We hold about similar miltary rankings, according to the graphs. I'm not at war with anyone else, in fact my relations with everyone else are Friendly. I was curious to see if others had this attack with no warning -- I know they wanted to get away from people attacking/peace/attacking turn after turn, so I was curious to see why the computer was doing it. :notsure: At any rate, I'm not sure if it's a bug, a strategy of the AI, or what.. but it'd at least be nice to see a, '

I'm in an intelligent, small game (with the most recent release), and the Yor collective and I have been duking it out for a bit. Nothing much is happening, except the Yor destroying trading ships. I figure the war isn't worth it, at the moment, so I sue for peace.. one tech added in, and they are happy to oblige. Their relations change to Cool. I press the turn button, and I see the Yor attack one of my trading ships again! No, 'YOu must be assimilated' message, or any indi

I've done a three games now with Uncommon planet setting, on a large galaxy. The first one, I had a very good setup -- influence resources everywhere, a decent amount of planets... I won easily. The second game was far different -- I had three planets, having to colonize two 14 PQ planets to bring myself up to 5. I was able to capture one resource. Why? Because of my start position. There was very little around me, and I was in the center of the galaxy, basically surrounded. I end

Just a minor thing, that isn't all that important, but it sure bugs me to see. :p Sometimes, when I click on the button to bring up my lists of planets, the list will be at the bottom of the range of planets. (Ie, I usually keep it sorted by class, and the list will be at the lower classes). I assume it just picks up where I left off, but that's not the bug. When it does this, it will often have the slider be at the top -- making it seem as if those are the highest quality

I've wondered about this myself. In one game, all of the major races allied up against the Drengin, except for myself. When they surrended, they didn't surrender to me, but to one of the races waging war on them. Can't figure that out... you surrender to spit in the face of those who are attacking you so they can't have everything... but you surrender to the same people who are attacking you.

No starbases, that I could see. I haven't gotten enough of his area to explore to see if he has any blue cubes being mined, though I have one going pretty decently. I have all of the trade goods researched thus far (diplomatic translators, aphrodisiacs, tri metal, and frictionless clothing). Not sure about the wonders he has built, I can only remember the Yor building one, but I might have just missed it. Only thing I can think of is population, but I don't think his population in th

I've played a couple games now where I've won with the alliance victory. Both of them were ones where I had alliances with two other races. I got to thinking about it, and even though I was militarily under powered in respect to both of them, they had no qualms about allying with me. Has anyone ever had an AI reject an alliance offer? Or if you offer them alliance, and you demand something else from them, they give it to you? (I could see this if you are a much bigger power

As an alternative, you (or the AI's), should be allowed to negotiate out of a treaty. For instance, I make the Drengins form Peace with my friends, the Torians. I tell them it has to last 50 turns. If, after 20 turns, they want to go to war with them, let them offer me money and tech to have our agreement be 'nulled', and I'll just look the other way... or I'll say 'no', and they can still break the treaty and take whatever penalties are associated with it. Obviously, this wo

Actually, I've had pretty decent luck in two games now going for an alliance, and not having much in terms of firepower. I do build up some, but I'm never the highest (usually 3rd or 4th, with all AI's). Haven't had much luck with cultural victory, however. What I'd suggest doing is don't make an alliance until you can make an alliance with at least two major races, then ally with both on the same turn. I've found that if you ally with just one, you usually get dragged into their war

I'm still relatively new to GalCiv, having played two games to their conclusion one on Beginner, one on normal. I've bumped up the difficulty to Normal, and find myself wondering what is up with influence -- more specfically, what I'm doing wrong. Both games I've won, I did so by alliance. I focus heavily on diplomacy and trade, only building militarily defensively to make sure people don't demand tribute of me. I've found in the normal games, that I just can't cut it when it comes t
