Jonnann, you forgot to mention how to top up that colony ship [e digicons]B)[/e] Just move it into orbit around your homeworld (move it "into" the homeworld), then take it out of orbit again. When it leaves orbit you get a choice of how many colonists you want to take with you. And yes, it is mindboggling why they made that design decision.

Thanks again. That's really nice to know. The manual isn't all that specific and I havent really found another place but this forum to get info like this. Is therea FAQ or similar with relevant info?
Thanks, that is helpful. I wouldn't risk peace with them as they were allied with the Altarians, so declaring war on them again might give me a war with the Altarians and thus ruin my diplomatic victory. I did try to see how they reacted to giving me a planet, but it was always a no-go (red text). So I gather the method in a similar situation is to simply keep going until they will give me all their planets, or they surrender to someone.
Let me try to be more specific. Perhaps that can elicit a respons [e digicons]^_^[/e] I was at war with the Torians, grinding them down surely but slowly. I was also allied with the Thalans and Altarians, so I would get a diplomatic victory by eliminatint the Torians. Tha Altarians were allied with the Torians (and me) and was in the process of eliminating the Thalans. I looked repeatedly for an option in the Diplomacy screen to get the Torians to surrender
Of course. How stupid I am [e digicons]8C[/e] Thanks.
I have a planet with four Research labs, two of them on 100% bonus tiles. This adds up to 36 points. Yet I only get 17 research points from the planet. Why is that? How does this work? Screenshot:
I just finished a game witn a diplomatic win, where I had to beat the Torians to get rid of all the non-allies. But I couldn't get them to surrender. Is that option controlled by their mood/morale? They did eventually surrender to the Altarians, but it would have been more satisfactory to have them surrender to me. Should I have offered them a peace treaty first? Perhaps my overwhelming military might could have induced them to accept an alliance? It is a bit boring to slowly wear the
Try my AsaRaceMod I tried to issue that, it would be nice to have feedback on that.
MrKorx, that mod looks interesting, but it doesn't seem to address balance issues in general, nor starbase defense issues. Still, I've downloaded it and will try it out, eventually. Theres a definite limit to how much time I can spend playing, so don't expect much feedback (sorry). I checked out the mod list, and it only seem
Ok then, somebody must have been tempted to do a "Balance mod" or something like that. Is there such a thing?
In many other games you can mod things like these, e.g. doubling the effect of starbase defences. Is that possible in GC2?
OK, thanks. So I won't be able to separate the mods, right? Meaning uninstall will be difficult.
For example, I downloaded the UFP styles . The zip contains several directories nut no install instructions. I can find several places to put them Under an UFP folder in my Mod folder in the C:\Programs\Stardocc Games\etc. but this is not a full mod in itself - I want to have several ship styles available in the same game Under a common shipstyle folder in my Mod folder in the C:\Programs\Stardocc Gam
Too late [e digicons]X([/e] 2 was great, but it's a bit old now. I found 3 boring in the long run. Too much sameness. 4 was the best. By far. 5 is crap. Oh well, 3 is playable, I guess.
Well, as I said, they should tell us. I'm new to the game.
It seems that I can't load my savegame in TA after updating. Is it correct that the update is not savegame compatible? If so, please post such info along with the feature list so I can make an informed decision as to when to update. I got the feature list in an email btw. Edit: I can start a new game, but not load my quicksave.
Roxlimn, thank you. That got me to look further. Sole Soul, I'm not talking about selecting the end of the tech tree, just doubleclicking on a tech a few steps down the line to get what I'm going for fairly easily. Should be an obvious feature. ubernaught, I do have imagination, thank you. That wasn't really helpful at all. I found a game example that convinced me that the game does let you set long term strategies and go for them. They just don't really come into play
I registered at Stardock quite a while ago, and that email addy is now outdated. I can't gind a way to change iy in my account settings, however. I then ordered the GalCiv2 bundle, and inadvertently gave my new email addy. So now I'm stuck with wanting to play a game I have paid for and can't get. I get a "Download problem" when trying to get the game. And the support system has an expected response time of "up to two business days" - and this is a Saturday. Grrr. I should have known
I wonder what it is about this game that intrigues people. I tried the demo and have a few basic observations: - Ship design and ship upgrading seems tedious. I'd certainly have to rely on downloading some fancy templates - You colonize, grab resources, build up your starbases and planets and send out freighters. Haven't done much with war yet, but the peaceful buildup seems tedious and repetitive. What's the point? I guess there is one, as the game seems popular. - I
