats and what not...

end game summary
- avg. tax rate is listed as "X bc" instead of "X%"
- avg. monthly income is listed as a negative...

planet improvements
- lets say you had enough buildings in the queue so as to create a scrollable list... and then you add an important building to the queue and wish to bump it up... if you scroll down and select the list and then hit the UP button, the list is scrolled to the very top... please force the list to stay within view of the selected tech.

- skimming through my debug.err file, come across a few things that may be worth noting...

On Beta4a, trying to upgrade a ship design had a problem where you couldn't select and delete components. In Beta4b, when I try to upgrade a ship design the old ship does not even appear in the window. I have to start from scratch. Is that a bug or is that intended?

Post edited: In case I wasn't clear, clicking upgrade for an existing ship design brings up the design window looking exactly as it does for a new design, except that the ship name is the name of the old ship instead of "New Design".

Minor point I haven't noticed reported before: on loading a saved game, ships that have move points left are displayed as, for example:

Moves left: 4/0

when it should of course be 4/4.

After the first turn this corrects itself.

I suspect, but can't prove, that when you reload a saved game, ships completed at the first turn don't generate the GNN notice or the drop down icon. My reasons for suspecting it are that after reloading and playing for a while I'll find a planet completing a ship and when I go look at the planet I see 2 of those ships in orbit, and I don't remember seeing the notice for the first one. For example in my current game I've got most of my new colonies building defenders, and then as soon as a colony gets a defender I'll switch it to building a constructor. So when I see a colony with 2 defenders I figure I've missed a completion notice for the first one. Beta4b .009, but it was the same on 4a.

Well, I think there is an issue with the fact that user desigend ships are saved in a new directory. I have copied back the files to the Data/ShipCfg directory, and I was able to see the ship I want to upgrade. But I can't add or remove any component when trying to upgrade an user designed ship. I was abed to do it on teh predesiged ships

During the course of a game, the altarians proposed a trade:

What they said, in essence: "Let's trade! Ill give you Enhanced Deflectors, if you will give me Diplomatic Relations!"

The problem here is, I was the one with E.D. and they had the diplomatic tech. On their side, D.R. was listed as part of the proposed exchange, however nothing was listed on my side.

I was about to alt-tab back into the game to see if the proposal would go through as it should have been intended, but I got an invalid call. D'oh.

Noticed in the Ship Design Screen that the ship component images failed to be displayed and at one point the whole ship. Appears to be related to
"ASSERT ERROR in file .\Source\Screens\ShipDesignScreen.cpp at line 2662."

Program locked up the computer completely after double clicking repeatly on one of the blank comonents.

This just happened to me, too. The Korx offered Interstellar Government for Armor Theory, when I was the one with Interstellar Government and they were the ones with Armor Theory.

It didn't seem like a good trade, but to further investigate this oddity I said yes, and now I have Armor Theory. So it looks like the trade offer is legit but that the tech names are just reversed in the message.

There seems to me to be a high correllation between either a diplomacy window popping up (because the AI wants to talk to you) or an event window (like manufacturing capital) popping up, and the problem that's been reported here where the social and military completion event icons that get stuck at the top of the screen and don't drop.

I managed to create a saved game without entering a name (couldn't see the text input line) whi8ch was auto named "New saved Game". This was about 40 or so turns into a Huge game with all races. The saved game doesnt load (have left it hanging on load screen for half hour or so) but looking at control pannel GalCiv2 is not responding.

I am going to create a saved game in a sec and name it and load it with the same game set up to see if its a general problem or a file naming issue...

I will need a reboot box to test this as I have now noticed that when I shut down the hung game from Task manager I cant re-start the game exe again at all withot a complete system restart, and i cant be fussed to do that right now.


IT APPEARS THAT I CAN'T LOAD ANY SAVED GAMES, BE THEY AUTOSAVES, LAST SAVED GAME OR WHATEVER.

I was at war with the korx, but then out of the blue, all of the korx's planets became mine without any diplomatic message. The korx picture was still on the diplomacy screen which caused a crash.I then tested from the last autosave and this time all of the Korx planets became the altarians planets, i tried to look at the planet details menu from one of the new altarians world and it crashed.

It's happened to me twice more this morning. The first time I completed the economic capital and got the window announcing that, the second time the diplomacy window popped up and the Korx presented me with 168bc. Both times the event completion icons got hung up and didn't drop. Hope this provides a clue to someone.

I got the reversed technology items in a couple of my offers. However, when you look at what is on the table there isnt actually anything on offer from your side. If you accept you just take their technology. You can see that your technology still remains in your list of possible offers for a new trade.

Just updated to 4b.
Game still crashes when trying to run from start menu shortcut. Will run fropm Gal Civ II configurator, or from.GalCiv2 exe in installation directory
Running Windows 2000 SP4, Galciv2 installed on secondary drive- J:\galciv2

Having managed to get logged into the metaverse, and completing a game, I got a popup asking if I wanted to post it to the metaverse. When I said yes, it told me that I needed to enter a password for the user name. The strange thing is that there was no user name filled in, and while I could enter a password I could not enter a user name. The server said it did not accept the user name/password, which doesn't surprise me since there was no user name.
