Lets move on with what is sure to be the best round yet!!!

Hi guys,

Just thought we would move all round 4 discussions here, so no need to troll across three or four threads to find out whats going on.

For those that do not know we are going to have a draft this round. The five teams will get two (2) draft picks each, and beyond that i will randomly place the rest of the teams as i did prior to round 1.

The draft will take place in reverse order of the league ladder,

Team E
Team A
Team B
Team D
Team C

The only players not included in the draft is the 5 captains, as they will do the picking of players. That being said i need to appoint a captain to team e, and since this was discussed i will delay no further.

Silverbeacher is the captain of team e.

The team captains are,

Team A = Dethadder (2nd)
Team B = MarshallOneill (3rd)
Team C = Firebender (5th)
Team D = Kzinti (4th)
Team E = Silverbeacher (1st)

These players are exempt from the draft.

So if we can get on with it, Silver make your first draft pick, then follow on in order guys. I will record the teams as we go.

Once the draft is complete and the teams assigned, i will update this OP with the new teams, also once draft is complete continue on with out discussions here please, it will so much easier than having to check 3 threads.

So Mumble, the deal is still on, right?

I mean you're still gonna choke [on purpose] in exchange for 28 million cores as was our agreement?

I think this is going too slowly. Lets just agree on one timing. The captains are expected to come on that time and make their pick instead of waiting all this while for each to individually show up.

What I meant by this is that we will set a s specific EST time and the captains can figure what that time is in their time zone. So if we set 10 PM on saturday (EST) then all the captains are expected to come on that time and make their choice as soon as the other is done. This way the draft could be over in half an hour. Its already been dragging on for 4 days. I mean, if we finish the draft sooner then we can get on with Round 4.

To furthur elaborate what I said above,
example: the first 4(give or take) picks were within 2 minutes of each other.

OK, the first two rounds of the Draft have been now completed. As it stands:

Team A is DethAdder, Mumblefratz, and Piznit

Team B is MarshallONeil, Drengin, and CornHuskerMac

Team C is FireBender, Dystopic, and Ferrel

Team D is KzintiPatriarch, PlayJeff45, and TheButterfly

Team E is Silverbeacher, MottiKhan, and Neilo

The rest of the available players will now be shuffled randomly by Neilo into each team

yea LOL i made that post after putting away an 18 pack last night. my friend busted up his ankle skateboarding, so we had a party. i'm sure that was half the reason i made no sense, but the university over-education still places in there somewhere

I don't know if this has already been discussed, so here goes my question...

I've noticed Firebender's new default character is a suicidal one (just to take the example that made me stumble across the question).
I remember darkly and vaguely that long ago we had a debate about the minimum difficulty level of a game and it was said that difficulty depended on the deifficulty medal. Does that mean fire has to play his league games on suicidal? Or does it depend on which character he names his default character? Or is he free to choose?

I do not have an anwswer to this, because:
- on the one hand, it would be hard on fire to ask him to play on suicidal or rather silly to make him change his default character
- on the other hand, we are giving away significant bonuses for speed now - so easy levels become more tempting than they used to be in the old days when all that mattered was score.

Possible ideas:
- the character with the most games decides the minimum difficulty. If more than one character has the highest amount of games the higher difficulty counts?
- let's leave it to everybody's personal honor not to turn on cakewalk just to be quicker.

Butter has a valid point. But I have not truly matched suicidal yet. The tactics I use with suicidal are with my goal set. I know in what way I must build up and must predict what the AI will colonize. And above all I must put the AI at a tactical disadvantage to match upto suicidal. And in those games I must make sure that the AI's planets are within my reach of early conquest before their techonological lead kicks in and they start producing attack 16 fighters at December year 0 at which point my 4 attack fighters must form fleets and kill them taking losses.

The learning curve for suicidal is too steep for me to go just willy nilly and kill them like Mumble or Motti or Magnumaniac. The only reason I win is that I put the AI at a tactical disadvantage. Make them do things that will eat their time while I catch up.

One of the first rules we had was that you had to play no lower than your difficulty medal. Playing above or outside your comfort zone was allowed and encouraged. In situations where it was a new character, so of course no medal, than no lower than the medal of your normal MV character.

In this situation, as i understand it (it is getting late for me now) it is only FB's default character that has that medal. (a new character too is it not?) I believe, FB that you play MVL with General Hawkins? Then this is the medal in question. (crippling i think)

I will be soon changing my default character to BMF, who has the tough medal. But my MVL character is The Commissioner and it has a challenging medal so my MVL level of difficulty will not change.

Does this answer your question butterfly? 'Cause re-reading it sounds like all i did was repeat you and state the obvious...lol.

Oh no! I play at Painful, not crippling!   
Thats just the average considering my two suicidal games in General Hawkins.

Oh well, I'll try to win on crippling and satisfy the rules. In either case, if everything goes smoothly the AI will be begging to kiss my dirty feet at the sight of the mega-frigate. New and improved tech formula has been formulated so my mega-frigates will be more efficient(but slower).

EDIT: I can kill suicidal but I can't get them to ally with me!

Team leaders should PM Technician at the Core and you can tell him what password you would like.
