Politics, thats all trade is good for (atleast in GalCiv2). Yes but you might as well maximse the amount of creds you can get by selecting the right routes if you can. My purpose of this thread was to find out how to do this.

Rebalance the alignments after researching xeno ethics!!! Currently Good is beyond terrible. Neutral is hugely powerful morale bonus, trade routes learning centres and best of all free tiles on terraforming tech. Evil weapons are not cost effective so pointless building the only really good thing going for evil is the 100% eco building which is prob minor bug. I would like a genuine choice that changes each game I'm fed up feeling forced into the same strategy caused by neutral being so stro
what makes you think the AI CANT colonize PQ1 planets? I've never noticed one way or the other, but even if you've never seen it happen, it doesnt mean it's impossible. Is there a rule you're aware of that states this to a certainty? I've played about 20 DA games never seen them do it and would be willing to bet a few quid that they can't. Stardock people are probabably the only ones who truly now though but i'm 99% sure they can't.
Traditionally my freighter strategy has been to use a high PQ world in a corner of the map make it my capital for extra population purposes and build lots of eco improvements there and eventually have all my trade routes coming from that planet going to other civs high revenue planets. After reading Iztok Bitencs findings in his linked thread I guess this is the wrong strategy for maximsing trade money. It seems pretty much the longest route is the way to go (population has a small eff
This has been bugging me for a while and I don't really have the time to test it myself so here gos... Does sending a freighter along the longest possible route always maximise the most money return without using eco starbase trade modules? Or does the economic output and popultion of the planet sending the freighter and the planet recieving a freighter have an affect? Game example: I have 2 planets and I want to send a freighter to the Altarians lone planet. Plane
1.5x quick guide races at maso imo 1: Thalan - overpowered imo 2: Yor - quality abilities and strong special 3: Tougher decision perhaps Korath or Krynn Most of the other races if not all need to be improved imo Ability picks tend to be eco, morale, sensors and weapons. Government Federal/techno/industrialist depending on race pick.
Why the Torian Orbital fleet manager change? The perfect solution would be for the AI to rush build them on planets in immediate danger then build over them when the planet is safe again. 450 creds to rush prob isn't much during the warring stages on most maps. Frankly though if your on the defensive in this game your probabably in big trouble there not really very useful.
Wow, thats a very impressive change list that should improve DA massively. Although many changes are minor tweaks they collectively should have a big effect on how enjoyable and challenging DA is. Still lots more to do though i'd like to see alignments and races more balanced to give a genuine decision to a more knowledgable players as to the best choice. For me an a Thalan neutral choice is currently the uber choice on most map settings. Probably the obvious choice for high scoring
Magpie6 I have to agree with the two popular votes in here... you are weird. He made me smile so I like like him... think the men in white coats might need to be called though.
After my first experience dealing with 20 fleets of useless corvettes I decided to give the Drengin the "Super-Warrior" ability instead The super abilitys are hard coded to the races aren't they?
The Drengin have always had the best AI. Currently the only real reason to go Drengin is so you dont have them as an opponent (assuming random opp). They're terrified of the Drengin because of the perceived power of their fleet. The affect the corvettes have to the strength of there fleets is negligible.
I had one cruiser ambushed by the Drengin Horde go from nothing to level 15 with minor damage. I think that sums up how pathetic this supposed super abilty currently is. So much for the mighty drengin...
yep pretty much.
Seen as your title fits what I was thinking about nicely... There should be a metaverse option to look for purely DA games people have played currently you have to view DL as well. oh yeah catchy, click on metaverse top left 7 down hawk.
A bonus sensor of +3 would be about right.
Hi magpie6 your post is kind of weird did you ask your wife for a porn subscription on valentines and she bought you Gal Civ 2 instead? Its gotta be something along those lines...
Just tested out your claim dystopic. Sadly your completely and utterly wrong perhaps you chose neutral alinment... or just imagined it whatever the case you are mistaken. The bug is alive and well no matter how many times you exit and reload. So... back to waiting for patch
when you save and reload, the planets' PQ updates along with pop caps and morale. Pretty sure it doesn't but will look again later. If you go neutral then your not affected by it but the non neutral AI's are so it's a huge unfair advantage over them.
Cari is looking into it Great. Now a mini-update patch would be nice. I have no idea how long the main patch is going to take probably quite a while if a lot of the recent suggestions in the forum are acted upon. I really would like to be playing DA but don't beleive my time would be well spent if I play with this bug hanging round... can't wait till it's fixe
BTW: What are those covettes outfitted with? A water pistol. Actually they might as well be as Kryo said they are cannon fodder. (Att 2 each I think). Is there anyone who thinks that Sardock should leave this Super ability as it is even though it's awful?
I think Stardock's aware. I'm sending it to them manually just in case. Thanks for doing that jpinard probably should have done that myself. They still should reply to this thread though... There are about three different bugs mentioned in this thread. C'mon Stardock what happened to the good customer support?
C'mon Stardock this thread deserves a reply...
errrr wow those numbers are really low. I did say at least... The AI in my games has a tendency to build zero factories on a planet or nothing but factories on a planet. It's very debatable how many factories should be built. Using a split production method like the AI uses more factories are probably needed. Using a 100% focus method less factories are probably needed. But the fact is every planet needs a certain amount of factories built.<b
The AI should be scripted to build at least a certain amount of facories on a planet whatever the circumstance. eg below13PQ=2 Factories 13-15PQ=3 Factories 16-19PQ=4 Factories 20+PQ=5 Factories A certain amount of factories is never a bad thing regardless of what the planet is specialising in (The planets still need to build ships and the infrastructure in the first placed). On the whole livonya I agree with most of your points although I guess yo
Super Dominator Corvettes are intended to be cannon fodder. Whats the point of playing the Drengin or custom race super domiator when there ability is so useless?
