Ah I see. Still seems weird for a starship with no apparent hyperdrive can still reach a near by star in 5-8 weeks. Isnt hyperdrive supposed to have revolutionized the galaxy? 5-8 weeks to a nearby star is preaty damn fast. I would have immagined a ship would need even the most basic of hyperdrives to even travel 1 parsec/turn. Something I hope stardock might change. I thought population also effected manufacturing (enhancing already exsisti

Definatly something that needs to be added. What? a race is so advanced that it can make huge city sized space stations but cant patch them up? With enough contructors you can technicaly build a full huge city starbase in 1 week but you can only repair 1 hp a week? Not right at all.
I have a few honest questions that seemed to confuse me. And I was wondering if any one could answer them? 1) Why is it that when I remove the hyperdrive, sensors and life support off a ship it can still travel to other stars? I was thinking if I made a ship a pure planet defender by taking off traveling modifications and parts I could fit more wepons and armor but it would not be able to move from the planet. Immagine my surprise when I ind
I honestly hope stardock puts some of these in the game patches. Besides the basic (and complicated) GU interface changes most people are requesting there were a few game changes that caught my eye that would improve the game vastly. Two of these are a anti-colonly rushing idea using logistics for the number of colonies you can support, and a reverse racial attribute system giving you penalties for more points to spend, of course to a maximum of -5 or
Moo3 had some very nice complexity in a horrible horrible format. I agree that in the next galciv perhaps different races will prefer different planets or at least SHOULD. It was noted somewhere in the 'bio's' for each race that Torians prefer worlds with more water. So why shouldnt a water world have a higher PQ for Torians then any other race? Just my opinion. Heck I dont see why they couldnt just alter racial planets in a patch down the road. Wouldn
Capital idea. I fully support every seguestion the author gave. Maybe in a mini downloadable expantion labeled something along the lines of "Boldy going where no one has gone before" or some cliche thing like that. The expantion would expand anomolies expontentialy. Requiring detail in how to handle 'advanced' or 'exotic' anomolys. For example you stumble upon a advanced anomoly which tells you that you require sensors mk 2 to survey. You research it
I play with a very universalist mentality. I have never colonized a planet below 4 PQ. In a 4 PQ - 10 PQ planet I make 1-2 factories depending on the Quality (always buying the first factory of every planet I colonize. it cuts the total tile build time in half for every job you put down. Definatly worth the 450 bc. I also buy the first starport a turn after the factory for the first 5 planets I colinize), a starport always right after the factories and
I heard some one mention moons increase planetary production? Or at least are supposed to? I was wondering why moons were around some planets, I figured it was just asthetics, It was kinda weird seeing bright pink moons though. Kinda stood out. Is there a list of small minor things that improve your planet like this in the game? Besides the obvious tile bonus'.
I am a long time 4x player from the origional master of orion games. Of everything I am impressed with in GalCiv2, the AI has to be the most impressive. I play on sub-normal and can have fun but when I switch to just normal I get my butt kicked. Normal for me is a challenge and im a experienced 4x player, so that says something about the difficulty.
To bad Im at my work computer otherwise I would post a screen shot but the best start I ever had was 1 Precursor Mine (+700% Minerals), 2 Exotic Mineral Deposits (+300% Minerals each for a total of +600%) and 1 Precursor Artifact (+300%). I had this when I chose the Industrialist Party and maxed out all my social and military production abilities. Suffice it to say I was pumping out colony ships every 2 turns right from the start.
