Official 1.3 [final] bug report thread

Please post any bugs you are experiencing in the final release version of 1.3 here so we can have them all in one place.

Provide debug.err and/or SmartException reports as appropriate so the devs can quickly find and fix the problems.

If you have savegames, etc, to send, email them (zipped) to [email protected].

Note: 1.3A is on Stardock Central which addresses some issues. If you are having any problems, try that version please.

Gameplay changes and nerfing are lame for 1.3 & 1.31 roll them back.


Examples of bad content in GC 2 updates r :-

Destroying diplomacy/trade between the player/AI.
Making resource mining bases weaker and weaker.
Making the entire morale buildings pointless.
Stopping creation of 100b pop. planets.
Making military starbases weaker.
Making Neutral Learning Centers weaker.


Oh and I got a lockup during a random invasion.

UP Typo. The one about trade. ...considering expanding the number of trade routes by 2. Then you get to vote for how many additional. Drop off the # in the issue and it will be fine.

There are serious issues with the summary screen after completion of the game. I destroyed well over 300 of the AIs ships and the summary says I destroyed only 1. I lost less than 10 but it says I lost 86. Average BC was just over 1K. I was pulling down 30-40K for the final 3 yrs of a 6yr game. Most time intensive tech was Invention Matrix. I did not even research it. I traded for it with the Terrans.

I have no doubt about the final score though. That is average with what I usually make on a game.

Playing version 1.31.

I've noticed this problem before, but some planet graphics (on the main galactic map) do not update until you save and reload, is it possible to refresh the planet graphics immediately?

I also get the Star graphics change the same way.
A couple of Typos could be redone as well, such as on the technology screen changing 'Technology already know...' to KNOWN
Also playing as Yor I researched a technological victory and the text said 'Mankind' in it and not the race I was playing!

v.1.31:
1. bug: i am playing a neutral custom race.i get + in relations for my alignment at the acreans and the terrans in my currrent game. but i get - relation at the drath "cause of my alignment", though the are reported to be neutral, too.I also think this happened with the draths in previous versions, too. And researching xeno ethics by anyone does not seems to change this.

2. bug: the lighting of the end turn button seems to be bugged now. often it lightens up when there are still ships with remaining moves or it does not do at all when it should.

Well for me the memory error has come back and the game keeps crashing. I'll post the mem error next time it happens. It’s not the same as before after the mem error I just go back into the game and I can continue on. This is the 1st time I have had a mem error since you fixed it in earlier version. I did not have this problem in v1.3 beta 2a.

There is also something weird with auto pilot I have star bases that gets set as well.

Confirm: Select an improvement and it says FOREVER (or NEVER or whatever. ;o) )to build time UNTIL you double-click it to add it to the que. This happens when it is the first item you are going to add to the que, otherwise it says how long to build it properly.

I recently finished a gigantic game, during which I wrote down all the bugs that I could find.
Here they are:


Planetary Defense Bug - The planetary defense bonus from one of the colonisation events doesn't show up under Planet Bonuses in Planet Details.

Research Complete Screen - There are lots of missing info on this screen: New Ship Components, New Starbase Modules, New Invasion Tactics.

Same thing when right-clicking on a technology in the Research- or Trade-screens. New Ship Components, New Starbase Modules and New Invasion Tactics aren't shown.

Minor Race AI - Andians declared war on me, saying that I had parked transports around their world. I hadn't even found their planet at the time. All I saw of them was 2 scouts and they had no way of seing any of my transports.

Turns left for production is still incorrect in the Colony Management. The correct one can be found in the Civilization Management.

There were two times (that I noticed) where I didn't get a GNN notification when a two AIs began fighting. First when Korx and Torian went to war with each other and the second time it was Drengin and Torian.

Andians and Snathi use logos from Galciv 1 which are of much lower quality compared to all other logos. They are racelogo21.png and racelogo22.png.

Ships can still have more then max hp after repairs. Noticable if a ship is being repaired on a planet.

On some planets, demolishing or replacing an Orbital Fleet Manager or a Starport makes it impossible to build again. I have no idea what causes this, on some planets it can be rebuilt, on some it can't. Very annoying.

When the map is maximally zoomed out, ships can wrongly get a attack-ship icon instead of a defense-ship icon upon exiting a planet. This happens when the ship has more defense then attack but the attack bonus on the planet makes the game think that it currently has more attack then defense. This means that it will get the wrong icon but once you begin to move it, it will change to a correct defense-ship icon.

Upgrading a ship in the fleet manager exits you from it. Annoying if you want to upgrade multiple ships.

Quarterly Report bug:


Drengin AI had the alignment event where it reads that they have become good. They didn't though, probably because they already had Xeno Ethics and their alignment was locked to being evil.

When reloading a game and looking at the timeline in the Civilization Manager, it will read "past 0 weeks" even though it is showing all weeks.

Improvement Summary bug. Morale and Influence bonus shows incorrectly after improvements have been built on their bonus-tiles:


AIs build very bad constructors late in the game. Drengin Constructor M5-9 has 5 ion drives. I know that he had Warpdrive Mk.III on his M5-5 warships. Arceans constructor M5-11 also had 5 ion drives.
Korx also built a sucky transport late in the game, their M6-3 had 4 ion drives. I know that he had Hyperwarp at that moment.

When a constructor fleet constructs a starbase, the fleet disbands on the starbase square instead of further upgrading it.
A constructor fleet also disbands as soon as they begin upgrading a starbase. For example, I have a fleet of 10 constructors and upgrade 3 modules on the starbase. Now I must reform the remaining 7 constructors into a fleet again.

When a planet has suffered damage during invasion, a popup appears after entering and exiting the planet saying the number of planetary improvements that has been destroyed. Wouldn't it make more sense if it pop-uped before entering the planet? I think so.
It would also be nice if it actually said what kind of buildings and how many of each type that had been destroyed.
When starting the invasion combat, a red X replaces the building or buildings that got destroyed from damage. It would be much better if the red X appeared on top of the building so that it was still possible to see which kind of building was destroyed.

Not necessarily a bug but when a race surrenders because of the player it isn't counted in the victory tab in the Civilization Manager even if the race surrenders to, or, because of the player. I was the cause of the destruction of all 9 major races and 4 minor ones but according to the CM, I had only destroyed 6 since I didn't do blixtkriegs on everyone and conquered all their last planets in one turn.

After the last AI was dead, I could still see him in Foreign Policy on that same turn.

In the End Game Summary - Most Powerful Ship includes both fleets and starbases. It would make more sense if it only included ships in it's calculations.


Typos:

All the 3 evil weapons-technologies has names that begin with Psionic. It also says psionic in the description. All 3 evil weapons have names that begin with Psyonic.

Technology Superior Hulls description "This gateway technology gives us the knowledge on how to be very very large hulls."
"be" should be "build".

About the only real bug I have been seeing is my economy is screwy. My tax income likes to change from 3500 to 4400 in one week with tax rate staying constant, and then jumps back and forth each turn, nothing to do with war or transports since all races are at peace. Pretty hard to keep playing when you constantly have to check if you are making cash or losing it.

AI upgrades my ships.

Apparantly if the AI gifts you with a ship and my guess is that they still have some of the same class ship. They will upgrade thiers and yours that are in the same class. Minor bug but could cause nightmares if it gets caught in an upgrade next to an enemy fleet.

Also planetary influence, it is so easy to overwhelm the A.I. in influence now. I'm not going for an influnce victory nor did I have intensive research in the tree but I have gotten mega influence in my past 2 games. Comparing my population to the overall galactic population I only have 25 percent but get over 50 percent of the votes in the UP. I know in most cases its not that important but does help in a few situations. I was only building one cultural exchange center on each class 10 planet or better and on bonus tiles. So at the least the A.I. should at least build them on thier respecive bonus tiles. And IMO the only bonus tile that can easily be ignored is the farm bonus as in most cases its more harmful than benificial.

I had just declared myself "Neutral" in the game by researching "Good and Evil" or whichever tech it is that lets you choose a final alignment.

After that, I can't remember specifically if the game crashed, or I closed it down and took a break.

However, when I came back to the game, I had "Good and Evil" researched, but I was no longer neutral, and I couldn't declare an alignment for the rest of the game.

Capitals that are conquered still have the 12 bt/wk but after a save load it changes to 5 bt/wk


I also have this problem. After a load, it's the other conquered planet from the same former owner that gets the 12 pop, making you lose all extra pop on the conquered capital. (ex; I conquered Mars and Earth from the Terrans. Many turns after, I loaded. Now Earth is 5 popmax and Mars is 12 popmax.)

BUGS:

- When you get an "X declares war on Y" alert icon, you can right click it to contact X, even if you've never met them before.

- "First turn economy freeze" still prevents building/researching.

- First planet improvements show incorrect build time.

Also, I've noticed a couple of times that if I get to choose my alignment, I can choose an expensive one, but the money isn't deducted from my economy. I don't test it much because I usually go for the 0bc one.

When I get the "relation up" message from someone when I'm on friendly, it doesn't show I'm at close. The relation actually goes down.
