[MOD] Queen of Thorns - Balance mod with new skill Nutrient Extraction v1.12

[MOD] Queen of Thorns - Balance mod with new skill Nutrient Extraction v1.12

http://www.mediafire.com/?awnynxztrt1

Hello all QoT players,

Many people complain always about QoT's weakness, and useless skills. The most recent complain is about the supposed "Buff" that SD/GPG gave her. This so-called Buff, made entourage a kinda useless skill, and made it worth getting ground spikes over Entourage, since the buffs were not worth it.

I personally never play QoT, (excuse me but I dont like her), but when i play against her, it is almost certain that with any character, i will drive her away, since she lacks the neccessary dps.

XaviorsFist suggested/requested a replacement for the Entourage skill. And so i tried to do it. But i failed and asked for some help in his forum post. Ptarth offered to look at my code modification, and showed me my mistakes in the code.

So please give credit to Ptarth.

Anyway, enough with my blah blah blah. The changes are:

Nutrient Extraction

The shambler buffs are gone, instead it now has a Life Steal Aura, which is useful not only for QoT and her minions, but also for allied demigods. After all, QoT is a support character. Sedna has 2 Aura skills for a loooong time. Its only fair.

Nutrient Extraction I: Queen of Thorns gains a Life Steal Aura. Life Steal for all allies increased by 8%

Nutrient Extraction II: Queen of Thorns gains a Life Steal Aura. Life Steal for all allies increased by 12%

Nutrient Extraction III: Queen of Thorns gains a Life Steal Aura. Life Steal for all allies increased by 15%

Tribute:  Queen of Thorns demands tribute from her subjects. Gold production increased by 6. (I buffed tribute a little, in order to make it a little useful. It is a level 15 skill after all, +4 gold was like nothing)

Summon Shamblers

I buffed the shambler HP and damage gain, in order to compensate for Entourage's lack of shambler buffs.

Summon Shambler I:  Changed the cost from 450 to 350 mana.  ( Summoning 1 shambler for 450 mana seemed A LOT)

Summon Shambler II:  Buffed shambler damage from 5 to 11. Buffed shambler HP from 125 to 275.

Summon Shambler III:  Buffed shambler damage from 10 to 20. Buffed shambler HP from 250 to 525.

Summon Shambler IV:  Buffed shambler damage from 15 to 30. Buffed shambler HP from 375 to 750. Changed the cost from 975 to 850.

Updated to 1.12 - The changes are:

- Fixed the Life Steal Aura effect of Nutrient Extraction skill

Updated to 1.1 - The changes are:

- Changed the name "Entourage" to "Nutrient Extraction".

- Reduced mana cost for Summon Shambler I skill further, to 350 mana.

- Added an effect to the Life Steal Aura of Nutrient Extraction skill for all allies.

Any feedback, suggestions, etc is greatly appreciated ;)

As far as life steal goes against creeps it is fine, but against towers and demigods. Always pack a spare bramble shield because the damage is far to great from any demigod for the heal to make a difference. Whether it's healing those around her make a difference I can't say because I really haven't noticed everything that comes with in the range of a tower dies in a few seconds anyways.

Shamblers 4 may still cost too much. Ok is there something special that could be done with both level 4 shamblers and yetis to make them worth it?

Hmm...I reduced the cost to 850 mana. Is it still too much? I mean at level 3 it costs 625 mana, and it summons 2 shamblers. At level 4, if i reduce it further it would cost a little more than 625. That would not be very balanced imo.

Any suggestions about it?

What about giving them a fun ability? I don't know, like slow effect (might be OP :P) or throw small units into the air? (wtf?!)
well you get the picture.
And about life steal; what Heavenlysynn said.

I still say we give shamblers atack a < shape, because that way it has wiegth the further it gets. Shamblers have the further AA out of everything in the game so that line is simply at a disadvantage.

I didn't get it either.
Anyway, I just had a fun game against the AIs, I gave all my points on Minion abilities and I only bought Minion gear. My Shamblers had 2200 hp at the end and made some fatal damage with their auto attack!
Hopefully with this mod a good minion build can be made for QoT. I got one question thought, how good is compost exactly?

EDIT: yes it is 2200 Hp and not 22000 ;P

Do you mean 2200 HP?

Compost is not a good skill, imo.

I think that compost is a great Idea and it's just that it needs some tweaking.
However uproot is nor needed or balanced for this game and should be replaced in my opinion, even thought you succeed in making it heal friendly towers it wont be a funny skill because the upgrade will feel like a waste of points. At least I would just pick up the first uproot and walk around and heal towers with it. I will think about good resolution.

I just noticed that the effect I had added to the Nutrient Extraction skill, did not displayed properly.

lol guys nobody told me^^

Anyway I will upload the mod, with the effect fixed.

Modifying the compost +hp and +attack bonus to apply to the Queen in addition to the Shamblers would probably be one of the best way to balance it. I would use Soul Power as the primary 'ruler' to balance on it, and keep in mind that similar to SP a typical build would probably only get one point in it (a pure minion build would have Nutrient, Summon Shamblers, Mulch, Shield so not a lot of free points).

Uproot healing towers is pretty cool and I think it makes it useful enough. I don't know what else you could really do, except maybe increasing the amount of damage it does to enemy towers or reducing it's cooldown (something like 3 seconds would be interesting if it stacked. You could cast it 3 times in 10 seconds, nuking your mana, but the tower would go down pretty much regardless of what your opponent does).

I agree the compost should be effecting Queen in some way. Regarding Uproot I fear the ability point sacrifice will be to big as ground spikes is already a great tool to bring down towers, either uproot will be useless or OP.

Updated to 1.12 to fix the visual effect of Life Steal Aura.

Proposed Changes:

Make Uproot able to repair friendly towers

Decrease Uproot's cooldown from 15 seconds to 5 seconds (now it is similar to how a TB can keep fire-balling a tower).

Decrease Uproot's mana cost by 50/100/150/200

Buff Entrourage

It's current values:

LevelNameEffect
Level 2 Compost I Unlisted +4 Shambler damage, +60 Shambler health, +20 Uproot dps (200 damage)
Level 5 Compost II Unlisted +6 Shambler damage, +120 Shambler health, +40 Uproot dps (400 damage)
Level 8 Compost III Unlisted +8 Shambler damage, +180 Shambler health, +60 Uproot dps (600 damage)

That's for the 'starting level' of each level of Compost. There are a total of three power-levels, with each level improving upon the prior level by +2 Shambler damage, +60 Shambler health, and +20 Uproot dps.

So, with Compost III at power-level 3 you would currently get +12 Shambler damage, +300 Shambler HP, +100 Uproot dps (1000 damage).

I propose:

LevelNameEffect
Level 2 Compost I Unlisted +4 Shambler damage, +80 Shambler health, +100 QoT HP, +50 Queen Mana, +40 Uproot dps (400 damage)
Level 5 Compost II Unlisted +6 Shambler damage, +140 Shambler health, +175 QoT HP, +75 Queen Mana,  +60 Uproot dps (600 damage)
Level 8 Compost III Unlisted +8 Shambler damage, +200 Shambler health, +250 QoT HP, +100 Queen Mana, +80 Uproot dps (800 damage)

This makes it very similar to Oculu's King of the Minotaurs ability (and probably better). This is offset by the fact that the Queen constantly has to be killing units in order to maintain the buff (you lose one level every 7 seconds, and creep waves come every 31 seconds, realistically you would have at least 10 seconds where you would have no creeps to kill so you would drop a level during this time, plus the time it takes to mature the buff in the first place it goes up one level per three creeps that YOU kill, there are 5 minotaures + 2 archers per wave, so it would take a few waves to max up your level anyway).

I buff'd it the following ways:

Give a +100 Queen HP, +50 Queen Mana, increase the base Shambler HP bonus by 20, and the base Uproot bonus by 20 dps.

Then for every increase of power-level, give the Queen an additional +75 HP and +25 Mana on top of the current bonuses.

So, with Compost III and a power-level of 3 you would have:

+8 Shambler Damage, +320 Shambler HP, +400 QoT HP, +175 Qot Mana, +120 Uproot dps (1200 damage).

This isn't a huge 'buff' to Compost, strictly, speaking. But I think you could have a minion-Uproot build.

With 1 point in Compost and 3 points in Uproot you would have the ability to 2300 fire-and-forget damage to towers every 5 seconds for 645 mana each.

Possible build:

1. Bramble Shield I

2. Uproot I

3. Summon Shambler I

4. Compost I

5. Mulch I

6. Uproot II

7. Uproot III

8. Spike Wave I

9. SAVE

10. Mulch II, Spike Wave II

You would have fantastic tower-pushing capabilities and there would be very little that an enemy demigod could do to stop you. However, you give up a lot of your support role (you have a very weak shield. Shield is only really good for the first few levels, though anyway, so you get it early game to dominate the lanes instead of putting more points into it where by level 8 or 9 it goes down in 3 seconds anyway with three points in it) and you also would have no Spike Wave which makes you weaker in 2v2 or 3v3 engagements. You would probably be best in a lane by yourself, possibly Mana side on Light, because you could pretty much work their gold towers with impunity while having decent survivabliity thanks to Mulch.

I'm not sure how well you would be able to hold a lane, however, which is a big deal. However, your tower would never go down (you can heal it like crazy, even if 2 demigods are working it at once) and they would have been tower-raped.

You would also be able to stack HP a little better than most Queens because you would need 2 Uproots and a few auto-attacks to kill a tower, which is 'only' 1500 mana, which is farrrr less mana than typical Queen would burn though. You could probably do okay with Vlemish + Unbreakables, if you shielded at base and also used your Summon Shambler at base to conserve mana for Mulching later. You could probably afford to go Blood of the Fallen as well. Compost would help a tiny bit as well.

Level 10 with:

Haubrek of Life (for the minion HP since you have no points in Entourage and only 1 in Summon, though compost also helps keeps minions alive)

Nimoth

Banded Armor

Unbreakble Boots

Vlemish

BotF

Compost I  = + 225 HP

You would have :

5530 HP, 3866 Mana, (enough to rape 2 towers and give a few mulchs)

166 dps

29 hps + 50% while closed == 42 hps (think about mulch too)

20.81 mps+ 50% while closed == 30 mps

If you replace the Banded Armor with a Plenor you lose 400 HP and gain 1050 Mana (which is basically enough mana to kill an additional tower in 10 seconds ;) ).

This would be a fantastic pure-siege demigod and really be nice at that. Poor demigod-versus-demigod combat, however, so you would be pretty dependent on winning through catapults and then portal-ninja as well as constantly harassing their gold flag since they have no towers to port to, giving you a slight gold advantage.

Probably work their corner tower, then as you are trading the XP flag, work on one of the middle towers. After you got Uproot 3 you would take down a tower every 10-15 seconds, assumign you have mana. Think about that Queen in your middle xP.

Dunno how awesome it would be, like I said, you would have very poor lane control or pushing. But they would have no towers -> nothing to teleport to, makes ganking harder.

(insert attacking shambler here) - (insert enemies here) (current shambler attack)

(insert attacking shambler here) < (insert enemies here) (the change)

Last time I checked; shamblers have the longest auto attack.

The (-) is their current auto attack range and animation.

The (<) Is the change in the wiegth and animation I wish to see, as it gets further out the autoattack gets wider.

Better?

Spike Wave cost reduced to 600/800/1000 mana.

TAXES ARE TOO HIGH....... (Tribute joke just ignore it)

We need something more than just reduced mana even though that is needed.

Mini-stun + slow effect? Maybe we should consider Spike Wave to also slow Queen a little to make it more of a team ability?
