Official 1.3 [final] bug report thread

Please post any bugs you are experiencing in the final release version of 1.3 here so we can have them all in one place.

Provide debug.err and/or SmartException reports as appropriate so the devs can quickly find and fix the problems.

If you have savegames, etc, to send, email them (zipped) to [email protected].

Note: 1.3A is on Stardock Central which addresses some issues. If you are having any problems, try that version please.

My game crashes in the menu when pressing New Game, Options. Pressing Tutorial and Load game seems ok, but after selecting a saved game it will still crash. Probably to do with my new Nvidia driver 91.47.

not really a bug. might want to post your debug.err since no one can help you with out that. post this info in a new thread.

Bug 1)
100% food production bonus compounding. If you have a farm on a 100% food bonus then upgrade the farm the bonus then becomes 200%. This can double all the way up to the 4th building. I had a planet with 56billion max pop with out a single farm. Cause even after you destroy the farm the bonus still stays.
Clicky

Bug 2)
Capitals that are conquered still have the 12 bt/wk but after a save load it changes to 5 bt/wk

My 1.3 game crashed when I set up a queue of 3 factories to build, and then changed my mind and deleted them all. It froze when I deleted the last factory and then CTD.

I saw the food bug.

I noticed that there are trapezoids (blue) in the minimap after a culturally flip planet switches to you.

There are still problems with planets displaying inaccurate pq/avaliable tiles.

(When I get home tonight I will see if I have a de-bug... I play on a PC, but post from my MAC laptop).

Oh yea, the Torians love to place influence bases by all capital planets.. is there a reason for that?

can you repreduce this? Might not be a bug but a glitch. Post debug in another thread for this.

Auto-select is gone. I know that lots of people hated it bit I find it annoying having to hit tab every time a ship has finished movement. I hope that it will be back as an option?

I've also noticed that planets with PQ<10 (both colonised and uncolonised) still sometimes change terrain after reloading the game for the first time. It's no fun having planets where over half of the tiles are in the ocean. I thought that this bug had been fixed in the beta?

Sentry doesn't do anything anymore or at least it isn't noticable with auto-select gone.

Minor races don't develop their planets anymore. I've invaded 3 minor races between the end of the 2nd year and beggining of the 4th year. The first two had only built five buildings and none of them were factories. The third that I invaded in Jan 4th year, was a little better. It still had only five buildings but three of them were at least factories.

I can still see the stats of an AI, turn 1 in Foreign Policy, even though I haven't met any AIs. It seems that you only removed the picture so that you can't see who it is.

Turn button doesn't turn green at end of turn.

Just checked my save game, I can confirm this. Unfortunately the amount of habitable planets is very low in my current game, I only hold 6 planets and only 1 is displayed incorrectly; the Arcean homeworld lists a PQ of 15 but only has 14 available tiles (and I am counting starport and colony tiles). I don't remember if I picked neutral before or after I took the planet so it's a bit hard to pin down. I'm going to continue the game and keep and eye on the planets I conquer--I'm also going to intentionally flip one to see the result.

I'll send the savegame as soon as I locate the right email to send it to.

Droid Sentries II and droid sentries III are exactly the same. There is no benefit to have III rather than II.

In the change log it mentioned that a factory will be built before a spaceport now by the Terrans (who have been colonizing more rapidly btw).

I have come across many fairly high PQ planets (various races) with farms, factories, research and entertainment either built or in the que, but not a starport yet. Maybe 1/3 to 1/2 the planets now seem to ignore the spaceports altogether.

Not sure if this one is a bug or not:

Current game: Humans, Drengin, Altarians and Torians left--I've conquered the Arceans some time ago. I launch an attack on the Altarians and wipe them out in the space of a few turns, using both transports in the process. A few turns later the Torians declare war on me saying that I have transports parked around their worlds. Now, I had Friendly relations with all the civs and didn't have a transport anywhere near Torian territory the entire time (the only reason they even saw them was because of an influence base they had dropped inside the Altarian home system).

I could understand them declaring war because it's pretty obvious by now I intend to wipe out everyone, but the relations didn't even deteriorate at all before the declaration of war. I had this happen in 1.3b3x too. Not sure if it's an over-aggressive detection or simply a mismatched reason (IE they're going to war because I'm obviously violent instead of the stated reason of transports around their worlds.)

I have already reported (by e-mail)a very similar problem when removing an item from the social production queue. I don't think it is just you!

there is an option to turn it on in the options menu.

As far as the green turn button goes, I don't know if it used to work for me and I just never noticed it or I've never had the green turn button.

I've seen a few bugs myself.

Bug 1:
-There is more food available than what is being produced by buildings.

Bug 2:
-The dregin civilization capital apparently moved to planet kona after I had captured their home world dregin.

Bug 3:
-Various civilizations have declared war on the fundamentalist despite the fact, they exist nowhere on the map.

I'll send an email with debug.err, a save of the map in question, and a screen shot to make sure you know what I'm talking about.

I got a word on the street in the planet details screen that reads as follows:

'[YourLeaderName] can take [YourLeaderGenderHisHer] tax rate and shove it!'

I'm just confirming the PQ bug is back, PQ bonus and tile availabilty don't match.

also, it's not selecting a new ship when one ships moves are over and there are ships with moves left, I have to manually tab to get to the next one.

not sure whats going on with that one and I don't think a debug err will help, and its happening with all games from the start.

that is not neccesarily a bug, where it chooses a new capital depends on a couple of factors, I'm not sure what they are, but if the Drengin only had a few planets left then it's possible that could happen like that. I've seen similar things happen. So it's kind of a little random because it usually jumps to the world furthest from the front lines, but if there are several fronts or there are only a few planets left, what happened to you is possible.

a further note to the PQ bug, it seems to only effect the homeworld....

Listed some of things I consider issues in GC2 gameplay into this thread:

https://forums.galciv2.com/?AID=129771#1004330

Hopefully devs can take a look and implement atleast some of the suggested changes in future.

I encountered a couple of weird things, hopefully it's not me doing something wrong.

When I select something to build on a planet it displays the build time as never unless I actually tell it to build.

Another problem I had that was similar, I had a planet revolt from another race to me but it wouldn't build anything, it just said time to build, never on everything, left it a few turns and still the same, when I bought a building, it then started building.

RepliJake,

if you have no factories, and you focus on Research or Military, you should get "never" when you build an improvement. and when you focus on Research and Production, you should get "never" when you build a ship.

also, when the spending line is on 0% everything should be "never". and when the military line is 100% the Research is on 50% and the Production is on 0% you will get "never" when you build an improvement, it's the same in the other 2, when it's 0% on research the research will be "never" and when the military line is on 0% all the ships that were on build, gets "never"

and when you have less then -2000 BC everything is on "never" cause you don't have any money to maintain what you have built or in progress...

for the influence:

if your race is powerful (with military might and cash might) some planets will join you, if they are weak and far from enemy influence. sometimes it's not important if you have an influence starbase or a planet with a lot of influence.
some planets may revolt and join you also if your ownership line is beyond them, then it means they are effected by your influence..

hope I helped..

I will send an e-mail with my debug.err, but I still can't see planet names during the colonization period. The background of the planet's information box is the same color as the text.

Can't confirm that. I found a PQ 26 planet early in my current game, colonized it. After some time (I had invented soil enhancement, habitat improvement and terraforming in the meantime) the planet had 28 usable tiles, but had a PQ of 41.

(Not that I wouldn't mind owning a PQ 41 planet )
