In my mind none of the GC2 games are finished. They all crash, they all have plenty of small stupid bugs, and overall they all lack polish. If Brad actually believed number 2, he would have put resources into cleaning these games up before releasing them. (or at least really play tested them to realize he had problems)
Well, you should read the GC2 post moterm published in 2006 and available here http
Peace Phoenix
P.S. You still need to autorize game even with those old stadalone patches, as far as I remember. It won't let you run the game otherwise.
GC2 has activation. But I don't think that Sins of a Solar Empire has it....
Well, there is an unofficial patch made by fans that allows you to play GC2, Da or DL in french. It is available here http://trans-galactique.forum2jeux.com/
There may be another problem with Win 2K: Impulse won't run on it and Impulse is the new downloader to be used to download games from Stardock Servers.
From this page http://www.mcvuk.com/press-releases/38261/Galactic-Civilizations-II-Endless-Universe I would think that Kalypso media (who is publishing Sins of a Solar Empire in Europe) is just selling a bundle of GC2 and the 2 expansion packs for the UK market. Unless I have overseen something, a stand alone expansion doesn't require the original game. So the only way that the 2 GC2 expansions works as standalone is only if the base game is also included. BTW, only GC2:DL was availa
The 2.0 update will address a lot of the issues and bugs in Dread Lords
It isn't my understanding from what is in that thread https://forums.galciv2.com/316924
Well, I would have sworn to have previousy posted the following, but who knows ...
v2.0 will be an update for both Twilight and Dark Avatar players
Wasn't GC2 2.0 be supposed to be also an update (even if small) for DL as indicated in the following thread https://forums.galciv2.com/311088 :
Then, probably in July or maybe early August we will be releasing Galactic Civilizations II v2.0. This update will affect all versions of GalCiv II but mostly Dark Avatar and Twilight
The "different computer id" is linked with the sig.bin file that is present in the GC2 folder. Remove it and follow the procedure. GC2 will attempt to validate the game. When it fails, it will offer you a way to the the sig.bin file from e-mail exchange. BTW, the correct procedure to install a game with SDC from another computer, is to create an archive with SDC, move the archive to your galing computer, then use SDC to restore the archive. And instead of installing directly t
Well, you should take a look to the registry directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\GalCiv2. You will find in it a registry key corresponding to the language used byt GC2. Change the value to "english".
I highly doubt Mr. Wardell reads these threds
Well, Brad use 2 accounts when posting on the forums: Draginol and Frogboy
Have you GC2:DA (the first expansion) ? It is required for GC2:TA.
Anyway to cut to the chase, Is it possible to get the game to play in English?
You will need to edit a registry entry to change the language from german to english.
Yes. Don't forget to archive all GC2 modules. Be sure that the games are correctly working (ie activation are correctly made) before going on your trip ;)
1) As the pounds strelings is roughtly equivalent to 2 USD., the ultimate bundle pack will cost you nearly 30£ 2) True. As it is a digital download, no shipping costs and no custom taxes ;) 3) I think there are roughly 3GB worth of contents to be downloaded for the whole bundle 4) You can do that. You will need to use Stardock Central to download and archive the game. Then you will need to transfer the various archives to your gaming computer, then use SDC to install t
was that accidentally left in from the beta?
The campaign wasn't in the various betas.
The sig.bin file is tied with the windows installation. So you will need to use the offline activation with e-mail exchange. Remove the sig.bin file and follows the instructions after launching the game.
BTW, the totalgaming.net page allows you to download the GC2:gold demo, which is the latest available demo.
The ultimate bundle is available here https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=ESD-TGN-W279 for 60$ If you use tokens, GC2 + DA + TA costs 8 tokens or 56$ ( see here for all games that can be bought with tokens http://totalgaming.stardock.com/store/ )
I placed Neutrality Learning Centers on every tile of Mars + a Tech Capital. I also had 2 other planets with research bonuses and built learning centers on those.I set spending 100% in research and it's taking 15 turns to research STINGER and 12 turns for BASIC RAILGUNS. Planetary Invasion 60 TURNS! LOL! What a crock.
Could this be associated with research time problem for the altarians?
It gave me a whole different error message stating that it didn't detect 32 MB of RAM and that I might not have the ability to run the game. This is ridiculous, as I have 2 GB of RAM
The 32MB refers to the RAM on the video card, not the RAM of the computer
8/29/2002 05:00:00
Do you know that your video drivers are 6 years old? That is the problem.
so I got DirectX 10. As for the drivers, they were recently updated when I inst
Well, only GC2 was available at retail in Europe. And TotA isn't available at retail at all. So, unless you want to pay shipping and handling costs from US, digital downloads through Stardock Central/Impulse is the only way available. And it doesn't matter which version of GC2 you have since you will need to upgrade it to the latest available version to play the extensions.
It still is a stupid DRM and it still sucks for many customers and there still is no need at all to activate a single player game
Have you played GC2 version 1.1 or newer ?
Twilight is not available at retail. It is a download only expansion (well, you can always get a CD shipped to you) that must be bought at the Stardock Store
For 2 mains reason: - Paradox has made an official translation for GC2:DL that use the french directories - the unofficial translation isn't really mod: it works on an english setting and the files in the english directories are overwritten with the french ones. There are also some files in non languages directory that are changed.
You may be interested in the unofficial french translation available here http://trans-galactique.forum2jeux.com/ Lots of mistakes have been corrected and it is up to date to the latest version of GC2.
