Beta 1.2 bugs

Beta 1.2 bugs

First bug is that in the mod, the leader has been changed. This only works during race select, and then reverts to Alan Bradley's picture. Also, instead of the planet intended names for Earth, the Sun is now Earth, Earth is now Earth, and Earth 2 is mars, etc.

Other than that, the log rules, as does the new UI. EDIT: Ok, partly my stupidity here. I forgot to wipe customrace0 files, and it seemed to screw it up. You need to delete any terran race files or the mod won't work, and just calls everything "Earth"

I hate to say this, but the alteration to autofocus actually made the situation worse. The problem wasn't fixed, only one of the side effects. The camera jerking back and forth across the map - which is what was fixed - wasn't the problem. That was only the more annoying side effect of the problem.

The problem is that is still selects ships without being told to do that. And now that it doesn't center the view onto whatever ship it selected, it's even harder to realize that you aren't looking at the ship that has focus. This makes the other side effect - giving orders to the wrong ship - much worse. I have ships flying all over the map and it takes several turns to realize a ship is going the wrong way.

Please, the problem wasn't the view jerking around. The problem was with ships being selected without being told.

I started a new metaverse game and I noticed that my neighbor's race is 'custom race'!

I've been getting this too. It did get me thinking though, that a cool addition in the future would be an option for the computer to cobble together unique races, from a stock of portraits, ai routines etc.

While trading for money, at times the ammount dialog appears showing only "1' or "10" instead of "100". PRessing the up/down buttons, do adjust from 100 , and the AIs yes/no descision is based on 100 as well.

I find that the death of auto focus (you can still enable it in the options) solved the problem for me.

I just remember to click on the next ship I want to select or I hit FIND or the Tab Key to select the next ship and hit C to center on it.

I find when I center on it, I am ready for it and it doesn't' jerk me around.

I hit C and zoom in to the auto selected ship. Or I click on the ship to select one I want to move.

Pretty much solves teh problem for me.

Carielf said she was aware of the auto select issue, but that was more complicated to do, and might be an option in the future. But she was able to fix the auto-focus camera centering on the map becasue it was an easier coding issue.

here's a modding bug/feature :
if a tech cost is set to 0, the tech is researched from the start as intended, but all ability points modifiers won't be applied

IF your manufacturing budget goes to zero because you're too deeply in debt, the manufacturing timeline shows all players as being zeroed out that turn.

Would a dev please sticky this thread as we are trying to keep all bug reports for the betas in this thread so it is easier for you to keep a track of them.

Last night I downloaded and installed the 1.20.009 update for Gal Civ II, since then I can not start a new game OR a saved game … here is a copy of the Debug.err. I know that my sound driver isn’t the latest but the debug output doesn’t seem to be related and everything was working fine before I patched.

Any ideas ?

I just have been offered Balanced Vision in exchange for Subspace Rebounder by the Custom Race!

What?

So we ended up trading nothing for nothing.

Hope it still adds up to them being friendly towards me though.

Where to start,

New combat works well both ways in that my ships around or in orbit around planets are definitely tougher. So are theirs, however I still achieved a 8 to 1 kill ratio despite the flaw in the new combat. In that it seems that at a majority of the times when I can not finish off a fleet I am attacking in the first round not all of my ships can fire in the second round or subsequent rounds. However, I have noted that I get to fire exactly the same amount of ships that the enemy fleet has left (which is to say the other 3 or 4 ships in my fleet just sit there and take it up the ole stove pipe if they are getting fired at.)

I noted alot of problems with logistics and minaturization (L&M), in that at no time on any world I was taking over did I see any hyperion logistics or shrinker, frequently on the alien worlds I did not see to many good solid planet building skills either. I won't bother everyone with pictures. Suffice to say I was playing on tough (two steps above normal) so the AI should have been doing a bit better there. Back to L&M, noted that toward the end of the game when I was attacking the Yor, Arcean, Korx and Terrans (the only races left) it seemed that they had Logistics that rivaled mine but didn't have the stuff built on any of their worlds to support it.

Anywho, I will continue to play the beta as it was stable in that it only failed two or three times to desktop, and I was unable to create the problem again after loading a saved game.

Overall I have to say the combat system is not as bad as I thought it would be.

I second the autofocus disappointment. Now we get the game automatically selecting random ships *that aren't even on the screen* for *no reason*. I want to make this clear - the game should NEVER select ANYTHING. Autofocus was irritating because you'd give an order, but the damn game would have randomly selected another ship and *that* ship would get the order, waste it's turn, etc. There is no reason for the game to change what ship is selected. There's a whole TAB button just for that.

Everything else is neat though.

I just posted my first 1.2 beta-1 score to the metaverse after a nice, alliance-victory game on a painful, huge universe. The new combat system seems much more reasonable than the original, and I like nearly all of the changes that have been made.

My bug: the metaverse has detected cheat codes on the game I just uploaded. Link I've never used cheat codes - in fact, I don't even know how to use them in this game. I have not played around with any mods or altered any .xml files, either, so that's not a contributing factor. Bottom line: I didn't cheat, and my metaverse score says I did.

n the 1.2 beta, when designing ships, selecting "Upgrade" now deletes all the "Jewelry" parts as well as the functional parts of the design. In effect, Upgrading is the same as starting New. This is VERY anoying.. so anoying that I have stopped playing the game until this is fixed. I spend a LONG time building up cool looking ship designs and I want to reuse them.. this bug prevents that.

I did not experience this problem at all during my 1.2 beta-1 game, and I upgraded my ships throughout the game. Perhaps the check box in the options screen inadvertently became unchecked?

BUG:

click a warship onto sentry mode
Warhip automaticly goes to attack an ally
Screen pops up saying you have to break alliance first
The only thing you can do is hit done
warship instantly goes to attack ally again
screen pops up again

its a neverending loop

this isn't exactly a bug, more of a question, for the ADMINS and DEVS really. Prior to 1.2B i had taken the disruptors3 model, and renamed it S0_DoomRay.X (along with replacing the approptiate icons) so that the doom ray would have a model more to my liking (instead of the plasma2 model).

However, now in 1.2b i find that replacing those models/icons no longer work. So i take it instead of having the weapon point to those models and icons (S0_DoomRay.X, etc...) they now point directly to the plasma2 models...?

MY QUESTION IS: Where in the game files are weapon models associated with a certain weapon??? I can't seem to find that anywhere...

There's a lot to read here, forgive me if I missed it already but I tried searching.

Playing 1.2, beta 1 and random races, I just met Custom Race.

Another bug, I'm not finding it posted yet.

I'm using Logitech wireless keyboard and moues combo, I need to use 'hardware mouse' option. Frequently while playing the mouse will stop responding. Well, actually not quite, instead the *cursor* will lock in place but it's clear that the game is still reading what the mouse is doing.

If I move the mouse around various items will highlight meaning that it's recognizing the mouse is moving over it, but the pointer stays locked where it was. After 5-10 seconds the mouse control is restored and I can continue to play.

I would very much like to see the build times bug fixed before 1.2 is finalised... where for example, you have an empty build queue and you go to build a factory and it says something like "50 weeks". Then you click on, say, Social and it goes to 4. Then you unselect Social and it goes to 8.

Delayed stat updates are a real pain... have to find time to more fully explore. Haven't finished a 1.2 beta game yet.

See images for full details!

War and Peace alerts seem to be mildly incorrect! As per the image you will see that the Drengin have made peace with the Terrans, however the Terrans are not in the current game!

I wonder about the Tech Tree... 1.11 seemed to have extra techs (mainly along the weapons trees), but 1.2 seems to now be merged in strange ways? Is anyone else a little suspicious of the tech tree?

1.2beta Manufacturing / Research bug:

There is a discrepancy b/w the Manufacturing and Research numbers in 1) the Civilization Manager and 2) the Planet Summary screen. The Planet Summary says (correctly) that I have 56 mp, but the Civilization Manager says that I have only 32 mp and uses this lower value instead. Thus, my Colony Ship will take 3 instead of 2 weeks to build.

This is a fairly important bug in the early game, when we really need to pump out those colony ships fast.
On the colonies screen the hover over the population has it as income.
