Thanks for the advice. I appreicate it. I just reinstalled DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime and there were no warnings or apparent failures. I'm not too fussed about graphics i just really enjoy the AI. You've given me the confidence to take a punt. But if anyone else has some contrary advice please don't be shy!

Ok, let me say upfront that i know nothing about computer hardware and software etc;. i have a laptop which is a about two and a half years old. I'm quite fine not playing game son it but I really enjoyed Gal Civ 1 and given the modest specs on Glav Civ 2 i thought i would check to see if this hunk of junk could manage Gal Civ 2. The laptop is still pretty good the problem is with the video card. Brad's FAQ doesn't really help me since i have no idea what is equivalent to the mentione
