Hi all and welcome to round 4 and a new season of the MV League. First i would like to congratulate the Celestial Crusaders for their victory in season 1.

A big welcome to all our new players that have joined us. We hope you like the league as much as the rest of us do, and we hope you stay with us for a long time.

Please check out this thread guys, The MVL and the AltMeta, we have been trying to get the MVL into the AltMeta for a while and now we are finally on the road to do this. We do need your support though. It will not be a quick and easy process for Kryo but he is willing to do this if there is the support to go with it. Please drop by this thread and lend your support to this effort.

As most of you know we shook things up for this round with a player draft. For those that we unaware of this i will explain. We have a new team for this season, The Eternal Evildoers/Villainy (not sure yet on the name) and to fill this new team in a fair manner and to try and create a level playing field across all teams we instigated a draft. The captain of each team stayed a member and everyone else went into the player pool.(Silverbeacher was appointed Team E captain).

Each team then had two draft picks each and the rest of the team spots filled randomly.

So here are the new look teams,

As the league expands there is a need for more people to help administer and run the league. Here is a rundown of "official" positions.

Commissioner - Neilo
Vice Commissioner/Score Keeper - Firebender
Score Keeper - Silverbeacher
Rule Moderation - Mumblefratz

Also we have two current threads guys, the MVL Round 4 Draft and Discussion thread and the MVL Rulebook thread.

It is in the MVL Rulebook thread that all rules for the league will be kept. Mumblefratz will keep the OP of that thread updated with the current rules as they change across rounds. Bar for a change in the way ties are managed i do believe that the rules are very similar as to round 3.

Without further delay here is the Round 4 challenge,

A Diplomatic Victory(alliance) in a small map with 5 opponents.

Habitable planets - Abundant
Number of stars - Occasional
Number of planets - Common
Star density - Tight Clusters
Anomolies - Common
Asteroids - Rare
Tech rate - Very fast
Minors - random (enabled in DL)

Enable,
Blind Exploration
Mega Events
Super Abilities
Surrenders
Tech trading
and of course all victory conditions.

End of round - Midnight NOV 30 2007 (forum time)

Please guys leave all discussion to the Round 4 Draft and Discussion thread, as to leave this thread free for game submissions. It does get hard to sift through alot of posts to find a submitted game. Thanks.

Hmmm since we have always followed rules and precedents, i don't think we can allow this. we saw a similar situation in one of the earlier rounds where someone tried to re-submit their game and that wasn't allowed so neither could this.

Sorry FB, but barring an overwhelming response in your favor by the players, that above game is to be your submition for round 4.

We should probably discuss this in either the rules thread or the AltMetaMVL thread. But I don't really like this idea.

Actually I would be OK with a very occasional usage of something like this in a case of real life need but to potentially allow everyone to resubmit once on a whim pretty much defeats the purpose of submitting to begin with and adds complication to an already complex process. Submitting your game is a commitment or at least it should be.

Thats the point of having a submission process. You can post as many different games to your character as you wish and then decide which of them you wish to submit. If FB's case is that he anticipates being unavailable at the end of a round for some legitimate reason and he'd like to do another game but doesn't know if he has the time to finish then I'd be fine with allowing it, assuming Neilo approved the merit of the request.

I would say that allowing a re-submission due to real life need would be a good thing to allow but only with special permission from the commissoner, only with demonstrated need, and only very rarely. My 2 cents.

Oh my whole post was with the assumption that you submitted a game in distress as RL had interfered. And then later on once your RL issues were played out and solved you had an opportunity to play a "real" game, not a quick dis-interested game, then we could allow the re-submital.

I guess i assumed that this was the case with FB, and i really shouldn't just assume anything. Sorry will post my thoughts better in the future.

Edit - Not in the ALTMVL thread, it is long enough, and it will only be getting longer.

Btw, anyone seen Vilgan or Elwood?

EDIT: I think we could afford to get a concession if only one of those players were a no-show but if both... we'd be a player down and suffer the -2 penalty.

Thats the long version for insta-lose. The same thing happened to Team D in Round 2. They came last...

I'm around FB, just tend to be the quiet type. Also have been spending a lot of time on another game. But have a GC game going this round and will be submitted. No worries.

Hey, i don't mind having a goofy looking banner....and i like the sound of this "logo creator". Is that something that could be used to make race logo's for in the game?

As for the name we had actually not really settled on one, shocking i know, the two we have are Eternal Evildoers and Eternal Villainy.

You can have the final choice if you like, whatever is easier to come up a banner for, provided the rest of the team don't care, but since the issue has gone on this long i don't think they do.

hey, sure thing... actually, the logo creator is pretty simple and I've used it to make race logo's a few times.

anyway, I redid my own banner with it and you can see the difference...

playjeff... there is a button on the top that looks like a square witha some mountains in it... that is the image button. then you type in the image path in the top row of the little pop-up... ok?
