Collector's Edition

Collector's Edition

I know I read it but cannot find it now; what is the difference between the Collector's Edition and the normal game?

Thanks!

Sveltine,  looking at your account you do not have any registration for GalCiv II.  I suspect that your serial number is assigned to a different account.  Please make sure you use the same account that your serial number is registered too.  Read answer below as this may apply to you as well.

Please email [email protected].  Let them know what email address/nickname you logon to the site with and let them know what email address and serial number your registration belongs to.  Then should be able to merge the two accounts together.

Darkrenown Wrote: I've now had 4 different SNs and none will let me download the collectors goodies. Same errors as Ubbax. Any suggestions?
Edit: Perhaps I've made it worse in trying to make a 2nd account: Darkrenown2. No validation email has been sent but this is the account that shows up when my SN is emailed to me.

Same issue.  I do not see a GalCiv II Registration under this account.  When you created your Stardock.net account you most likely used a different email address.  By doing this you have two accounts in our system.  So when you enter in your serial number it cant validate it because it belongs to a different account.  Email [email protected] with your relevent information for both your accounts and they should be able to merge them together.

Lordtheron wrote: I cannot get to the CE stuff either. I'm very positive my account is the right one as I only have one account. Still when I try to register it tells me that the serial number doesn't belong to this account.

Again, I do not see any product registration under this account.

Let me rephrase things a bit , for everyone, as I don't think I'm being clear enough.  Lets say you purchased using the email address of [email protected].  Your game will be registered under that account.  When you created your Stardock.net account, you should have used the same account.  But lets say you used the email address of [email protected].  So now you are logged on with the GMail account and go to the registration page to get the CE downloads.  When you enter your serial number and it tries to validate it it will fail because that serial number belongs to a different account (email address).

To fix this problem, email [email protected], and let them know you need your accounts merged together. (Tell them T-Man sent you).  Send them the email address and nickname of your Stardock.net account and the Email address and serial number of your Order/Registration.
If you have your Store Order Number you might want to include that as well just for extra information in case they need it.

For anyone reading this that has not created a Stardock.net account yet....Please use the same Email Address that used in the Stardock Store. This will make everything work properly.

Thanks T-Man!

I sent in a message to support last night, so I am anxiously awaiting their reply! It is so nice to see responsive Devs and Mods that take an active interest in their customers.

Keep up the great work!

Uh, just an idea : for those using SD/TG preorder/downlaod, would it be possible to just have the CE stuff listed in SD Central list of games/addons ?
It'll go a long way toward solving the "do I have the CE stuff installed" frequent issue...

Why didn't I do this on Wednesday

Oh well, no bling for my ships for a bit longer

Yes, the Bonuspack and the GCII Desktop (both are part of the CE) are separate downloads. Visit https://www.galciv2.com/collectorsedition/ Link to download.

I have preordered the download version, and when I go to that link I see that I can download the bonus pack and something that will "enable" the CE content, but where do I download the content itself? Or does it mean that I already have it, just disabled? However I do not see anything like CE content in my StarDock central. Can anyone help to explain what is going on? Should I somehow download the content first, and then this "enabler"?

v1.0D (and later) in SDC will give you the Bonus Pack content. The special Collector's Edition goodies (i.e., desktop theme, etc.) can be downloaded here:

I was having trouble with the Collector's Ed download as well, with the 'serial number not linked to this account' errors. But I've also been noticing some flakiness navigating the forums with Firefox - I don't seem to stay logged in (at least the 'Welcome (Username)' message disappears and my posting priviledges seem to go away at random).

So first - make sure you're logged in!
Second - try the whole procedure again using IE rather than Firefox or whatever browser you're using.

This worked for me, dunno about anyone else

When I request my serials I get an email but the serial for my WindowBlinds and GalCiv2 are identical. Entering the GalCiv code in the link above gets me this serial is not associated with this account. And yes my email addee is the same as the one I purchased with.

Can you please forward that email to [email protected] so that I can look at it.

Just wanted to share my experience with registering my serial numbers.

Those are some extremely long numbers to type in which makes it easy to make a mistake. It took me a couple trys to get it right but it finally took my serials. It appears that I typed some number ones for the letter I for a couple of characters. And I missed a letter or two. So once I finally typed it in correctly it worked just fine.

Hey, question (and I apologize if this was covered elsewhere), but I pre-ordered the game at EB, and yet they seemed to have received the normal version rather than the collector's one. I'll still be able to get the collector's edition stuff with my serial number and what not? Thanks in advance.

Veloxi,  yes, you will be able to get the collectors edition downloadables with the serial number.  All current printed copies of the game will have access to the download files at https://www.galciv2.com/collectorsedition/ .

I'm worried - I've been waiting for Gamestop to get my preorder since Tuesday (as of this evening, they still didn't have it) - and with my luck they'll end up getting the regular version. Well, I'm a freak when it comes to actually having the CE box. So, if I get screwed on this, will there be there any other way to get my hands on the CE?

So, do I understand correctly, that the difference between 1.0D and CE is just those desktop themes, etc, but in-game content is the same?

The Collectors Edition download also unlocks some extra ship parts (cosmetic only, nothing that modifies ship stats).

Ok..let me get this straight........to enable the CE i need another serial number emailed to me to put into the CE serial space on the downloads page?

good stuff though .. I am especially fond of the little round connecter thingies. They give you alot of freedom for putting things on ships at different angles.

Not if you purchased the electronic download via Stardock. In that case you can enter your serial number in the "Serial Number" space (and still get the download). In my case I didn't even need to do that as my forum account was somehow already linked to my serial (maybe because I had created a metaverse character already?) and I was able to download right away by clicking on the links.

Well I am officially confused. I've read as many threads as I could find on the issue and still confused. I did not purchase via electronic download. I did preoorder. I did not receive the collectors edition box. I have downloaded the "Install Galactic Civilizations II Desktop Enable Collectors Edition" item from https://www.galciv2.com/CollectorsEdition/ .

How can I tell that the collectors edition content is installed and working properly? I do not see the collectors edition content available from stardock central. I did request them for a list of my serial numbers and only received one for gal civ 2 not for any CE content.

Yes, this way you get the "enabler" but how to get the content itself? Is content included into patch for everyone and you just need to enable it? Or is content has to be downloaded separately? I do not see anything called "Special Edition" in my game, so I do not know if I have it or not...

Very nice... I just got the CE in the mail, and I must say, it's a very nice package!

Thumbs up to Stardock again!
