I started playing GalCivII again after a few year hiatus! :)

Hi, its been quite awhile since I posted here. I'm just about done with a game using 1.4. After I finish it, I'll give a DA a try.
Well I finally completed playing all the races and got my new shiney. I'm going back to custom races now. I think that its too bad that you don't get an all-victory type medal too.
Victory using Korx! 8 down and 2 to go for all races played.
I just finished another game with another race (The Terrans). I only have a few more races to go to have won with all races.
I finished a game with latest beta and the biggest problem that I had was random CTDs. Hopefully they can get these ironed out.
I finally finished my tenth game with a Yor military victory.
Well I finished a tech victory which actually was fairly hard. This was due to the fact that the last AI's planets were "flipping" and I had to make sure I didn't win a conquest victory before I finished last tech.
I finally got another game finished. It looks like with the score inflation that I'll be hard pressed to stay in top 250. And I lost my former Top 25 medal to boot.
I just finished game 6 with a conquest victory. Thankfully the Terrans surrendered to bring the game to an end. I just can't see score milking when I can be starting another game.
Finally checking in. The forums tend to be so slow that I don't have the patience to wait for threads to load sometimes.
I think that I found one source of the game locking up. The Monster Anomaly (type 12) appears to lock the game up. While scanning the anomalies within anomalies.xml, I noticed the first anomaly was Monster1. I had never seen the monster yet and at first I thought that was the result of the occurence setting of 3. Since I had successfully tested individual anomilies that I modded by creating a .xml file with just the anomaly being tested, I decided to check out the monster by using anomalies.x
Yup, the metaverse is not always correctly showing the difficulty for games. I finished a "maso" game and it showed up as normal. I hope this isn't affecting the scoring too. :/
Hmmm...I played a Medium game that I started using metaverse downloaded conditions. After finishing and submitting it, the game shows in profile but is not counted in rankings. Does this mean that custom races created using the program do not count as metaverse friendly? Edit: nevermind, it seems the metaverse is very slow to update.
Hmmm..well here's what I did to move from drive c to drive e...1) Archive GC2 program, multimedia, etc seperately using SDC 2)when SDC asks you if you want to archive everything while doing main GC2 program choose "no" since that will archive the multimedia, etc with the main program and mess up updates, 3)after archiving is done, uninstall GC2. 4)change install directory setting in tools-->settings-->games 4)restore GC2 and all other parts of game. 5-10 minutes max on my slower machine. <
I would have to honestly say that my chances of using a multi-player feature in GC2 are next to nothing. Also I would say that its naive to think that a majority of the people who purchase GC2 are any different than me. Afterall the reason that GC is popular in its 4X niche is the strong single player gameplay. If I ever want to play multiplayer strategy, I will play a game specificly designed for it. <img src="smiles/Smile.
Even if you ordered the CD, the serial number provided allows you to still download the game at any time (as well as the updates). Thus you don't have to worry about breaking the CD and losing the game.
Hmmm...I thought about something similar to this but the difference is that I want only to save hull designs, with added eye candy and none of the working modules, to the hull lists for the various races.
Well the PQ increase ability has to increase the number of usable tiles on colonized planets somehow or , as it has been already stated, PQ ability really is useless beyond your homeworld. An alternate idea would be to have a hidden class of tiles that normally is unsusable to any race unless they have the PQ ability. That way you could land on a PQ4 world and have a random chance of the special tile type appearing and thus could potentially have a PQ5 world right away in addition to the norm
I am new to this game(I have never heard of it untell PC gamer had it in there) I played MOO3 is GC a good game better than MOO3 I know that this game is in its testing stage? Hmmm..I'm not sure if you are refering to Galactic Civilizations (the original) or GC2 which is being tested here. GC1 and the AP expansion are much better than MOO3 and
Now if only I can get my meta problems sorted, I can submit the 6k game I played the other day and at last break my previous high of third place I feel your pain. I cannot send my game either.
Hmmm...I too had zero problems upgrading and zero problems like the ones you described afterward. BTW I'm using SC build 95. It appears that build 97 might be the culprit for you guys.
Relax! When they give a date for release, the time of release is almost always after the normal workday is finished. So check back this evening for the download.
Hmmm...I think you have things backwards. Evil might retreat without any thought for losses such as planets and population while good might sacrifice itself for the greater good of protecting the population. That being said, I think tying morality to the ability to retreat is not very good idea IMHO.
I was surprized when beta 3 wouldn't run until I saw this post. I, too, have only a 32MB card at the moment. I am disappointed that I will not be able to participate in the beta test until I can upgrade. Oh well!
