Federation and Empire

Federation and Empire

This had begun as a collection of starships based upon the Star Fleet Universe and other sources and has now evolved into the development of a full complete mod.

What you can expect to see:
9 custom major races to choose:
United Federation of Planets; Klingon Empire; Romulan Star Empire; Kzinti Hegemony; Lyran Star Empire; Hydran Kingdom; Gorn Confederation; Tholian Holdfast; and the Interstellar Concordium.

8 Custom minor races.

Custom technology trees and weapons set up for each race.
Custom player useable shipstyles for every race.

2 Custom Immense Maps: "Federation and Empire" and "The General War"

Custom Campaign: "ISC Invasion"

Starship sets are being developed now and available for use here:

http://library.galciv2.com/index.aspx?a=2985422

I gladly accept ideas for this mod and collect ships that you make to add to the ship sets. Feel free to share your ideas. I'd love to see your screenshots as well.

well its a real bad pic of it and I talked to a trekkie friend of mine and he straight out said it was Prometheus. Though I know that was just a prototype and not a Section 31 ship.

This link has classified Star Fleet ships. Tell me if its here: WWW Link

Barely even stick figures!!! I was horrible in art class and it took everything I had to even pass. I even almost got booted from the "dot to dot" class haha. Sadly, when the Big Guy upstairs was passing out Artistic type talent...I missed that line totally!

Still, if you need a hand with any mundane stuff let me know...if not Ill still be happy to use your material and give feedback...which is usually like "Wow...AWESOME...GREAT WORK! Hmmm...maybe I have a career as a forum cheerleader!!

Yes. The game Federation and Empire focused on a 15 year war called the General War. This started when the Lyrans(feline race) and the klingons declared war on the Kzinti(feline and gentically related to the Lyrans). The Kzinti were allied with the Hydrans but were still losing.

Worried the Federation was going to step in the Klingons carried out a premptive invasion. This started the General War. Klingons got more then they could chew and got the Romulans to invade the Federation which brought in not only them but the Federation ally the Gorn who really hate Romulans.

Then there is the Tholians who remain neutral but join the Federation Alliance because they don't like Klingons and the Klingons want to exterminate the Tholians.

The final major race is the ISC who weren't the General war but declared war on everyone afterward because they wanted all the races to behave.

I thought I remember a feline race called "catians" or something like that...but then again...maybe thats another game haha

Caithan's are a feline race that is close to the Lyran's and Kzinti. They were introduced as members of the Federation in the Saturday morning cartoon of Star Trek in the 70's. None of the feline races like each other much. Think of the Cait's as House cats. Kzinti as Tigers and Lyrans as Bobcats. The Kzinti's were created by Larry Niven for his Ringworld stories. And then put into the cartoon series as well.

The ISC is known as the Interstellar Concordium. They came in a the end of of the General War. They decided to pacify all the waring nations. They were a mix of races much like the Federation.

The Interstellar Concordium (ISC). A group of many races that live in peace with each other like the Federation. Because of this and their initial distance from the other empires they were puzzled about the conflicts between the other nations so they sought to pacify them.

They stopped their attacks on the Tholians once they realized the Tholians just wanted to be left alone. The ISC was eventually beaten back only to have the galaxy threatened by the Andromedan Invaders who had technology beyond anything in our galaxy.

Technically takes place before the original series but is not considered true Star Trek canon. Also the Star Fleet Universe makes it clear that the scope of the Next Generation is not part of their timeline.

Duh, call me a Mathematical freak - but i count only 8 races altogether; What about the usual Krynn's last spot and what else.
Oh, okay... you've got that covered too, right?
What's soooo tough about the real genuine Tholians triangular sort_of_diamonds, btw?

Tholians are a real @#$%#@# to make. But I think I got it covered. Too many exact angles on there ships. I think I know how to get around it.

As for the last spot. I don't think I'll have one. Originally it was going to be the Andromedan Invaders but according to the Star Fleet Universe they never really established any true territory(empire) in our galaxy. They were invaders so they will take the place of the Dread Lords.

So why keep a spot blank? You guys realize how many parts are on these ships? Many of them are complex using multiple extension pylons just to get pieces in the right spots. Sure I got lucky and only had to use 1 piece for the Federation warp engines but the Klingons need 4 pieces to complete the look.

Simply put the more complex the ships the more effort your computer system has to use. Play on Immense Galaxy with not 8 but 9 races, your computer will hate you. Also bare in mind that all the minor races will have custom ship designs too.

Not sure about that. Both races (Kzinti and Lyran) are well known for eating their prisoners but the Lyrans took the Klingon's side in the war.

Yes, i simply forget the Hardware_Factor at times. It's easy to get overwhelmed by perfecting a couple of angles on numerous components already assembled - just taking the Barracuda apart and having added just four simple "hide-outs" slap gizmos onto it did, in fact, stress the rendering of it a tiny bit too much to my taste.

Key is to find the correct balance between precision and overall appeal vision-wise which is to say, that your ships really DO amaze me in view of this proper handling of available elements and how attachments must be used and resized to make it all effective & fast enough to deploy on the UI.

Reduce the fleet counts (of some races) if you absolutely should since, sometimes, it might be easier to simply grab a template & use it as a general 'asset' to let the players self_define the possible other classes - indirectly.
