RTS Nut
I was recently looking through some of my old saved ships from (gasp..) 1.0 and I found one of my favorite cruisers. I'm asking is there anyway to convert the old shipclass format into the xml format used by the game now. Ive taken a look at the shipclass file and other than being able to make out some scattered components its all gibberish, unlike the clean and streamlined xml. So is there any way or possibly a utillity program that can do this? Or am I hopeless?
All its still around, in a way that is. In fact, I'm the Coder What stopped us was that Spartan, (the Head Modder)couldn't scrounge up enough money for the server, and had some personal problems to deal with. I still have the files, a bug ridden Techtree and GC2Types. If I ever get the time to fix most of the bugs I'll post it on the library.
I try to basicly model mine around the type of ship class. Example: Tiny: Fighters that are fast, with a good weapon no defenses. Small: Corvettes or frigates, moderately armed and armored, decent speed. Medium: Heavy frigates and light destroyers, heavly armed, moderately armored, good speed. Large: Destroyers and cruisers, the mainstay of my fleet, armed to the teeth, with the armor to match, slow. Huge: Heavy Cruisers and Battleships/Dreadnaughts, truly the behemo
Your best freind will be notepad, and paint(or photoshop), that is if your thinking of just tweaking the units, techs, and making new portraits. If you plan on importing models, I'm sure there more qualified people than me to show you how to do that.
