Okay, so you're saying that making the GC2 able to run multiplayer is not the difficulty at all, but rather the task is about tweaking the game so that the multiplayer experience is interesting, balanced, dynamic, etc etc. I hope that's the truth, because I really wasn't seeing how merely giving the game multiplayer abilities was such a programming challenge, in and of itself. So if that is the situation, I am surprised they didn't offer some rudimentary multiplayer, by email or some

Okay, so I'm understanding that the reason multiplayer is hard to program is because GC2 is a turn based game, but I still don't get it. The players take their turns one at a time, then when they are done the information needs to be sent to the other players' cpus. I still don't see how that is much different than the game keeping track of what the AIs are doing each turn. There obviously is some large difficulty that I am not seeing. Alfonse seems to know, if anyone else does feel free to
Okay, everybody says that adding multiplayer is a big project, would take a lot of code and time, etc etc, but after all this debate now I want to know is why is that the case? I mean, the entire game is already there. All multiplayer seems to me is having another person instead of a computer player, and sending each other the information of each other's moves and whatnot. You're not programming new ships or new graphics or ANYTHING. Just do a small adjustment to the game setup. WHY IS IT S
I like the upgrade feature and think it's both necessary and "realistic" (when new technologies come out, makes sense that you can tweak your ship, rather than having to build a whole new one), but agree it might be better to make upgrading possible only on bases and planets. But for those who like playing tricks like the ones described above, what I can say, you're dealing with AI, there will always be ways to exploit the system. If you don't like c
Yes, and more importantly, who can install for him, cuz he definitely is not capable of doing that on his own.
ah, thanks for finding my thread. for some reason it doesn't show up under "my posts" anymore.... prolly something I accidently did of course.
Many thanks to everyone for the advice. "Run the demo...." of course, why didn't I think of that? Now I'm worried that maybe it's my brain that needs an upgrade to compete with the AI
I have an over 2 year old HP pavilion ze4400 laptop, with the following specs: mobile AMD XP2400+, 1.79 GHz 448 MB of RAM video is a IGP 340M, with 64.0 MB of memory runs 1024x768, 32 bit color, direct 9.0c compatible. Specifically, are there gonna be any major problems with only 64.0MB of video?? (**note: I made this post last night as well, but when I woke up this morning and checked my acc
