Well, I guess that I am a bit unique. I choose Yor and take all of the evil choices and then I endup paying the 10,000 BC to be good. I used to be in the top 3 a long time ago. There are a few things that help. If you are good, the other races tend to not want to go to war with you, giving you an easier time to develop an army. It is also easier to get an alliance with the other good races, so they will come to your aid when other races declare war on you. Plus, your colonies are less like

It is possible to go to 100% tax rate and still have morale left. In one gigantic map, I had so many morale resources that I was able to go to 100% tax rate and still have 35% morale left. At 81%, it only dropped to 97%.

Thanks for inviting me a while ago. It got me reinterested in this game. I was all the way up to #3 before, so we'll see what happens!

Ever since Dean Anderson left/became less active, Stargate SG-1 has been getting worse. As for Atlantis, it has been getting slowly better, but it is no where near as good as SG-1.

I heard that when you get 6 and 16 games, the overall drops significantly because it is dividing your scores by 15 and 25, respectively.

That's why I always do a Blitzkreg on the enemy. I position my ships and transports all around the enemy within 3 turns. That way, I can completely take them over in one turn. It works wonders.

This happens the longer you play a game (memory leak?). I've got 2 GB ram, 2.0 AMD 64 bit with a 6600GT. The more objects you see on the main map, the laggier it becomes over time. The best solution is to simply save, quit, reset, and then come back in when it gets too laggy.

Why is increasing your sensor range stupid? The AI will get the same event. Those are galaxy wide events. Plus, if you built Eyes of the Universe (the last sensor tech), all your ships will have 15 sensor range permanently.

If you are lucky, you might be able to buy the starbase from them... Though, I've never been able to do it.

The one good thing about being good is that other races tend to not go to war with you (with the exception of the evil races, of course). That can make playing Suicidal mode much easier.

6. I would like to see an option for "instant movement", where ships just arrive at their destinations (or reach max moves) instead graphically moving 1 square at a time. This would be a huge help. Another maybe better option would be a key assigned to "complete move" so that I can set a ship going, then hit this key and it automatically arrives at its destinati

I would think it would be a bug if you had a ship that was legal, you gain some miniturization, and then you are over your max.

Nope, I don't bother with cheats in this game. Though, it may have something to do with that cheater flag that gets set when you save your game and then load it from the save file... I'll try cntl-z and see what happens.

There needs to be a way to allow all ships that are going to a rally point to move all at once. When I start going to war, I always have dozens of ships being produced and flying to a common point. Since each ship moves individually, it always takes at least 5 minutes (sometimes 10 or more when I finish one war and have to move all the produced ships to a new point, along with new Invaders) in order to resolve the turn. The rally point is often far away from my main planets, so then there are

Save your game, quit, and then reload your save game. You should then be able to invade again... If the enemy invades one of your planets, you'll have to keep reloading to fix it again (assuming you are autosaving every turn).

It seems that every time one of my planets gets invaded, no menus can come up anymore. I cant get to the main menu, the build summary doesn't show, and I can't invade other planets. Anything that requires an additional popup will not work. So to get around this, I have to autosave every turn now because reloading the saved game will restore functionality...

Alright, I finally found the ship I was originally talking about. You can't see the 2 MKIII drives and 2 Ultra supports... Does Suicidal mode give an undocumented 100% to their miniturization? I thought they only got boosts to their building and research?

Oh, and one other bug I noticed, at least vs the Drengin... I took out a military starbase of thiers that gave +49 to attack/defense, but their attack/defense didn't go down at all. I even waited a turn to see if it took affect then, but they were all just as powerful...

15 Replies 10,202 Views

Yep, it only takes 4 years for that to happen. In fact, the Drengin pretty much have EVERYTHING researched within 3-4 years, anyway. They had about 2-3 times the research of any other race. I always play Suicidal difficulty on the biggest universe vs 9 opponents. Though, the research was set to Very Fast, as well. It definately wasn't a huge ship because it only had a logistics count of 3. On a side note, it seems defenses are even more worthless now than before. In 1.

15 Replies 10,202 Views

Before going to war, I was looking over some of the Dregnin ships and I noticed an extremely powerful small ship. I traded for it in order to take a look at its base power... 128 Mass Drivers, 20 Missile Defense, 13 speed, and 4.5 range. The Dregnin's miniture bonus is at 130%, mine is at 140%, but I can't make anything close to this. The readout says 8 Blackhole generators, 2 Aeon Missile Defense, 2 HyperWarp III, and 2 Ultra Supports. All that can't possibly fit on a small hull?
