Metaverse League Round 4

Hi all and welcome to round 4 and a new season of the MV League. First i would like to congratulate the Celestial Crusaders for their victory in season 1.

A big welcome to all our new players that have joined us. We hope you like the league as much as the rest of us do, and we hope you stay with us for a long time.

Please check out this thread guys, The MVL and the AltMeta, we have been trying to get the MVL into the AltMeta for a while and now we are finally on the road to do this. We do need your support though. It will not be a quick and easy process for Kryo but he is willing to do this if there is the support to go with it. Please drop by this thread and lend your support to this effort.

As most of you know we shook things up for this round with a player draft. For those that we unaware of this i will explain. We have a new team for this season, The Eternal Evildoers/Villainy (not sure yet on the name) and to fill this new team in a fair manner and to try and create a level playing field across all teams we instigated a draft. The captain of each team stayed a member and everyone else went into the player pool.(Silverbeacher was appointed Team E captain).

Each team then had two draft picks each and the rest of the team spots filled randomly.

So here are the new look teams,

As the league expands there is a need for more people to help administer and run the league. Here is a rundown of "official" positions.

Commissioner - Neilo
Vice Commissioner/Score Keeper - Firebender
Score Keeper - Silverbeacher
Rule Moderation - Mumblefratz

Also we have two current threads guys, the MVL Round 4 Draft and Discussion thread and the MVL Rulebook thread.

It is in the MVL Rulebook thread that all rules for the league will be kept. Mumblefratz will keep the OP of that thread updated with the current rules as they change across rounds. Bar for a change in the way ties are managed i do believe that the rules are very similar as to round 3.

Without further delay here is the Round 4 challenge,

A Diplomatic Victory(alliance) in a small map with 5 opponents.

Habitable planets - Abundant
Number of stars - Occasional
Number of planets - Common
Star density - Tight Clusters
Anomolies - Common
Asteroids - Rare
Tech rate - Very fast
Minors - random (enabled in DL)

Enable,
Blind Exploration
Mega Events
Super Abilities
Surrenders
Tech trading
and of course all victory conditions.

End of round - Midnight NOV 30 2007 (forum time)

Please guys leave all discussion to the Round 4 Draft and Discussion thread, as to leave this thread free for game submissions. It does get hard to sift through alot of posts to find a submitted game. Thanks.

Yee-hoo! Yip-ta-da-hoo-ha! All my players are good!   

I expected all 4 victory conditions as we already did 1 victory condition per round in 2 rounds. Well whatever.

Thats 25 people in the metaverse league. Thats 1/240,000,0000 of the planets population.    

Also, 80% of the Eternal Evildoers are Tyranny members! That must've been how you agreed to the name.

EDIT: I'm the first poster here in Round 4 as I was in round 3!

I had assumed that if it wasn't in the enable list it was to be disabled.

It's inevitable. All in all the dedicated round threads (i.e. MVL Round 3, MVL Round 4 and counting) are probably the best place for conversation that's disposable because once the round is over there's not much need or desire to revisit these threads. They do get to be 200-250 posts long but ces't la vie.

In any case I have updated the Rules thread OP with what seems to be the concensus of feeling on how scoring works. It did get rather more wordy than I had hoped particularly regarding the non-submissions. Please continue to comment both pro and con.

Also we should try and get all other relavent information into the OP of this thread ASAP.

A reasonable assumption but if this is the case then it should be mentioned in the OP. Also the end date should be specified in the OP as well. If anyone notices anything else they think needs to be in the OP please mention it. It's far easier to add stuff now than it is to resolve problems later due to the lack of a few otherwise minor details.

27th or 26th? Technically one month is the 26th, the 27th is actually a month and a day. All in all I don't really care which it is but it should be included in the OP of the round thread so that there's no question. Once this thread gets up to 250 replies no one will notice what was said in reply #10.

I saw where Neilo mentioned just making it the end of November since the round was started so close to the end of the month. It's in one of these threads I'm sure   , but as Mumble mentioned, it isn't law till it's in this OP of this thread .

Yes I also seen end of the month. Much easier, pay bills then submit game, Not necessasarily(spelling horrid today)in that order.

I was giving this some thought and since we are close to the end of the month, i was thinking that the end date could be the last day in November.

I don't think anyone would complain about having a little extra time. I also think this is well within the perogative of the commissioner to simply specify.

We could even just make a rule that the round always ends on midnight on the same date that the announcement of the round is made but then what do we do if the announcement is made on the 31st and the following month has only 30 days.

I think it's just simplier if we treat the end date almost like one of the required game settings. It's not so important as to precisely when it is as long as it's in the OP and no one has to wonder about it.

I'd like to volunteer myself for substitution should any other players join the league (since the teams look equally sized atm). I have little to no free time atm, and just don't have the energy/time to get excited about the league atm.

If nobody takes my spot, I'll do a quick game of some sort towards the end just to keep the team good. But I would prefer to not be involved until my schedule cools down and I have the time to be excited about GC again.

It's probably never wrong to ask. I was just giving my opinion that I'm fine with whichever way you decide.
