ya, 2 maxed mining bases on influence resources and you dont even need separate influence starbases. just watch the map getting flooded with your influence/color. Id love an option to say how many (or none) resources of each kind should be placed on the map when generating it. influence and military resources are way too powerful imo.

tell him toeither buy GC2 or to stfu. the more success GC2 has, the more time and resources stardock will spent on improving it (and the expansion pack which hopefully adds multiplayer capabilities) and the better for future projects like Master of Magic 2. you cant really compare a game played at "normal" with a game played at challenging unless youd use the same map for both. the setup of the galaxy is a very important factor for how hard or easy a game is going to be (location of AI empires. habitable planets near your homeworld or near the homeworlds of the AI, resources, anomalies etc). the AI could be improved more with some tweaks here and there, but imo it does a good job already

in the later stages with large/huge games Iam getting crashes from time to time too. here is a screenshot of the message. seems like a memory-problem of some sort: http://www.new-avalon.de/pictures/GC2Error.JPG error message is in german. only thing that bothers me a bit is the upgrading of ships and that there is no way to re-enable obsolete designs in the shipyard while outside the shipyard (direct build on map) I can still build every ship I ever designed even if they are obsolete or have been replaced (the list gets a lil long there). ^^ I think all of that will be fixed by the end of this week. and nevertheless I really enjoy the game.

well, tactial battles in MoO2 were pretty cool as long as the number of ships was not soo big (2000 doom stars anyone?). sucked especially in Multiplayer sessions cause it took so long. thats where GC2 will be better at if they eventually add multiplayer with an expansion or patch. the best part of both worlds would be MoM style tactical combat (e.g. limited customization of ships/heroes and limited amount of troops per army/battle/fleet). for non-massive multipl

/shrug the purpose of games is to entertain and to consume your spare time. of course if a game is really great it is very easy to forget about the real world. its a question of discipline. ppl have to realize that escaping the real world and beeing part of a fantasy world is nice and relaxing, however sooner or later real life will come knock at your door and you will have to deal with your problems and responsibilities... so better log out earlier and get
