Okay, im running the straight CD version, which is why i asked if it was patched. START a new game. And immdiately choose to build a Survey Ship. Press TURN until 12-14 months pass. Then choose PURCHASE. In the PURCHASE SCREEN highlight SCOUT. The top choice should show -4xx,xxx,xxx BC. Click that choice, and BOOM you got more money than you can possibly even spend in one game. The download isn't a .exe but a .zip file. EXE files don't have associations, they are executables. Somehow in your system .zip files are associated with Civmap(?). If you don't have Winzip or Winrar installed, install them. If they are installed try to set their associations to zip files. If all else fails goto START->Programs->Accesories->Windows Explorer. Since this is a topic on STARS! i wont start another, i will just dig this one up, and breathe life back into it. Any of you guys here ever play Spaceward HO! ? It was a STARS! rip for sure, but played a whole hell of alot faster. It was orig a MAC only game, but they ported it to PC after dismal sales. Go Figure. STARS! was originally a Win 3.1 game, now thats oldschool for sure. But it was patched up and re-released as a Win95 game and sold as a double-pack (2 copys - 2 Serials) so long ago. I split mine with a friend back in '97 i think. It was a on the shelf game for awhile back then. But when it sold out it was gone. :(
