Collector's Edition

Collector's Edition

I know I read it but cannot find it now; what is the difference between the Collector's Edition and the normal game?

Thanks!

This may help some somebody:

I bought GalCiv2 from stardock. I created an account at Total Gaming with my email address and the username Leo Powers to make the purchase.

I changed my Stardock.net email to my current one (I'd moved since I used it last and OD expired) I dowloaded the client linked in the email, and installed it.

I loged in to Stardock Central with my existing account with my current email and my old user name Capt_Tripps.

I download and register GalCiv2 through Stardock Central. I am able to download updates, but if I try to get to the Downloads section of galciv.com, it won't accept my serial number.

I hope this was not answered before (did not read all 3 pages) but is it possible to see all new items from Collectors Edition anywhere?

All you get with the CE now in the US is the tech tree poster, which you can download and print if you like from these pages:

Everything else (GalCiv desktop theme, Special ship design parts, etc), is now available to everyone.

I purchased the CE at Walmart and all serials and stuff were fine, but there was no Tech Tree fold-out in the box. Was this discontinued?

I am new here and just purchased the game from
> https://www.galciv2.com/Purchase.aspx <

So my question is this -
is this the CE version at both total gaming and from GalCiv2 - since the image at galciv2.com shows the collectors edition and the image at totalgaming shows the regular box for dreadlords?

I have also found the links to download all the CE edition items, do I need to install the windows desktop to use them since I like the one I have now?

Thank you & good hunting.

If you bought the download-only version, you get all the CE goodies except the tech tree. If you want a CE box, with the tech tree, you can contact [email protected] and get one for only the cost of shipping. You may want to hurry though, as we're running out of CE boxes (after which point only the regular version will be available, though it'll be replaced by the gold version with DA included come February).

All you need is the small CE content enabler, which adds extra pieces in the ship builder in-game. The desktop download has that, as well as a WindowBlinds+IconPackager theme (and basic versions of each software's functionality if you don't already have Object Desktop).

A word of warning, do not get the Bonus Pack from the CE page, as it's really just the first patch and all the extra stuff in it is already in all later patches. If you install that after you've already gotten a newer version, it'll break things and you'll need to reinstall.

Will the gold version with DA included cost the same $39.95 you are now charging for the CE? Will the gold version include the tech tree? Is there any way to pre-order the gold edition and get a serial to download the current version of the game before February?

When I bought my copy at wall*mart, it was a normal box (non CE), but had a CE serial in it.
