Tolkien is the prototype of epic fantasy and stands the test of time. C.S. Lewis' Narnia series is also a great epic story. I enjoyed Stephen R. Donaldson's Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever trilogies. Definitely epic in scope, but also definitely a difficult read. And as someone else mentioned, Covenant is sort of an anti-hero, which makes it interesting and different. I don't believe anyone else has mentioned Stephen King's "Dark Tower" series.&n

OK, I understand about the Current Turn numbers being negative. I do wonder about the trade value now. Why does it not increase with distance? Is this something Stardock intended to do on purpose? Hopefully someone can answer this. Has anyone noticed if trade value is still increased by trade modules on starbases? I haven't noticed yet. I'll have to look more closely at this. I remember seeing a trade ship come in close to my homeworld and through space that should have been mo
Anybody else seeing this issue with Trade? Anyone from Stardock have any ideas? This isn't supposed to be how Trade is now, is it? I completely uninstalled GC II and all expansion packs, then reinstalled everything. Same "problem". I am running Vista SP1.
I installed GalCiv II from my CD. After that, I was successfully able to update to 1.5, and then install all the other modules, DA, and ToA from SDC. I was just unable to install the base GC II. Weird. Anyway, this episode highlights my distrust of distributing software this way. I still prefer good old fashioned optical disks.
Please don't disregard, it is doing this to me as well. I have closed SDC and restarted multiple times, and even reinstalled SDC. Every time it gets to 100% it starts over. I had uninstalled all GalCiv II components in order to start fresh, so I am trying to install the base GalCiv II right now. I am dead in the water...
Just started a game of ToA, installed from Stardock. Trade seems to be messed up. All my routes say for Current Turn: something like -24/0 or -13/0, etc, and Current Value and Max Value for all routes is 5. Anyone else seeing this?
The free starbase upgrades for Evil can be a very powerful thing if you can crank out Constructors, especially to produce Military starbases. However, I don't see why an Evil race should get free Culture modules. Military and Economy Yes, Culture No. If you are Evil why would you go for a Cultural Victory? Maybe give Good and/or Neutral races free Culture modules for balance?
I have been experiencing this PQ reset problem more and more lately. I never really noticed it in earlier versions of the game. If what Nspace says is true then this is a rather large problem. Very frustrsating to be playing a Huge map and have my PQ reset a few days into the game. Can someone from Stardock post a clarification on what is really going on here? And possibly an ETA for the fix (wishful thinking maybe)?
