Not sure if any of the dev is reading this, but I hope they are. Maybe we should start a petition to get heroes in the game. If enough of us are out there who wants this to happen, Stardock will comply. They have proven to be a company who is in touch with its consumers and that is something most company should be envious of. I will donate $20 to a charitable cause (A Legit charity group) in Stardock's name. Hopefully we can nudge them into putting heroes in the game and help out

I was thinking of how to pull this off using mod. A hero unit can just be a module (as Jen Dragon stated). It has to be a one time use and an image of the hero should be show when the ship is clicked. When that ship with the hero module is parked on a planet, it can give that planet some bonus and disadvantage (balancing purpose).
Hi, What program do i need to mod the movies in the game? I was thinking of adding my own movie event. Also, how do i replace the little diplomacy animation. Replacing the different race in the game really doesn't do much since when you contact the race via diplomacy, the old image is still there. Please Help
I enjoyed SC3. Not as much as SC2, but it was still a fun game. Especially the part that finally revealled the true nature of the Precursors. My favorite ship was still the humans.
How bout instead of arguing if there should be a GalCiv hero feature or not, lets discuss what the Hero units can and can not do or what type of heroes you will have. Personally, I would like to see the Empire leader to be a hero unit. That way, I can stick him (my self persona in game) into a ship and have him run around the galaxy kicking butt and still run my empire. But i'd be careful since if he does, I would personally feel the loss. Also, my economy/production/morale would t
back to the subject. For sure this game is a different entity from MOO series. Personally, I like the Galciv series a little bit more. But wanting a feature or similar feature is not such a bad thing. Besides, the developer stated that they do take into account what the players/consumers wanted. So if we want a certain feature, they would try to meet it. I wonder if we can get a response from someone at Stardock on this subject. (NOT A QUOTE THAT WAS A RESPONSE TO
Another quote from Brad: "Yes, and what I'm saying is that you're going to be disappointed. GalCiv has its own take on what space strategy games should be and it has a legacy and fan base that goes as far back as the original MOO as well." Well Einstein once said, <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center
As leader of my vast empire, I would stil like to have some heroes. Take for instance Franklin Rosevelt. Sure he was the all mighty leader of the US during WW2. But he still had hero units like MacArthur, Nimitz, and Eisenhower. I think hero units would add to the game. Take for instance of the alignment, if you hire a hero and his alignment is good while you just turned evil, he can always defect to another empire or steal a few of your ships/fleets and fight you. He can even
As much as i liked MMO 2. It wasn't finish. It lack the 3d graphics, forget about the fact that when it was release, it wasn't really in. They could've always patched it. So I think they screwed up there already. Also, the AI was pretty lame. I tore a whole fleet with the Gyro destabilizer. Also, the ground combat sucked. They should've finished it by making the ground combat a First Person Shooter. *ending sarcasm* My point is, if a feature you wanted is not in t
Those are freaking sweet... I think i just nutted myself
After reading through some threads, I found one idea that would be great. How bout having a Hero or Heroes in game similar to Master of Orion. Like every race should have one atleast that is their Leader. He can be on a planet which would give bonus to that planet or assigned to Captain a ship and that ship would recieve bonus. But say when the Leader Hero dies, there would be a moral drop for a period of time and a new leader comes into power, but the ruling political party would change since t
OMG.. I Love Star Control.. Star Control 2 is the best. You can download the game free and totally legal at sc2.sourceforge.net or click on this http://sc2.sourceforge.net
Sorry, I didn't get that when I updated my game. You should just stop downloading "free" porn and then blaming stardock because your computer is slowing down.
I agree with Oxonian.. 2225? c'mon.. everyone knows the worlds gonna end in 2012 and everything after that will be ruled by mutant rats from mercury unless of course the aliens from Sigma Prime goes to mercury and feed off the babies of the mutant rats. Then you'll have the psychic dogs of pluto ruling the stars making it harder for the Dregin to take over the Galaxy and everyone knows that Dregins are afraid of dogs. PSSHHH... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/T

I got one.. How bout being able to control your ship or fleet during combat. For espionage, how bout being able to send assassins to kill their leader. If successful, then the new leader can be generated randomly who might be more willing to do what you wish, or just plain maniacle that he'll want you dead. Maybe rerolling the type of political party the affected race has. Either strenghtening the old party or going with a new one with different bonus. Another suggest
Habadacus, Star Control 2 is the best of the series.. The first one was just a strategy game. And third one was a cheap imation of the second one. The Second game is a free and legal download here http://sc2.sourceforge.net
Hello there, first i'd like to just say.. WOW.. GREAT GAME. My question is, where did ya get the inspiration to do the shielded earth for its own protection idea? In Star Control 2, earth was shielded/imprisoned for its own protection. There any plans of a single player game based on the current Galciv universe, similar to what the creators of space empire 4 did? I would buy a game where I was incharge of a ship/fleet where I had to travel to various stars to
A good follow up game to Galciv would be a single player game very similar to Star Control 2. Like a Space Opera game using the story following the campaign. You can get the Star Control 2 game at http://sc2.sourceforge.net and its free and open source
I want to know how to replace some of the major and minor races with some of my own custom races I'm developing. What files should I be looking at? For instance, I wanna change their image and race logo. Also their tone, for instance the Thalians seem to roll the SSSS alot. And is there a way to replace the standard ships (example: Battleship design) with a custom one i made in the shipbuilder so that race would always build that ship when it wants to build a battleship? I want to do all this us
Everytime I try to post on one of the other topic (example Modding), it always posts my message on the top CalCiv II forum instead and does not post in the appropriate topic forum. I am selecting the right topic from the drop down list. What's goin on.. NEED HELP!!! I want to join the community, but i'm still waiting at the door knocking. LET ME IN!!! I'll BE NICE...
Hello all. I was wondering if someone can show me how to use the Mod folder. I want to replace a few of the races with a custom race included with their own backstory and pictures. Same thing for the minor races as well. What files should I be looking at? Also, i would prefer to use the mod folder so I can always turn the option off and play the regular game. Anyone know what files goes in what folder in there? Oh, and is there a way to replace say the standard battleship with a
I keep trying to post in the modding section. On Topic, i select GalCiv II->Modding and it still post it in the GalCiv II forum
