Hi all and welcome to round 4 and a new season of the MV League. First i would like to congratulate the Celestial Crusaders for their victory in season 1.

A big welcome to all our new players that have joined us. We hope you like the league as much as the rest of us do, and we hope you stay with us for a long time.

Please check out this thread guys, The MVL and the AltMeta, we have been trying to get the MVL into the AltMeta for a while and now we are finally on the road to do this. We do need your support though. It will not be a quick and easy process for Kryo but he is willing to do this if there is the support to go with it. Please drop by this thread and lend your support to this effort.

As most of you know we shook things up for this round with a player draft. For those that we unaware of this i will explain. We have a new team for this season, The Eternal Evildoers/Villainy (not sure yet on the name) and to fill this new team in a fair manner and to try and create a level playing field across all teams we instigated a draft. The captain of each team stayed a member and everyone else went into the player pool.(Silverbeacher was appointed Team E captain).

Each team then had two draft picks each and the rest of the team spots filled randomly.

So here are the new look teams,

As the league expands there is a need for more people to help administer and run the league. Here is a rundown of "official" positions.

Commissioner - Neilo
Vice Commissioner/Score Keeper - Firebender
Score Keeper - Silverbeacher
Rule Moderation - Mumblefratz

Also we have two current threads guys, the MVL Round 4 Draft and Discussion thread and the MVL Rulebook thread.

It is in the MVL Rulebook thread that all rules for the league will be kept. Mumblefratz will keep the OP of that thread updated with the current rules as they change across rounds. Bar for a change in the way ties are managed i do believe that the rules are very similar as to round 3.

Without further delay here is the Round 4 challenge,

A Diplomatic Victory(alliance) in a small map with 5 opponents.

Habitable planets - Abundant
Number of stars - Occasional
Number of planets - Common
Star density - Tight Clusters
Anomolies - Common
Asteroids - Rare
Tech rate - Very fast
Minors - random (enabled in DL)

Enable,
Blind Exploration
Mega Events
Super Abilities
Surrenders
Tech trading
and of course all victory conditions.

Please guys leave all discussion to the Round 4 Draft and Discussion thread, as to leave this thread free for game submissions. It does get hard to sift through alot of posts to find a submitted game. Thanks.

I see. It won't as simple when you start the next round at December 7th though.

Does that mean that I can do another game?

Explaining situation:
I thought that the round was ending on 26th November and knowing that it was only a slight possibility that I could complete another game before midnight EST I put up that game in case I missed the deadline altogether so as not to be a Noshow.

Unfortunately, going by precedent, such as with Dys in Round 4; once a submission is made to this thread it is considered official. If Neilo or Mumblefratz have anything to add, subtract, or contradict me with, then by all means but well...the ending date is in the OP and is static such as the round conditions. Sorry bud

Neilo already made the same pronouncement at the top of this page.

This is why everyone should push for having *all* relavant information for the round in the same place then everyone knows where to find everything. Also when someone does notice that something is missing they should make a fuss to make sure it gets included. That's what I did at the very beginning of this thread specifically about the end date.

As an aside as part of moving the MVL onto the AltMeta we should have a single page that shows all of the settings for the current round. I'm sure Kryo could easily incorporate the random selection of the settings by the software. This would relieve Neilo of having to roll his 10 sided dice (just kidding) and also ensure that all settings are displayed the same each time and avoids missing a setting or two (like tech trading which wasn't mentioned initially this time).

If so, I'm asking that our captain be prepared to do so for me. I still haven't started a league game and time is getting short. I won't be able to start one tonight either. Tomorrow evening would be the earliest, if at all.

I sincerely apologize to my teammates and the league. I'll do my best to get something going tomorrow, but it's not likely to be a stellar game.

PlayJeff is correct, if you had a game that fit the criteria for this round but had for some legitimate reason thought you wouldn't be able to make the deadline, with your permission, I would be able to submit a game on your behalf. If, as it sounds, you have RL issues and also do not have a game that you will be able to submit, then normally the Commissioner is able to choose a random player from said team to play a back up game. In this case, since Neilo is on said team, I doubt it is best for him to make that decision.

So, best option is that you, Motti, are able to manage a submission for this round and that is the game that will be counted for scoring purposes.

That being said, I move for the Vice-Commissioner to randomly select a member of Team E (thus not including MottiKhan or TheDoomBringer) to play a back up game for submission for Round 4.

As a clarification to the above post for those that may be unaware. Due to a complete lack of communication and contact with a player, that last visited these forums before the beginning of Round 4, the Vice-Commissioner and Rule Keeper have stated that Team E is now considered a 4 man team.

And just so everyone knows, i have had no part in the above discussions as i am apart of team E that my role as commissioner was a contradiction so all rulings on this matter have fallen to others.

HMMMM.... its coming a little late. However, even though I am not part of the ruling unless it demonocratic, I 2nd or 3rd it as it seems to have a backup played randomly selected by FireBender.

This is quite a predicament. Team E is now a 3 man team. However, Motti never said anywhere that it is impossible for him to submit. For all we know, he could be working on a 50K game right now.

But just in case, the random number generator has spoken: SilverBeacher
You will be required to submit two games. Since you have no games that satisfy the round's criteria, this will be extra pressure but the picking was random.

I'd advise first doing your own game and then completing a game for Motti. The game you complete for Motti will be counted in the Roster once the round is over. Not before. No submission in this thread required.

Thank you for responding quickly. Yes, ideally, Motti will submit a game in time and that will be the one that is counted; I just wanted to have a fail-safe in place.

I finished a game on 11/25/2007 with my character Brezelius. It was : Neutral alignment, 5 yrs., Political Victory, score:3570, Normal difficulty, Small Galaxy. I think I followed all the game conditions required for round 4. I wish to submit this for the Bladrunners (sorry, not much of a score) I have not figured out how to post an image of the result (I have not taken the time to go through the directions given earlier), but I would like the score count so that I do not count as a "no show".

Just to be specific that was Doombringer wasn't it?

Otherwise it seems the process is working smoothly.

Now if I can only get those darn Korx to close. I've given them planets, 11 fully populated influence starbases, money and tech, 10 trade routes and even influence mining starbases. Getting them friendly is no problem but no close. Damn.
