[email protected] What a Joke...

I purchased DA on Feb 9, I used the offline activation to play the game on a non internet PC. I haven`t been able to activate the game on my online PC since. I have contacted [email protected] many times. All I get are canned email responses that do not solve anything. I reply to these emails clearly stating that the problem is still there, Only to receive the same canned response again. The new serial number I was just sent also is of no use. The reason I`m posting this is it seems to be the only way to get a real response from this company.

Stardock don't completely destroy your computer with shit copy protection.

Starforce does.

End of discussion.

Hi Marcathonas! Welcome back!

Nice see some explanation for the situation as well as some help and resolution.

Just to let the guys at StarDock know, I have convinced a buddy of mine to purchase the game, buy showing him the game on my computer, his computer was out of date for the game, so with the tax return, this past Saturday, there came the new computer and the first game on the computer GALCIV(DA), some good news to counter the problems.
Now if we could get a little head-to-head(hot seat) I could crush him over several beers.

Oh by the way, I ordered a CD to be sent to me.

Anyone(Stardock) have any idea when that little beauty might show up?
The DA discs were shipped two weeks ago, so I'm not sure why you wouldn't have gotten it yet unless there's some serious disconnect between the USPS and their Canadian counterpart.
I did expect there will be a delay for the disc to go through customs. I`m not ready to start ranting on that quite yet. But, I can`t stop the hypothetical from entering my mind. Wouldn`t that be something if I didn`t get the disc, LOL! Let`s hope this doesn`t morph into a "Lost In The Mail" thread. Ohh...LOL!

I do have a new piece of info for the support staff or anyone(kryo) at Stardock unlucky enough to stumble across this train wreck of a thread. I fired up SDC last night to try my luck at activating DA again. But, SDC does allow me to download both the DL and DA updates. SDC has to recognize me as a paying customer to allow the downloads correct? I downloaded and installed both successfully. DL still runs fine, DA? Of course not, Or I wouldn`t be writing this madness any longer. Why would DA not be activated if I can download and install the 1.5X update? Anyone?
Normally SDC activates the game *after* it downloads it, so whether or not you can successfully activate has no bearing on whether you can download (which only requires the game to be registered on your account).

Have you been asked to right click on DA in SDC and choose the Activate with Logging option? Even if it fails at that, it should generate an activate.log file in SDC's directory that will tell what sort of error it speficially encountered in the attempt.

Never

I found an account.Log file, I didn`t see a
activate.log file

Here`s another piece of info for the support staff if they should happen to see this.

I`m able to play the DA 1.5X update on my offline PC with the original sig.bin file I received. Would I be able to receive a generic sort of sig.bin file via email that I could place in the DA folder of my online PC for activation?
This thread has focused on problems and negativity for the most part. I would like to add something positive too it.

I just played through a game on painful. Med galaxy, 6 races. The Drath were one of those races. It didn`t take too long for them to have 4 of the other races at war with me before they decided to pile on themselves. I have never seen the AI act that decisively before, I have never been spanked like before. I am impressed. Hopefully my activation issue can corrected shortly and this thread will never see the light of day again.

Unfortunately not, each sig.bin is keyed to the Windows installation it is performed on.

This situation seems to get NO better. About a week ago I sent Travis aka Seabass an email asking him if he could give me some idea what he thought the problem might be. My response? Nothing, Silence. Then yesterday this little beauty showed up in my inbox.

Hi,

We have not heard back from you in 72 hours. We are assuming the last fix or suggestion a tech contacted you with has resolved your problem.

If this is not the case, please send an email to [email protected] and open a new ticket with us.

WHAT?!?
TICKET CLOSED?!?

It has been 1 MONTH and I still haven`t received a SINGLE!!! suggestion from support. All I get are automated emails telling me to update my serial #. This is an absolute $%*^@$* JOKE! This is by far the WORST customer support I`ve ever come across. Has anyone at support actually tried to do anything about this? I want this resolved.

Maybe there was some miscommunication somewhere along the way. When I wrote them at [email protected], they responded within a couple of business days.

Some advice which you can feel free to take or leave: give them the benefit of the doubt rather than spewing forth venom and demanding service. A bit of patience and asking them nicely for help (yes, even if you have to do it multiple times) will go a long way towards getting your problem fixed.

A bit of patience

I believe I`ve been more then patient with this.

How long should I wait? I don`t deserve to be a little impatient at this point?
Perhaps, but it isn't really going to help you any to be impatient. As I said, it will probably serve you better to assume there was a miscommunication, and ask nicely for more assistance.

No, it`s not. Miscommunication I can understand, I get no communication other then Kryo on these forum`s. I don`t want to post this, I really don`t. But, I`m not kidding when I write I`m getting zero response from support. I`ve tried being nice. Apparently I only get a response when I rant and rave like a madman. What else can I do here?
I sympathize - really I do. All I can speak from is my own experience, where I sent one email, and they responded back (not a canned response) in a couple of business days. From what I've experienced, Stardock does care about their customers, so there must have been some problem along the way. Either an email to you didn't get delivered, it hit a spam filter, or they thought they sent it to you, and they didn't.

I know I'm not in your shoes, but I do like to give people the benefit of the doubt. After all, what purpose would it serve to deliberately ignore you?

Hey Nick,

Kyro let me know about the update to the post here. I wrote you back confirming your account information with a few questions on March 1st. I have not received an email since then. Please send a response to that 72hr ticket time out you got to open the ticket again. I assure you I have not abandoned you. I can only respond to what I get.

Cheers,
Seabass

I should note that if anyone is having trouble missing responses from support, try checking on the support website using the login you were given when you opened your ticket.
