If it comes down to a choice between an AI which stands a chance of winning versus a good human player or a story generator of how the the player kicks AI ass every time, the AI improvements are the obvious priority. Although Gal Civ 2 is the best game of its type I have played I feel the AI still has a long way to go. Perhaps the story generator could be added in a future patch or multiplayer expansion that was talked about. Lenius.

Just wondering Brad/Draginol how much of an affect will the agent/spys have. Will they just provide an annoyance to enemy empires (eg production problems) or will they literally be able to cripple an enemy empire (eg rebellions and such like). Lenius.
Not really. But the real solution is in Dark Avatar. There's still a hit to colony rushing but just not as much. From what i've heard about DA the colony rush will still be there just a little different. ie normal colony rush probabably followed by a tech rush for the new colony techs. Imo the real problem about the colony rush is the
Sadly i'd put a few quid on the AI doing something stupid that it shouldn't be doing personally... Lenius.
I've thought about having this option as well. Could be something stardock could think about putting in DA. Lenius.
The metaverse is heavily weighted toward conquest so I might go down that route in future. Lenius.
Perhaps the amount of ships 1 ship can fire upon and potentially destroy could be based on the individual ship logistics. eg: Capitol ship with 10 logistics could fire at 5 seperate ships per turn. 8 logistics=4 6 logistics=3 4 logistics=2 2 logistics=1 Of course it could only target a new ship once the original target had been destroyed. Lenius.
I go for the Victory type that i believe will take the shortest time. In pre 1.31 version this tended to be alliance for me in my latest game culture looks like it will be the quickest method so i'm going for that. I Like to win as quick as possible. Lenius.
Theres not a huge gap imo between any of the races but the Korx wouldn't be high on the list for my choice of fav race abilities wise. Old Charlie Korx is quite cool in other ways though. The Drath have a great number of quality inbuilt abilties I think they are the best race after you customise them. Lenius.
It does make writing the AI much harder (I'm going to basically toss out the planet improvement code in GalCiv II which I didn't write in the first place and that person isn't with Stardock anymore so we've been patching the planet improvement AI choosing code since release, better to scrap it and write it new with the new strategies in mind). Lo
Korx have some of the worst abilities the only thing going for them is there second planet, i believe its class 8. I always play custom race but if i had to choose one of the 10 it wouldn't be them. Neutral is the best alignment unless you want an alliance win imo Lenius.
Reply#22 I'm sure you do always have a powefull economy. It just takes you a couple years longer than it should because of your low taxes. Look Marcathonas it seems i'm oviously wasting my time trying to give you good advice. Frankly I have better things to do that read your replies although they are amusing, so this is my last post. Theres a lot of good advice in this thread for those that are open minded and willing to try new things. Good luck fending off the AI invasi
There is no way early on in a game Marcathonas thay you can achieve high morale and high taxes. It's simply impossible. That means you have to make a choice. 1. Your version: High morale bigger pop high approval rating. Fact is you don't even have elections until you reach republic. Your economy is small because you have low taxes. Therefore spending is low no where near hundred percent. Means you can not build manufactoring buildings or shi
At Republic level you can easily go as low as 48% approval and not risk losing an election. The more advanced goverments i'm not sure but by the time you get that far most people would have a morale resource so approval rating shouldn't be an issue at 41% planet morale. People on here are making way to much a deal about approval rating it really is something that can be forgotten about imo. Winning by 1 vote is effectively the same as by 50 votes. Lenius.
Did you even read my thread Marcathonas or just the bit were i questioned your advice. Lenius: Wrong. Approval is very, very important. If it's at 31%, you WILL NOT have the population to fight a war or get income. Because it's not growing. If you read my post properly I stated that I only have planets below 41% morale when they have rea
Fact is your not going to be able to keep your all your planets at 100 morale for long. The only time I would keep taxes low is if I were running low on homeworld pop on a colony rush, pointless otherwise your just slowing your economy. Better to use my strat and get a pop growth abily bonus. You only need to reach 2.6 bill on a planet to reach its max amount of pop growth each turn. If your planets are being invaded your doing something seriously wrong already so high pop wo
Think your advice is pretty dodgy tbh Marcathonas. Approval rating doesn't really mean squat. To maximise your economy increase your taxes until the lowest morale on any planet should be 41% (42 if you have too). At 40% your colonies stop growing. If your lowest morale planet hits its pop cap (farm or artificial) you can increase taxes so its morale go's as low as 31%. At 30% the colony will rebel so don't go that low!! By following this advice all your colonys wi
Has anyone achieved alliance status after they have conquered a couple of races on crippling level or higher. Most i can get to is friendly on 1.31 after doing this. I prefer it being a lot harder to get alliances so i'm not complaining by the way. Lenius.
This topic has already appeared on the forum. A Stardock employee (can't remember who it was) said they werent currently thinking about changing the undestructable specials. I asked if thet would reconsider, don't know if they replied cos its pretty hard to find posts you've made on other peoples threads in this forum. Anyway the more people asking for it to be changed the better. Lenius.
Sounds very overpowered...
Incidentally, we are also going to release a Galactic Civilizations II v1.4 shortly. Glad to here it. The latest version (1.31) is lightyears better than the out the box version but there are still bugs and other things that need to be fixed. For one the PQ level of a planet still doesn't always match the number of tiles. I used the te
There's no plan to change that, but if you want to do so yourself you can. Just go into the improvements XML file and remove all the 'indestructible' tags (this only applies to non-metaverse games, since you would be modding it). Please can Stardock think about changing this. Really do not like the indestructable buildings. It's not just a
The online store supports the major US credit card companies plus PayPal (though PayPal cannot be used for preorders directly due to inherent limitations of their system). If you need to use some other method, you may be able to work something out by contacting directly. This is what I was hoping wouldn't be the case. Not ever
How often will these mega events occur. 1 game in 5 would seem nice to me otherwise they could get rather annoying imo. Lenius.
As long as you provide enough ways to purchase your games through digital distrubution I have no problem with it. i.e. Your potential customers should be able to use various credit cards mastercard, visa, switch/maestro or PayPal. It's also nice that you make a larger profit through digital distrution i'd much rather my money was going mainly to stardock rather than some store. It means you should have more money to make better games in the future. However your prices
