Howdy! What would be really be nice is if the Map Editor could import maps from saved games. I will probably be corrected in this but it seems that the random map generation from within the game is superior to that generated by the Editor. I would have thought that the same alogrithms and code would be used in the Editor, but the maps generated just don't seem to have the same, hmm, flavor of the game-generated ones. Not to mention, it would be nice to be able to modify a particularly intere

Comparing this game to Civ3, Alpha Centauri, Heros of Might and Magic and so on...these are MUCH older games that, I think, do not take full advantage of 3D graphics if at all. The engines in each of those games is much simpler that the one in GC2. The fact that none of those other games crash is not relevant. The complexity of the 3d graphic engines and the HUGE variety of pc computer configurations out there make problems inevitable. As an SW engineer, this should be obvious. Consider: GT

I've been fairly free of any significant bugs throughout the betas so far...until now! Anyway, my current game has two stars that exist on the minimap but not on the main map. And the same goes for a couple of planets as well. So far, no AI has colonized these phantom worlds, so it appears that the AI can't see 'em either...
