I'd really like to be able to transport food between my own planets (or from alien planets if they'll sell it) using Trader Hulls. If the food lost a bit of value for every turn it spent in transit (number of Traders on that route/average speed)=additional food available per planet. It'd give another reason for traders and make taking out food transports an interesting tactic in war. Perhaps have a diplomacy penalty for doing so, but the results might be worth it...
verybad
I think Hive should be treated differently. Factories aren't something that shoudl be built overnight, that makes no sense. How about make it so Hive races don't lose morale as the planet becomes more crowded, possibly a higher max population also. That sounds like more of a hive than building factories quickly. Plus is scales with the race rather than with the number of planets taken/colonized. At higher levels, you can just buy factories to get a colony on it's way, so it means less. High popu
My best Battlestation ever was a Mining Station (I think it was on Economic Enhancement). I like to play massive maps with few stars and planets and slow technology, so space is more terrain like (and I think more strategic) I built one and the Drengin started threatening, since it was the closest to them, I upgraded the station with some defenses. sure enough, the Drengin attack a bit later and they go for my mining station. It survives, wiping out a minor fleet, but is heavily damaged
I'd like to see technologies that can't be discovered through research possibly happen through Megaevents. Supernova's destroy panets within a certain radius. (a wavefront from the explosion allowing you to evactuate a few planets would be cool) An incredibly powerful slow, single ship go on a rampage through the universe (what is it looking for) An enormous ammount of dark matter forms in an area of space that is slower to travel through. (perhaps with a technology th
