Hi all and welcome to round 4 and a new season of the MV League. First i would like to congratulate the Celestial Crusaders for their victory in season 1.

A big welcome to all our new players that have joined us. We hope you like the league as much as the rest of us do, and we hope you stay with us for a long time.

Please check out this thread guys, The MVL and the AltMeta, we have been trying to get the MVL into the AltMeta for a while and now we are finally on the road to do this. We do need your support though. It will not be a quick and easy process for Kryo but he is willing to do this if there is the support to go with it. Please drop by this thread and lend your support to this effort.

As most of you know we shook things up for this round with a player draft. For those that we unaware of this i will explain. We have a new team for this season, The Eternal Evildoers/Villainy (not sure yet on the name) and to fill this new team in a fair manner and to try and create a level playing field across all teams we instigated a draft. The captain of each team stayed a member and everyone else went into the player pool.(Silverbeacher was appointed Team E captain).

Each team then had two draft picks each and the rest of the team spots filled randomly.

So here are the new look teams,

As the league expands there is a need for more people to help administer and run the league. Here is a rundown of "official" positions.

Commissioner - Neilo
Vice Commissioner/Score Keeper - Firebender
Score Keeper - Silverbeacher
Rule Moderation - Mumblefratz

Also we have two current threads guys, the MVL Round 4 Draft and Discussion thread and the MVL Rulebook thread.

It is in the MVL Rulebook thread that all rules for the league will be kept. Mumblefratz will keep the OP of that thread updated with the current rules as they change across rounds. Bar for a change in the way ties are managed i do believe that the rules are very similar as to round 3.

Without further delay here is the Round 4 challenge,

A Diplomatic Victory(alliance) in a small map with 5 opponents.

Habitable planets - Abundant
Number of stars - Occasional
Number of planets - Common
Star density - Tight Clusters
Anomolies - Common
Asteroids - Rare
Tech rate - Very fast
Minors - random (enabled in DL)

Enable,
Blind Exploration
Mega Events
Super Abilities
Surrenders
Tech trading
and of course all victory conditions.

End of round - Midnight NOV 30 2007 (forum time)

Please guys leave all discussion to the Round 4 Draft and Discussion thread, as to leave this thread free for game submissions. It does get hard to sift through alot of posts to find a submitted game. Thanks.

I'd like to volunteer myself for substitution should any other players join the league (since the teams look equally sized atm). I have little to no free time atm, and just don't have the energy/time to get excited about the league atm.

If nobody takes my spot, I'll do a quick game of some sort towards the end just to keep the team good. But I would prefer to not be involved until my schedule cools down and I have the time to be excited about GC again.

I think it is safe to assume this is an informed non-submital. His last post was Oct 31 and his last visit was Nov 13th. He has no game for the current round. Only problem is, it is far too late for someone from team C to play a backup game to replace Vilgan and after checking there are no other games by team members to use as a back up either.

I think it might be best just to consider team C a 4 person team until such time vilgan returns.

Any objections?

Elwood has a game in the Mv that meets this rounds requirements.

Drengin has a character in the MVL Empire but no games recorded.

As a clarification to the above post for those that may be unaware. Due to a complete lack of communication and contact with a player, that last visited these forums before the beginning of Round 4, the Vice-Commissioner and Rule Keeper have stated that Team E is now considered a 4 man team.

Just to be specific that was Doombringer wasn't it?

Otherwise it seems the process is working smoothly.

Now if I can only get those darn Korx to close. I've given them planets, 11 fully populated influence starbases, money and tech, 10 trade routes and even influence mining starbases. Getting them friendly is no problem but no close. Damn.

The AI is going to ignore your gifts after you start going overboard. Just wait for them to get close to you. Btw, if your not the same alignment as them it seriously disables your chances of getting close. Or simpler still, kill them.

I might be able to get a game in before the deadline after all. I started one and it's almost at the end of year one. I hope to get off of work on time to get home and finish it.

@Mumblefratz - I'm seeing the same thing as you are. Friendly is as good as it's gotten so far, but I haven't tried that hard to ally with anyone yet. Good luck on yours.

I had to back up the game to year two because commiting genocide is a real heavy weight to get rid of. But that puts a real crimp into developing the huge military might advantage that seems to make them cower in fear. I have the Korx at 4 pluses with a minus for "our close borders" that flickers in and out. I think I may have to actually pay someone to start a war with the Korx so that I can reply to their request for assistance and gain a plus for "our historical friendship". I know I can get another plus on the military advantage but I have all ten of my trade route with them and still only have a single trade plus. From the Wiki it takes two years without a war to get "our historical friendship".

This has been the most difficult game so far. I had just assumed I could easily get "close" with a huge military advantage and it's not so easy. I had many turns into building my military SB array and the ships under it that I had to give up by going back. At this point I'll be happy with a simple win of the correct type.

Oh, and congrats on taking the nuber one spot in the metaverse!

Getting a race from friendly to close can be tough! I had 2 double pluses and 4 single ones, and still not to close. Seems to me that it is easier when Good or Neutral. Anyway, my submission for Round 4.

Well I regret to say that that I have to post a defeat. Well not a real defeat but a win of the incorrect type which amounts to almost the same thing.

I lost a day going down the wrong garden path and I probably could have made it with another day. C'est la vie.

Anyway I will resubmit this later for the correct alliance win just for kicks but a 1 point win of the wrong type is better than nothing at all. Sorry to my new Team A teammates. Anyway here's the game.



I assume that everyone is aware that a win of the incorrect type is *not* eligible for any bonuses. Oh well.

Kzinti, just going through all the submitions and compiling scores and got a bit lost with yours. What character did you post that with mate, as i couldn't find it. I did know some players were having error 12 issues and i couldn't remember if you were one of them or not mate.

I'll have to admit defeat. My game won't be near any type of conclusion short of a resignation. There just wasn't enough time with all of th other stuff happening.

Sorry about that team. I wish I cold have started earlier, but it wasn't possible.
