I wrote to SD directly before about the product description back right after DA expansion. I too thought I'd be receiving a box and all just like I did with the first GalCiv2 package. I too would have ordered the game even if the game description was just "CD (no box included)". FYI I always pre-ordered SD titles. But please in future, put the right package description with the product.

MoM's spiritual sequel is still in the works /thumbsup!
I too was expecting an actual box. I just checked my email records for both GalCiv II and GalCiv II: DA Product Name : Galactic Civilizations II [CD] (Pre-Order) Product Name : Galactic Civilizations II - Dark Avatar [CD] I received box, manual etc for GalCiv 2, but only the CD for GalCiv 2:DA. I was rather shocked to have only received the CD. I can understand the reason behind it but I think Stardock should INFORMED us. In future, if the *PHYSICAL* item isn't shi

emails to the beta keys have been released about oh 3 hrs ago.
is this up on the mod library yet? i couldn't find it. or is there any screenshots or introduction to this mod?
I also found a use for Tiny hulls once my micronization is high enough as cargo ships. slap a trade module on one and a weapon and you have a freighter with 6 HP and a weapon instead of a cargo hull with 1 hp and no weapons. i have a question on upgrading freighters. (assuming you name the new freighter designs another name) when you have the new freighters, would you have to re-establish the trade routes?
ok so the way I understand it. For Dark Avatar games: We invest in espionage per race. From Low, Medium, High and Advanced levels. At Advanced, periodic stolen tech is obtained from that race. Meanwhile I could put my spies to work on other races, but have to start the espionage level from Low, Medium etc etc. In order to invest, we need to place spies in an opposing race's planetary structure right? Like Factory, Research etc. Other than shutting down the use of th
I been spending funds into espionage and realized that the Foreign Report stated that Nof further Espionage spending was needed. Does that mean I can move my spies to other races that I want to spy on? Does that also mean I will continue to get periodic stolen tech from these races that I have 'Advanced' level espionage levels?
hehe, that got a chuckle thanks for sharing that.
Stupid, Stupid beauacrats . As much as I dislike red-tape at the highest level, I think humanity itself should be blamed. Pride & Greed being the 2 prime reasons we all can't get alone. My rant - passive smoke. Hate it when it gets in my eyes, or I smell it or it smells my clothes, upholstery, etc Quit and
edit: opps ok found out it is metaverse compatible. my bad. thanks for the mod!
sorry but what is this defense bug that everyone seems to be talking about? i tried to search the bug forum but came up empty. is there a link to the discussion or what it does?
Not really a 4X MMORPG but more of a MMORTS. Probably the first ever? Started back in 1998. http://www.mankind.net/
The worse part about planetary environments is that if you don't research them, and it so happens the AI colonizes one such planet within your area of influence, and it flips.... then you are stuck with a planet that can't develop till you research the tech. I would have thought that if the planet flips, you would at least obtain some knowledge of the planetary tech that it needs or that the AI has. Oh well...
Yeah, gotta add my voice to the chorus here. I played several small games and found it very difficult to initiate trade, even with high-diplo skills. It is possible just alot harder. The AI values tech more in the latest patch. While I would probably expect that situation in Tough or higher AIs, should it appear in 'Normal' or easier AI levels? Is tech-trading not a component of AI intelligence, or diplo or both?
Thanks for the replies. Yeah I made a transport, filled it and left it in orbit. But having said that - the sale of 'food' to Korath / Drengin option sounds interesting. I guess it could be done in the 'trade' screen. But in the end they would just use it for their own ground troops. Maybe a possible new ethical game option. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gif" border=0
I'm actually not even looking for a hotkey, but rather a selection in the GAME OPTIONS page or something similar. I play on tiny-small maps and enjoy micro-managing my colonies. But I would also like to avoid having to click through every colony to just disable every planetary governor each and everytime I start a new game.
I just played a game where the Homeworld started reporting like sub 50% approval ratings, while the rest of my empire had 100% or near 100% rating. Highlighting the approval rating in the planet screen, it said -62% from **population**? Does anyone know what that means? Is it because the planet is a Class 11 and I have 20billion squeezed on it? I was playing the Torians.
hi does anyone know how to turn off the planetary governors (auto-upgrade social structures) in one stroke (or mice/keypress)? currently if i wanted to disable the planetary governor, i had to go into the planetary page, click on details (i think) and then select 'governors'. after that i get presented by 2 options. one to disable auto-upgrades of social structures, the other auto-terraform. thanks in advance. i am sure this has been asked before but for some strange reason my
Sounds great! Torians no longer will build oribital fleet managers no matter what. They're living on the edge now Can't wait to try out the new ai and see how defence/attack balances out. actually does anyone know what the above fix actuall
Thanks for all the replies. Yes economy is king in the early fragile moments. I think I narrowed down WHY my previous games were failing. 1. i was too ambitious in my land grabbing. over-extended plus i was researching into those environment techs that took way too long to discover. making those hasty payments to buyout colony ships or constructors. 2. my morale was low. around the low 60%s and that put a strain on pop growth. 3. and because of insta-payments,
Thanks Iztok and LoneWolf0912. I will take your suggestions and balance it around the matches that I play. Yeah I didn't take the 30% bonus thinking it might not be that important. But like Iztok mentioned, being in a duel-match I noticed the lack of funds when I can't trade with other civs. There was another thread in the 'Gameplay' forum on trade vs no-trade economies, but thats another topic I guess. And yes my civ was very poor. I rarely went over 5K, mostly hovering around
I don't think there's a download for the GalCiv 2 (+ Dark Avatar) manual. I recall there used to be one back when GalCiv 2 was released about a year ago but I haven't tried searching for that. I did find a HTML version and perhaps it would suffice. Note it does not contain information pertaining to the Dark Avatar expansion, only GalCiv 2. Hope that helps to quell your reading thirst <a
