Playing 1.1 beta 2A, with all AI on intelligent

I was at peace with the Altarians when I saw a transport near one of mine undefended planet with a nearby altarian fighter. I did move some ships to defend the planet. They have arrived too late to prevent the planet to fall into altarian hand. The Altarians invaded my planet without declaring war first. The glitch appears when I wanted to attack the altarian ship: I was still considered at peace with the Altarian, even if they have invaded a planet that belongs to me the previous turn.

To summarize:
- I was at peace with the altarian
- they invade a planet of mine without declaring war. nice to see the AI doing sneaky things
- I am still considered at PEACE with them !!!!!!!!!

The Invasion bug with defender ships in orbit is still in this version. I reported this bug in 1.0X, and hadn't seen it again until last night. Here is what happened:

I went to attack an AI world with a fleet that included a transport. Instead of fighting the defending ships in orbit, the screen went directly to a traditional invasion screen, completely bypassing their defense.

(This seems to happen only when attacking a race that you are not at war with.)

I know I'm supposed to post a debug report and everything, but I didn't even realize this was likely a bug until a few minutes ago. I was playing a game under "challenging." seven opponents on normal, in a large galaxy with a custom race. I restarted the game several times looking for one where I wasn't completely boxed into a corner by other empires. I finally got a playable one, and after playing for nearly an hour realized that noone else had colonized outside of their own systems. I stopped the game and began another (didn't use ctrl+n this time). I figure, now, that this is likely an AI glitch, as the opponents usually colonize pretty fast on that difficulty level (or at least try to). thanks.

My Custom Constructors all have a limit of 3 su for speed even if they have engines with 9, 11 or 8 total speed. After launching the Custom Constructors I am allowed all 9, 11 or 8 speed for the first turn. After the first movements are spent, it will revert back to only 3 speed. It also displays it wrong when you look you can see 11/3 su upon launching it. I tried this with multiple Custom Constructors, some upgraded and one fresh from scratch. They all have the same problem.

Have you by any chance had the UP wote on a speed boost for constructors? I had that happen, voted to give constructors a minimum base speed of 7, so now they all have a base speed of 7, regardless of engine capacity.

Aperently the disapearing mouse cursor so many of us expirience is NVIDIA driver bug !!!!

The bug introduce itself in ALL 8x.xx version drivers .

So far 2 temporal solutions exists :

1. Install v7x.xx drivers.

or

2. Right click on desktop, go to "Properties" , "Settings" tab , hit "Advenced" button, "Troublesot" tab there , then change the
"Hardware acceleration" slider from "Full" one step down.
This will prevent problem from happening but will reduce you Windows and most importent gaming performance.
(As a side not if you manage somehow to reach there using keyboard it will restore the cursor even after it disappeared).

everytime I start a new game after i create a custom civ the game crashes to a blue screen that sez dumping physical memory. and this happens EVERYTIME!!!!!!!!

On Intelligence AI the limiter on tech trade is not there any more. Everything is trade like hotcake regardless of relationship and what are being traded. (I haven't test with other difficulties yet).


I trade Basic Miniturization for Harboon, and it's not even one of the AI's initiate deal, I offered the deal and they simply take it. In 1.0X I remember can not convince the AI to give me basis ship defense even with plenty offer on my part.

Ok, after extensive text on the AIs, I have the following result regarding the tech trading.



I can now firmly confirm that the trade limiter that was in 1.0X is no longer there, neither there is any type of restriction in existence..


I started up new games, on both Normal and Painful difficulties, there is no difference. After letting the AI research their stuff, here is my test result along with Comparision:


1.0X

- I offered Laser IV for Starship defense - the AIs say they don't trust me yet.
- I offerd Advance Minizuration, Xeno Business, Xeno Farming, Xeno Entertainment for Durathium - the AIs say they don't trust me yet.
- I offered Advance Logistic, Advance Hull building, Expert life support for Miniball II - The AIs say they don't trust me yet.


1.1B2

- I traded in Universal translator for Starship defense and Spaceship defense - Accept
- I traded in Ion Drive and Basic life support for Miniball, Xeno Business, Xeno Industry, Armor theory.
- I traded in Laser V for Stinger IV, ECM, Xeno Entertainment, Enchanted Miniruzation


My influence level is relative minimum, I traded with different Race vary from Major to minor, from Good to Evil, from PowerFul to Weak. No difference. What is disturbing is that the Difficult levels make no different. In 1.0X when it comes to weapon tech, it's as simple as if we're not friend then no deal


So my conclusion is, the Limiter is not there any more. There is absolutely no involment whether it's low or high tech or whatever it Miniruzation or planet tech. The term "I don't trust you" is no longer there, period. Thing is exactly the way it was before 1.0X where tech trade is a free zone without any restriction.

I was having trouble continuing a save game. At a certain point, when I would press Next Turn, the game would stop responding (except for the mouse), and after 2 minutes or so, get a crash message and exit.

I finally managed to bypass at as following:
I destroyed all my ships in space. I set spending to 0. As it happened, on the very turn where normally my game crashed, a session for the UP appeared, after which the game continues as normal.
The debug.err log is inconclusive, every time some other event is listed at the bottom, usually some AI trading or bribing.

This 1.1 is really awesome, the improvements are simply mind boggling. However, a lot of work needs to be put in hammering out these annoying crashes, I've encountered several different types already.

The "United Planet" tab under the Foreign Policy screen will show all races and their votes - even after they have been conquered/eliminated - in the beta 2 version.

This is with patch Ver2 Beta
When I researched Star Democracy and made it my government type my approval rate went to 1% on all planets. The problem is the when you look at how the results are made there was a weird number % Native Population showed something like
+-2089479038490234908% .
How do you change Government back?

I'm playing the 1.1 Beta (not beta-2)

I gave a ship that still had movement points (in fact had not been moved at all) to a minor race. Later in my turn the game attempted to select the ship for me, but I no longer owned it. This resulted in some bizzare select/unselect loop, which I could only break by selecting something else of mine or ending my turn. You cannot scroll away because everytime the ship re-selects you are focused to that spot.

This happened twice.

It did not happen when giving away a ship that has been moved as far as possible.

The Minor Races aren't showing up inside different games when the No Minor Races Box is not selected. I'm using Beta 2a.

Ok Now I have a great Idea..........................I turn auto save off................I figure I will just quick save at end of every turn.

This worked for about 5 turns when I moved all my ships and was finshed my turn. (nothing more to do)

Don't know if this has been listed, I read the first two pages and the last, and just lost the motivation to read them all. If so, I apologize.

Mining Starbase trading - When I purchase Mining Starbases that I have not yet detected, sometimes it shows no resource within the Starbase ring. If I click on the Starbase, or attempt to upgrade it, I still cannot determine what the mystery resource inside is. Also, once this bug occurs, it tends to reoccur, one game I purchased a Mining Starbase with no resource inside, and then the next four starbases I purchased all had this bug.

I do not know if the Starbases are still giving me their respective resource. Honestly, they are generally so far away that they are very difficult to upgrade in the first place until extremely high tech levels where I either have won or lost the game. I have however attempted to upgrade one, and it responded normally except that the Mining (whatever) - 10, was replaced with a simple Mining - 10.

I never encountered this bug prior to the beta, whereas I encounter it at some point in every game that I win, as I am obsessed with purchasing Mining Starbases.

Darth Evanesce, you need to update your video driver. I also got many save game crashes when I first started playing the game, but updating the video driver seemed to fix it (For some reason). I don't know why the video driver is important to the save game feature, but it seemed to work for me. (Your driver is even older than mine was, and we both had ATI cards.) Go to www.ATI.com and download their newest RADEON driver.

Looks like you've tweaked the political party benefits, but the description didn't change. The Populist Party now gets +10 morale and +10 diplomacy, but the prose description still says they get 20 of each. Same for the War party. Looks like they got a needed boost with some additional abilities but the description still has the old ones.

Beta 3 Ship building.

Tested with 3 different races, the Terran, Aterian and Custome:

If you select "Build Nothing" from the ship building menu on a planet, you will be building the Ranger in its full glory right out of the batch. Nice!!

AI Still gives you starbases instead of ships:

It's like this since beta 1, when an AI says he's sending you ships to aid your war effort, he's giving you starbases. I've never received an actual ship but starbases, sometimes fully upgraded resource bases!

In one game the Korx gave me three fully upgraded influence mining bases in its empire, in the months that followed four of his planets rebelled to join me

All AI's still building the same ships, but with one more weapon type:

In Beta 2, all three games I played, every AI researched nothing but missiles.

In my first game in beta 3, all races encountered, that's five of them, are using ships with both beam and mass drivers. I have not researched any defense systems, or is at war with any of them.
