Okay, good, later I'll do that. I have an issue, I started a low number of players, abundant habitable planets game dropped to normal difficulty. Things were swell until I had a constructor build show up on start-of-turn summary. I go to my capitol planet and instead of the normal map view box showing ships in orbit on the bottom info bar, it reads like it would when you click on fleets. My planet is now apparently a ship (????) and 5 of my freighters are stacked and will not move (????) and the constructor I just built doesn't show at all. I fiddled around and even reloaded but it's still the same. I got annoyed and quit. I can't play if I can't remove ships from orbit, etc. It's really jacked up. This is the first issue I've ever had with GavCiv2 and I do have the 1.4 installed. I'm serious, my planet is now listed as a ship would be. Oddly enough, if you double-click it, you can bring up your planetary screen. That'd be great if I needed no ships, but alas, what is a galactic expand-and-conquer game without the ability to field any ships. Anyone else run into this? I notice ALSO, that this is the first game I STARTED since installing 1.4, my saved games from previous versions appear unnaffected as I have been playing them until this new game.

By double-click on it, I am referring to the planet listed in the info box as a ship in that sector tile, not the actual planet itself on the main map, which always brings up the planetary screen. I thought maybe I should clarify in case someone misunderstood and tries to tell me that supposed to happen. You know how if double click on the ship or stacked ship image on the info bar (not the main map) and it brings up that detailed orders list with auto-this and auto-that, guard, etc? Well, the image on the info bar of the planet, pictured exactly as a ship would be, will still bring up the planetary screen rather than the ship orders menu. It would be a minor glitch except that since I click on the planet itself on the main map, instead of the normal orbital ship data listed for a planet, it treats my clicking on the planet as though I had clicked on a ship that happens to share the same sector tile as 5 stacked freighters, thus it lists first, the 5 stacked and unmovable freighters and then the planet as though it were a scout ship or whatever that also happens to be there, but the icon itself is not a ship picture, but a picture of the planet. Sorry, I'm just terrible at explaining things and didn't think my first post was clear. Here is a picture of it, it will make the issue obvious and you won't have to rely on my rambling, incoherent description. You will notice I have the planet selected. Check out the bottom info bar for my selection. You will see the planet listed in it's own orbit, I guess. Trust me, I cannot move those stacked dhips, nor can you do that in orbit anyway.

Will a save game survive the conversion from 1.4 RC to X ?
For 1.4 RC the only bug i've seen is not being notified of surrendering AIs.

I'm currently playing as the Altarian Republic, and when scrolling in the diplomacy screen there are two instances of 'Alan Bradley: Terran Alliance'. I'm playing with all races (no minors have shown up), and the extra is between the Iconians (last on the list) and the real Terran Alliance (first). It has the same technologies as the real TA, but no ships or planets.

I wouldn't classify this as a bug; more of a 'glitch', really. The attachment points on the Yor medium hull are skewed. I'm talking about the hull in the middle. Try to attach something to the front canard, and it shows up in the rear; but always at the same point. There are other points that do the same thing. This isn't a random thing, it happens the same way every time. Should be easy to fix, though. I play as a custom race, if that makes a difference.

My planet is now apparently a ship (????)

The same happened to me last night. My trading ship was stuck under my planet and I couldn't launch any ships. Instead of making a fleet to destroy the Torians, I had to sit and watch as all my defenders were picked off one by one.

Anomlies that should give experience to crew of a ship do not seem to work.

The dialogue that usually shows up when someone surrenders is missing. though the icon at the bottom right is still appearing.

This isn't really a bug, but the Psyonic Shredder is spelled differently than it's technology.

This is a bug: the Psyonic Shredder has no weapon animation.

On the planetery screens - the discriptions and graphics of the tiles do not match, for example, I selected a mountain range on the main screen, the picture showed a mountain range but the discription said ocean. There are alot of different combinations for this, but if the planetery main map is supposed to be accurate the discription is often well off.

Hello,

can somebody help me.

this game does not seem to work. I love this type of game but I'm really not a good at computers.

anyway, what always happens:

the game starts, you can see the intro. you can choose to start a new game, the music starts playing. choose the options of your campaign. the game starts loading (I, off course get very excited, jeej, game) and then....my computer just shuts down...completely...damn

I checked the debug.err.(took me about two hours to find out wat a debug file is). I also updated via the stardock central to the latest version.

RogerVW, the first thing you should do is update those very old video drivers.

Yes, those are the ones.

You might find them at ATI's website (www.ati.com), or you can go here:

http://www.omegadrivers.net/

You won't be able to use the newest Omega drivers (or the newest from ATI probably) because of your old graphics chip. In the ATI News on the Omega site there is a comment about that and a link to the Archive section where you can get the correct drivers.

If A frieghter has reached a planet, and you click on that planet that turn, it will act as if the planet and the frieghter are stacked ships, and there is no way to access the planet screen.

No notification of an enemy surrendering to another race....just notice it on the minimap.

The build time is wrong when first placing an improvement on the production queue. You have to toggle one of the three focus buttons to get it to display an accurate number of weeks on the production queue. This happens both when there is no initial focus set and when there is a focus set. Bug first reported at v1.31, still happens with v1.4x.

Hello, Shiva. I don't really consider this a problem. This has been around for...well, I don't really remember a time when this didn't happen. I just click on the next planet in line, then click back, and the correct stats appear. I would guess that this has something to do with the way that the game updates stats. Two mouse clicks of your time
translates into hours, or days of dev time to change.

Of course bugs need to be fixed. Adding an item to the build list does not correctly refresh the display. And it's not merely "two mouse clicks of my time" it's multiplied by every player of the game, or worse, giving incorrect information to players who don't realize it's a bug and trust what they see on the screen. If you apply your logic to game design, they might as well layoff a dev or two to save money from fixing those pesky bugs while they're at it. Not a good choice for any serious game development company.

Hi,

I don't know if this an old issue or not (I haven't been around for a while): When upgrading ships in fleet trough manage-dialog, you can upgrade one ship multiple times, i.e., you can pay several times. There is no information that a particular ship is already being updated.

The drath(and only the drath) are still angry about the alignment of my neutral custom race. though they are said to be neutral, too.
Drath not Neutral. Drath GOOD! Drath no like puny Neutral. Drath strong! Drath smash!

/Well, that's my impression of the Drath voice, anyway... They are Good aligned, not Neutral.

Cheats are not working...I use them to spawn minor races during my campain.I thought this had something to do with the mod i was playing B5.So i reinstalled the game..tried with 1.31 and 1.4x, but only cheat key that works is ctrl+B.It just restarts the map..all others are not working!

I posted this in other thread...but just figured this is a bug...well i havent played game since 1.2 update, so if it isnt bug, i can assume that cheats have been taken out of the game...plz can someone confirim and is there quick fix for it?

When someone declares war on me the dialogue does not show up any more (it did with 1.31). Also, as somebody mentioned already, the screen when someone surrenders is now missing. Apart from not being able to read their comments any more (shame really..!), war declarations and surrenders now come pretty much as a surprise if you don“t happen to notice the according icons (which are still appearing).

Should get fixed in the next patch .

Workaround for the planet ship bug not being able to launch ships:
Click you civilization manager button,
go to your colonies screen,
double-click on your colony in question to bring up your planetary screen,
click on your orbital construction button to bring up the shipyard,
highlight and launch your ships from the shipyard screen.

Scincerely,
Scintor
