I've recently noticed W8 & Win8.1 demonstrating this issue. Explorer.exe dies, the task bar gets corrupted visually. None of the icons can be clicked on. I have to go into the task manager, force kill explorer.exe, then re-run it.
I have LH, and it's been very satisfactory so far. I don't want to go back to play regular Fallen Enchantress. My only complaint would be that it took a couple of turns for it to feel really very different from FE. Perhaps just some new assets? *shrugs* dunno.
I'm a fairly casual gamer, and I don't tend to play through to the end game very much, in part due to my RL schedule. I play 90% of my games as a stock Lord Relias and tend to play at the easier levels. I'm not the power gamer of several of the other beta testers and really don't tend to bother with optimization maximizing. For me, this is an easy choice. I definitely prefer more essence over less essence because it gives me more flexibility, particularly in my starting capitol. I don't count on it being my biggest city, so I can sacrifice food for production. Thus my vote is 3/3/2. That's enough food to grow to a reasonable level, and more than enough production to have some rapid development. My ordering would be 3/3/2, 4/2/2, 4/3/1, 5/2/1 for preference in starting location. <
