General Homsar's "Whine and Rant" Board!

Need to blow off some steam, but don't think mass genocide of Torians will do the trick?Don't worry, because this is the board for you! Here's my rant: That hundreds of monumentally stupid lawsuits pop up every day, and some even make it to court. For example: Filing HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS against hair salons that charge more for women's hair-cuts.

Are you even READING the thread, you ignorant racist piece of shit?

but my biggest rant for this forum

is when someone comes up with an idea to inhance the game

someone doesn't like the idea but instead of attacking the idea they attack the person

this is the kind of thing i am talking about NO ONE is using cusing or calling people names just becouse said person doesn't like something that someone said

oh and marcothonas were and when did i say anything that was racist

the only one talking makeing racial comments are you

you don't even know what my race is

my rant is that this thread is not about the game or anything real so all of those who are attacking ME on the other thread should not be committing on this one

speacially in support of this one

there is no difference between this and those that i put in

Danilost, i noticed a few threads appearing under your name lately. I read the first couple.... It is your rite to make pointless posts but i can understand why it would annoy people.

It dousn't bother me though, now if i see a post with your name, it is a simple enough thing just to ignore it.

the first computer was designed and built in 1400 or 1500 it was mechinacal in nature

the first computer designed in the united states was in the 1800's for use on a steam locomotive it was to complex and it too was mechinacal in nature

i didn't say that nasa built the first computer i said they may have brought about the use of it

or and ibm did not invent the personal computer

radio shack did

ibm just gets the credit for it becouse they coined the words

and your right velcro wasn't invented by nasa but if nasa hadn't started to use it first you probable wouldn't even know about it

and there is a medical scanner that nasa invented to check shuttle screws on the landing gear

here are some of the 1400 inventions from nasa that help people and industry in the united states as per

WWW Link

Top Left: Athletic shoe design and manufacture also benefited from Apollo. Space suit technology is incorporated into a shoe's external shell. A stress free "blow molding" process adapted from NASA space suit design is also used in the shoe's manufacture.
Top Right: Freeze-dried food solved the problem of what to feed an astronaut on the long-duration Apollo missions

Bottom Left: Insulation barriers made of aluminum foil laid over a core of propylene or mylar, which protected astronauts and their spacecraft's delicate instruments from radiation, is used to protect cars and trucks and dampen engine and exhaust noise.

Bottom Right: Water purification technology used on the Apollo spacecraft is now employed in several spinoff applications to kill bacteria, viruses and algae in community water supply systems and cooling towers. Filters mounted on faucets can reduce lead in water supplies.

Top Left: Process for bonding dry lubricant to space metals led to the development of surface enhancement coatings, which are used in applications from pizza making to laser manufacture. Each coating is designed to protect specific metal group or group of metals to solve problems encountered under operating conditions.
Top Middle: Digital signal-processing techniques, originally developed to enhance pictures of the Moon for the Apollo Program, are an indispensable part of Computer-Aided Tomography (CAT) scan & Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technologies used today worldwide.

Top Right: Vacuum metallizing techniques led to an extensive line of commercial products, from insulated outer garments to packaging for foods & from reflective blankets to photographic reflectors.

Bottom Left: Cordless power tools & appliances are one of the most successful commercial spin-offs of space-based technology.

Bottom Middlet: Cool suits, which kept Apollo astronauts comfortable during moon walks, are today worn by race car drivers, hazardous area workers, & people with specific health problems.

Bottom Right: A hollow retroreflector, a mirror-like instrument that reflects light & other radiation back to the source, is used as a sensor to detect the presence of hazardous gases in oil development, chemical plants, waste storage sites & locations where gases could be released into the environment.

Top Left: Kidney dialysis machines were developed as a result of a NASA developed chemical process that could remove toxic waste from used dialysis fluid.

Top Right: As a medical CAT scanner searches the human body for tumors or other abnormalities, the industrial version, or advanced computed tomography inspection system, finds imperfections in aerospace structures and components, such as castings, rocket motors and nozzles.

Bottom Left: A cardiovascular conditioner developed for astronauts in space led to the development of a physical therapy and athletic development machine used by football teams, sports clinics and medical rehabilitation centers.

Bottom Right: A hospital food service system employs a cook/chill concept for serving food.

after reading about just the cat scanner tell me that the money being spent by nasa is a waste

ok nasa didn't invent the computer but the invented the one thing that makes modern computers possible

Advanced Plastics
Spacecraft and other electronics need very special, low-cost materials as the base for printed circuits (like those inside your computer). Some of these "liquid crystal polymers" have turned out to be very good, low-cost materials for making containers for foods and beverages.

interesting post, thanks Danilost.

I wonder how many of these inventions are a direct result of NASA funding or were invented by staff/labs 'affiliated' with NASA. Affiliated in such a way that they would still exist anyway and would have invented those things anyway if NASA didn't exist?

Yes, I know, the one I posted. Babbage's.

I never said IBM invented the PC. I said they brought it to mainstream use.

You're an ignorant prick who has no idea what he's talking about and since you're not getting banned, I'm done here. Go do the world a favour and shoot yourself.
