Federation and Empire

Federation and Empire

This had begun as a collection of starships based upon the Star Fleet Universe and other sources and has now evolved into the development of a full complete mod.

What you can expect to see:
9 custom major races to choose:
United Federation of Planets; Klingon Empire; Romulan Star Empire; Kzinti Hegemony; Lyran Star Empire; Hydran Kingdom; Gorn Confederation; Tholian Holdfast; and the Interstellar Concordium.

8 Custom minor races.

Custom technology trees and weapons set up for each race.
Custom player useable shipstyles for every race.

2 Custom Immense Maps: "Federation and Empire" and "The General War"

Custom Campaign: "ISC Invasion"

Starship sets are being developed now and available for use here:

http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?a=2985422

I gladly accept ideas for this mod and collect ships that you make to add to the ship sets. Feel free to share your ideas. I'd love to see your screenshots as well.

Besides, Ferenginar and Cardassia MUST make that cut of any Trek Majors' Homeworlds - unless, you'd decide otherwise of course.

but the Frangi and the Cardassion are major factions in the star trek univers.
but this is the starfleet univers the don't apper in it.

This is true. Although for some of the ships I've been using sources other then Star Fleet Universe, such as FASA or actual movie/tv show reference my mod is Star Fleet Universe focused.

That being said, Remus in my mod will be the one from Star Trek canon. Remans will be a slave race.

I wouldn't mind using Frengi and Cardassian as minor races. I've considered making their ships.

Someone once asked me to do Vulcan. Not sure I can pull that off but I've considered them.

I have never seen this happen before? Hardware issue? Anybody have an idea on this one? What I would suggest is to delete all trace of the ships in: C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor\For now ignore the shipcfg folder located: C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight\Data\ShipCfgOk now reload only the ships, shipstyles, shiptemplates, and the logos of the ship packs you want to:C:\Documents and Settings\My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor\Ok as for all those shipcfg folders in the ship pack? Ignore them. Use the backup file I uploaded here: ShipCfg BackupI'm sorry, I haven't explain my problem very accurately. The mod I'm having trouble with is SF Federation Vessels 3rd Edition. The game is working fine and individual parts look fine and so do all the ships that aren't part of Federation style. The Federation ships are either completely messed up (e.g. the only thing visible on them is the saucer section and a part or two on the back side of it turned in some crazy angle) or there aren't any parts on them at all (e.g. just the base cube). So far nothing I tried managed to fix it

Only thing I can think of is that you put the files in the wrong spots. You are the only one that has come up with this problem to the best of my knowledge. Hopefully the only files you put in the ShipCfg folder in C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight\Data\ShipCfg are the three FED prefix ships found in the zipfile's ShipCfg file.

Speaking of which I did find problems with that folder, not necessarily problem but I didn't need to make a complete folder that you would need to overwrite the whole folder.

Awaiting for approval is a 2nd Edition of my Federation and Empire ShipCfg backup zip file. The old one had the wrong files in it so this one fixes that and has included the 3 files to make the 2nd Edition of Romulan ships, Player usable. The new Romulan zipfile should be approved the same time the new ShipCfg backup. 3rd Edition Federation ships will come back then too. If you(whoever reads this) has a working version of the 3rd Edition Federation ships then you don't need to download it again.

My suggestion is for you to delete all files with ships you downloaded and reinstall them when they return. Please follow the direction and double check you are putting the files in the correct spot.

I'm sorry this is the only thing I can think of since your situation is unique.

Hey guys! Been on a bit of a vacation. Glad to see that the Kingon's, Gorn, and Romulan's are updated. What are you working on next Ronin? And would you be interested in any new designs for the 4 races that are done? I have played around with some Kzinti ships. Let me know what you are interested in. Russ

let see some Kzinti since they are next

Ok....Here are the Kzinti ships that I have built so far. The Caravan Class is all your support ships in one hull. That would be the Colony, Mining, Troop Transport, Constructor, and Trader ships. But then I just am a bit lazy at this time. IMG]http:/[/img92.imageshack.us/img92/2267/gc2takzintipatriarchy12ct2.jpg[/IMG]

Here is the Fast Patrol Ship that I made.

Here is the two fighters that I came up with.

Then here is the Strike Cruiser and the Heavy Cruiser

This is the Freighter
I definitely could use some of those. E-mail them to me in a zip file. I have a few ideas for cargo ships but I'll use your caravan class, not a freighter though, I got something else in mind for that.

Yours of course will be modified a bit. The weapon arms on Kzinti ships will use what I have shown on reply #32.

You really did however give me ideas on how to get around some design issues. If you really want a challenge you should try the Tholians. I have been racking my brain on how to pull it off. I think I know how to do it and I will work on them after the Lyran which will be done after Kzinti. But if you want to try your hand on the Tholians it would be nice to see someone else's take on them.

That's cool with me. Must admit that I had been playing around with the Kzinti ships for a bit. Before I had seen your posting (32) of your ships. I do like what you came up with as well. As for the Tholians......do you have any photos of ones you have been working on? Or say have a one that you have build that I could study and see what I can do? They are going to be a challenge. With the building limitations in the game.

Ok well I reviewed the Kzinti ships you sent. The 2 tiny hulls will remain without change and I will keep the cargo hull you sent too. The others I'm using for reference so. I got 10 more to make.

Well, I have tried with the newly approved ships, and still the same problem.
If it helps, here is the screenie of how they looked and still look:

You got to be putting something in the wrong spot somewhere. I can see from that screenshot that even the normal spaceminer is messed up. You got the right shipcfg file installed? Use the provided backup folder I posted to the library.

Its the only thing I can think of. Afraid you are the only one with this problem to date.

It's kinda hard not to put them in the right place :P
But, can it be by some chance that any of your files use absolute paths (if paths are needed at all, I haven't checked them out) because my game is not installed in the default folder?
Thanks Ronin........that makes me very happy. Glad that you like what I did. Don't have much hair left. And what is left is going over to the Tholians...... :p They are a challenge. Oh, by the way......Great job on the Romulan's, Gorn and Klingon's !

Try this for help with Tholians:
Tholian Ships

If you want to try something else how about the Hydrans?

They don't have an absolute path. I know this since with the last patch they still work perfectly and the directory changed. I don't know what is wrong but this I can offer you. I can e-mail a zip file of my:

C:\Documents and Settings\

Hay Ronin just wanted to say great job, I am really loving the Romulans new pack.

Ok Ronin: Here is one design I have worked on. A colony ship. Take a look and tell me what you think.

Hummm Hydrans....That could be interesting to try. :CONGRAT:

Not bad. Those look exactly like my early attempts. :) I built some Tholians identical to that but then tossed them out. I felt they looked too bulky for Tholians.

I got an idea I'll try out.

Well I am glad that I am not the only one that feels that way. Kinda lukewarm over how it looks. Tosses paper over shoulder and starts to scribble again. ;)

Ship construction update.

I have all Saturday to work on Kzinti. The last couple days I've been making the transparent .png files for race logos of the Tholian Holdfast and Kzinti Hegemony.

Oh and Freeman, your Luna class is driving me nuts. I haven't given up but I had to put it aside for a day or so. 24th Century Federation ships are very hard.

Well......this is my first attempt at a Hydran Stinger Fighter. Me-thinks its looks more like something for the Orion's instead.
