Here what someone wrote about AIs which would seem to relate to the AI learning problem: " One well known problem for AI is the "frame problem". It is known that humans, when faced with a particular problem to solve, somehow manage to consdier only a relevant subset of all the information stored in memory; thereby weeding out a vast store of irrelevant information. All efforts to duplicate this process with AI have, to date, failed." So as humans every time we play a game of Galci

I have never seen a strategy game yet where the hardcore fan didn't complain about how bad the AI was. Now I see why most developers doesn't even try to update the AI after the game is released since it seems Brad can't win. There are dozens of thread in Civ4 where people are complaining of how bad civ4 AI is. It's been pointed out that the majority of those who buy the game will never play on higher levels. So it seems there's not much profit for a developer to continue updating the AI just fo
The problem with tactical battles IMO with games like Civ4 and Galciv 2 is it would hurt the strategic part of the game just like it does with games like RTW and MTW. On a strategical level if you got an even match there is 50% you will win the battle and 50% chance you'll lose but if you add in tactical battles an experience players will always win an even match. So instead of the battle being 50/50 you would have a 100% chance of victory with more experience of playing you'll come out with l
You need to hit the "default" tag ( "change" mod in the option menu) for the "Example" mod to show up in the menu for some reason.( you'll then see both "default" and "example" on the list) I know i did before it showed up. After choosing the example mod you got to reload the game.
Brad please don't get discouraged. Galciv2 AI is very good but of course not unbeatable. The fact the AI can and does uses every option the game provides as well the AI reacts to what actions the human player does is a big plus and really all you can asked from any AI. I don't know if you been over HoMMV forums but some there complaining how bad it's AI is comparing to Galciv2. I feel sorry for the person whio programmed HoMM5 AI as he getting hammered because Galciv2 AI. Any TBS AI in
What hotkey screen? I didn't know there was one ?!
Galciv2 AI adready truely challenges. Of course after a number of games your brain will figure out how to beat any AI. If your PC had the ability of your brain which is wire and rewire itself we would see an AI that can adabt. AI is so predictable because a PC is nothing but a fancy calculator.
If you into PC gaming I would go ahead and upgrade to atleast 1gb of ram. More and more games are using around a gig of ram.
You are right , this game does suck ... a lot of hours
What keeps Civ3 and civ4 on my PC isn't the multiplayer but MODS. It doesn't take long for multiplayer to get old after playing a few games. I have a feeling it the same with most gamers
I read where people are complaining about Civ4 AI at CFC forums. some people you will never make happy not matter what you do. I wouldn't mind if there was a tougher AI option that does use more CPU who has faster CPU (dual-core) and don't mind waiting a minute or two between turns.
YAWN ..... Now back to something important like how Brad updated the AI.
I believe good games like Galciv II doesn't need copy protection since most PC Gamers want to support great games. While I like consoles I'm still a hardcore PC Gamer who wants games like GalCiv2 to be successful. I rent most consoles games since i done with them in a few days. Galciv2 is one i be playing for a long time to come especially with updates.
It's ashame the game taken hits on ratings because of no multiplayer when so many gamers plays only single player including Civ4. Civ4 multiplayer becomes totally a war game instead of a empire building one. I agree you made the right decision. Multiplayer is so overrated when it comes to TBS.
The cursor bug has be known with other games as well including Civ 4. I got the cursor bug once while playing Civ4 myself. I had to reboot but now have the mouse "shortcut" on my desktop just in case it happens again. (That's so I can click the option of using the control key to reveal cursor location.)
I thought the left over research did go toward the next tech in civ4 but not in civ3. p.s I double check and I'm right the surplus does carry over to the next tech in Civ4 so you must have meant Civ3.
Express 200 is integrated graphic so it pretty much very low end. I agree, even a $50 card is better than integrated graphic cards. I have the same card on my motherboard. This is all you need for anything but running games on your pc.
"We also need your help. If you're interested in the game, spread the word... If you know other strategy gamers who might like this, feel free to link to this news item." In another words Brad you want us to get gamers hopelessly addicted to civ games like we are. I couldn't do that to my friends.
