More testing - boy do I need a life! I, as no doubt all of you do, tend to autopilot to the new planet. Just tested autopilot adjacent to the planet and then manually moved to colonise - did not get the CTD. I would suggest the following work around - autopilot adjacent to the planet and then manually move to colonise.
Captain Cook
Just to clarify - I am not getting crashes on colonisation with "Skip Moves Left Over From Auto Pilot" on and "Grid Lines" off. I started getting CTD's when I had "Skip Moves Left Over From Auto Pilot" off - reason for doing this unknown, probably beer related. I have re-tested "Skip Moves Left Over From Auto Pilot" off, "Grid Lines" on and am now getting CTD, whether the planet is in the starting system or a new system.
Just tested the following: 1 - "Skip Moves Left Over From Auto Pilot" off, "Grid Lines" off - CTD either autopilot/manual colonisation. 2 - "Skip Moves Left Over From Auto Pilot" off, "Grid Lines" on - no CTD.
What I found was that I had unchecked the option "Skip Moves Left Over From Auto Pilot" in the game options section. The game would crash after I autopiloted a colony ship to a planet and accepted the default name. Once I reinstated that option, I no longer had crashes on colonisation. I am currently running without grid lines on and have no problems with colonising.
Not sure if this is a problem or the ship is not in sensor range of the planet . Link I found where the ship was from the minimap by toggling ships off/on - this reveals the locations of ALL ships. On the other hand, the Korx may start with the abiliity to use cloaking devices?!
I can consistently create a CTD upon colonising (first) planet. First uncheck Skip Moves Left Over From Auto Pilot in the options. AutoPilot colony ship to habitable planet, accept default name and CTD follows. Can anyone else replicate?
