shouldnt you guys be puting your time to better use and working on the game? While I know you are kidding, I just thought I would mention that RomanDA is not officially affiliated with Stardock. AFAIK he is a costomer and a damn fine skinner who made these out of the goodness of his heart to share, b

Woohoo!!! Yes, I am so geeky that I think I will even write a blog about this win! Congrats to the other winners.
I think if we counted people having bad experiences they would be in the majority. Rubbish. Simply stupid, boorish, moronic rubbish. Fact, the game has won a LOT of "Editor's Choice" awards. And while I don't rely on the gaming media for what I think, the fact remains that the number
Hmmm, don't most stores (ESPECIALLY Wal*Mart) expressly forbid photography of any kind in their stores? Heh, well I know I did surreptitiously look around before I snapped a shot (the one with the little dude holding the game on the floor is mine) and quickly hid the camera again.
Now, my question is simply: how do I know that the game I am playing is updated with the CE content and the bonus pack ?? Everyone gets the bonus pack. Just make sure you have downloaded it. It is separate from the CE stuff. As far as the CE stuff, go in to the Ship Builder and select extras. If y
Yep. My first victory was a cultural victory. I never built a single attack ship, nor a single transport. Nothing. Just made nice-nice with everyone and built TONS of starbases, then researched the heck out of the tech tree for anything that would increase my influence and diplomacy. It was a blast actually. It was what proved to me that you actually can win the game any way you want.
I have made it to all four endings. Influence is the best, as others have said. Tech was probably the worst, but still cool. The ships in the diplomatic movie are, well, just silly looking. Military ending is pretty cool as well.
Just another plug for the Omega's. They work superb on my 4 year old laptop with a Mobility Radeon 7500. The game plays just fine (I just can't crank up the AA and have all the effects).
I think changing this should be the very last thing that anybody bothers with. It is such a minor thing, I just don't think it is worth it. I actually like the animations. I find them quite humorous.
I don't have any suggestions other than what Nicolas already mentioned. I also use the Omega drivers for my laptop (exact same card as Nicolas), and they run the game without any problems. Omega's work on Nvidia drivers has halted recently, but his most recent ones will still me a LOT better than 2 year old ones from Dell.
Crazyhawk: Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
Here is my most recent blog article on the game over on my blog. Comments welcome.
I have been using the Omega's for my old ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 for a year or two. Simply fantastic.
How often is it auto-saving? I notice this, but only when it is auto-saving at the end of a turn.
I thought it was a very well written, even, and honest review. Great score for a great game. I think that the "Editor's Choice" award should mean more than the numerical score. Quite an honor, and very well deserved. I haven't had this much fun playing a game since Rise of Nations. That should tell you something.
Great news! Will keep spreading the word!
P.P.S. Nothing beats BlueDev's son, though, IMHO. So adorable! Ah thanks Jeysie! I sure think he is! But I have to say, I think you may have a hard time with some of those items on your list, particularly that Kevin Costner thing. . .
irc.stardock.com Don't use mIRC, so I can't tell you how to set it up, but it sounds like you know already.
Brilliant! I love the look.
All right, so I had a little fun with this, I hope you will forgive my self-indulgence. My little man and I head to the local Best Buy (Durham, North Carolina). His big first birthday is coming up in a week, need some ideas, right? We head to the game section to see what he wants to play (hey, we gotta teach 'em young, right?). He makes a beeline straight for the last copy of . . . Gal Civ II! <a href="http://img401.imageshack.us/my.php?image=1000925small0ey.jp
I just have to plug one of my favorite freeware programs, Hoversnap: Linky Just start this before you start the game and then every time you hit Prt Sc button it will automatically save the screenshot in whatever format you chose in the options. It will automatically name them however you tell it to. It may cause a little, very brief pause in the game (really only noticeable during fleet battles and perhaps if zoomed in on a rotati
So, I finally purchased Gal Civ II today (direct download version), received my receipt, opened SDC which automatically logged into my Stardock account and loaded my GCII serial for me (that was nice). I was able to preload the main game files, but had problems getting the tutorials, movies and media to download. A reinstall of SDC has fixed that so far (tuts downloading at ~340 KB/sec). But I also looked up my serial numbers and received that email. As I am a pretty loyal Stardock customer,
