Lets move on with what is sure to be the best round yet!!!

Hi guys,

Just thought we would move all round 4 discussions here, so no need to troll across three or four threads to find out whats going on.

For those that do not know we are going to have a draft this round. The five teams will get two (2) draft picks each, and beyond that i will randomly place the rest of the teams as i did prior to round 1.

The draft will take place in reverse order of the league ladder,

Team E
Team A
Team B
Team D
Team C

The only players not included in the draft is the 5 captains, as they will do the picking of players. That being said i need to appoint a captain to team e, and since this was discussed i will delay no further.

Silverbeacher is the captain of team e.

The team captains are,

Team A = Dethadder (2nd)
Team B = MarshallOneill (3rd)
Team C = Firebender (5th)
Team D = Kzinti (4th)
Team E = Silverbeacher (1st)

These players are exempt from the draft.

So if we can get on with it, Silver make your first draft pick, then follow on in order guys. I will record the teams as we go.

Once the draft is complete and the teams assigned, i will update this OP with the new teams, also once draft is complete continue on with out discussions here please, it will so much easier than having to check 3 threads.

I also hadn't recieved word of a new password, but my old one was still working earlier this morning after Mumble had mentioned it was reset, So maybe Damoose hadn't got to it quite yet.

Damoose's response was not particularly verbose. His response was something like "setup as specified". I'll check it out and give it another poke. I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks . On a semi-related note should the forums be cleared of past posts, since there will be different people on the teams. Not sure if anyone has any feelings about this one way or another, but was wondering if some had secret strats or something they didn't especially want to share with others who likely won't be on their team now(if they even were before).

I don't care one way or another though as Mumblefratz and Purge are always so keen to say "There is no better teacher than actual playing"; all the strategies in the world will pale in the face of the unpredictability of each individual game.

PS hahaha Piz, its too bad you can't have your Tyranny avatar over here; i always picture you sounding like Mr Burns in everything you say, its quite amusing actually....now where's Smithers?

Sorry guys...you how it is with the time zones

I have heard the call..and Kzinti you are the captain. Shadow, please understand i wish not to take your captaincy away but a decision had to be made and Kzinti is bit more active.

Shadow is now part of the player pool guys. I have changed the OP.

Dystopic, how are you all faring over there? The news over here about the fires looked pretty bad and it seemed that the firefighters were in a losing battle.

Quick note too guys, we have a new player. Please welcome Bluntblade in to the league. He pmed me his interest so i have added him to the player pool and just thought i'd make a quick post too.

Haha, the irony, we have Kizinti be captain 'cause he is active atm and when it's his turn he isnot around...and of course Shadow is.....i am chuckling to myself.

actually thats not quite irony It would be ironic if either the only people on for the next day or so was Shadow and Kzinti OR everyone except Shadow or Kzinti but the OTHER members of Team D were on OR finally, if Shadow and Kzinti were never online at the same time but performing the same actions

Some good examples of Irony are a) Oedipus, mistaking a prophecy from the Oracle, kills his father and marries his mother (tragic irony) and b) basketball star pete maravich who had 25 made the comment "i dont want to play in the NBA for ten years and die of a heart attack at 40", of which both actually ended up happening

this is true. however, this can be considered irony if: you consider it dramatic irony, when the audience knows something the actors' characters don't; when you look and those who experience bad side effects of the events considered to be (potentially) ironic; and finally assume an audience that doesn't exist in any emergy ontology (but rather, only the hindsight of twenty-twenty).

this is actually a pet theory of mine, that modern usage of irony is in some ways a way of looking at one self modelled on a sitcom or narrative of some sort, where the "irony" most people identify is proclaimed through latent reference to a cultural narrative.

i'm okay... i'm starting to wonder about work next week, at this point. another fire popped up in fallbrook, and the one on the marine base has spread to the major highway. they found 4 bodies trapped in a canyon earlier today, all severely burned. they don't have a helicopter to spare, and last i heard they were looking for a way in on foot.

it's really kind of surreal for me. for the last couple days, the sunlight has been heavily yellow, all day long, from all the smoke in the air. there's no more need for volunteers at this point, and for the most part i've been stuck at home. the central city has been kind of surrounded by fire, but in the history of southern california firestorms, it's been unprecidented that a wildfire of this sort has spread into the central cities. to make light of it, we joke about being ready to start swimming (my cat would kill me).

i guess we kind of learn to ride it out. people were barbequing at the refuge sites. it might seem callous, but most or all of the homes that have been destroyed were insured: the families will rebuild, even if it takes a significant measure of time. they'll have a lot of community support for it, too. the deaths -and injuries, to be sure- so far, have been horrible, but thankfully and graciously few. i think the community is ready to ride it out for longer if needed, and now we're getting the resources we really need to get things under control. it's a really great place to live, even if it is prone to wild fires, earthquakes and flash floods

I guess i should have attended university instead of trade school.....oh well, i will enjoy yet another can of vodka and return to wiping out the Terran-Altarian alliance that has been selected for pacification. My 235att/150def 40sp Galaxy class frigates are more than a match for the obtuse Terran Navy......

That can be left up to each teams captains who are staying with their original teams. Each captain has moderator privileges in their forum and can delete posts or entire threads. Actually they should also moderate for the normal things like the occasional f-bomb.

However, I recommend that unless someone feels strongly they should just leave things as they are. I think the point of the League is as much about people improving their game as it is about anything else. In reality there are no real secrets of any significance that most everyone doesn't already know. If someone on another team can improve their game from previous advice then more power to them.

Yea I don't see anything in The A team's forum that is all that secretive. I don't believe you can F-bomb even in those forums. The Core has one of the strictest language filters I've ever seen, hell even gets changed to "badword" ..lol.

Actually playjeff empirically determined that you can. I think it may behave differently because of the restricted access. One thing to note related to this is that you don't see any posts in the team private forums appear on the most recent posts lists so you need to actually check for new stuff.

I did make another post about the new passwords but I don't know if Damoose has seen it or taken any action on it yet. I will keep you advised.
